Chapter 4 - Interlude: Stella Maris

Why did the world have no light? Everyone gifted with words and intellect wondered.

Indeed, why did they even think there was light in the first place, and to think that they would go as far as to ask, why their world became that way?

There was no light. It was dark from the beginning, there's no doubt about that.

When everyone came into thought, there was dark.

Why?

Why would they feel weird about it?

They didn't know exactly what they did feel weird about it but looking at the sky for many days without the sun must've been triggered something in their minds, their thoughts, or maybe their past, wait, …past?

They didn't know their past, none of them have. Just an empty feeling lingers in their wake.

How about the Sun? Everyone asked themselves. What is the Sun? They didn't know, but how did they know there was a Sun? Or if there wasn't, why did they know of it. Why did they know of something that didn't exist?

Their heads ached for a moment.

As they try to remember something, this always happens. The more they tried to remember, the less they felt like they knew.

The first humans came to this world asking these questions all their life. It was inevitable that they would do so.

However, the feeling soon vanished in time.

A year passed.

Then followed by decades and hundreds...

Soon everyone forgot. Under the darkness of the skies keeping their lives silent, they adapted. All connections from the past are no longer accessible.

Truth can never be replaced by a lie. It can never will but another truth may. Another truth is that they have to live with it, cope and adapt to what things are now and for in the future.

Acceptance and adaptation are one of the things that separate humans from animals. For now, they have to live.

Occupy the land and survive.

From the past to the present and for the distant future, one thing will always remain and that's to survive.

Many years have passed and up to now, humans never changed. They may have changed their way of living, their outlooks in life, but their goals never changed. And that's to live every today to meet your future self tomorrow with a smile and greet your past a sigh that makes you say "You did great overcoming that."

Of course, that also includes him. When I say him, it's him I'm talking about…
