Chapter 15 - Hunter

"What??" we were shocked when Ishigaki said that he was our new Ora. It means that he replaced Rin.

"That's right, the team management committee said that I must replace the girl that was here. Because she filed a complaint. I don't know what that was, but they said that she wasn't so comfortable in this team," Ishigaki explained about the situation.

This is true, Rin moved to another team after I confronted her. Maybe her hatred towards me was so great that she couldn't even stay in my team. But that's okay, maybe this was the best for her.

It was particularly strange for me, after I declared that members of my teams are considered as family. There's no such thing as replacing family members, right? I kinda felt guilty for all of this again.

But whatever, things will get better I guess. It's time to kick some ass again.

About an hour later, we arrived at sector 24. As usual, we dropped on a rooftop that's wide enough for us. The area wasn't worse than sector 35, but I was worried about the police station a few blocks away. I imagined there were some evil possessed police. We were ready to clear the area, and bring back the possessed.

"Here they come," Kotetsu drew out his sword. We saw a cluster of the possessed coupled with some zombies from the north running toward us. Among them, I saw something moving really quickly, I bet that was one of the hunters.

The enemy finally arrived at our rooftop. One of them threw a rock directly to my face, but I was able to dodge it. Some of them brought weapons like baseball bats, and even a steel pole, or a part of it. Ishigaki was defending our backs with his aura. Oras have what's called Auric, some sort of gauntlet, instead of zodiac swords. It's a kind of magical glove filled with light elements, so that they can cure the possessed and even deflect projectiles.

"Watch out!!" I yelled at Kazuki as a hunter suddenly attacked with a dagger over his head. With its crazed expression, eyes wide open and mouth grinning like a maniac. Kazuki dodged that attack by ducking, then attempted to stab the hunter from below, but he missed. "Shit!"

The hunter vanished, but I still sense him at that moment. I looked in every direction, I didn't see him anywhere. But then a zombie managed to hold onto me from behind with its disgusting hands, and I couldn't do anything.

The hunter came back right in front of me, unsheathing his dagger once more. At that moment I believed that I was gonna die.

Luckily Ishigaki came and used his aura to protect me from the stab attack. While Kazuki stabbed the zombie that was holding me. It was kind of scary the first time. Blood of the zombie splattered on my back, the hunter was knocked down but he hasn't been stabbed yet.

"I'll finish him!!" Kotetsu swiftly came with his Libra sword of wind. Kotetsu came from behind the hunter preparing to stab him, but only managed to slash the hunter's face. But he managed to escape, and run further towards the city center.

The hunter had overtaken us, and disappeared with just a minimal wound. Clearly, the hunter himself was once a normal human. Because even though his expression looked like a lunatic, he still had the features of a normal person. I hope we can eventually free the souls of the hunters, and we might get important information from them.

Unfortunately, with Ishigaki's best effort, we couldn't purify the soul of the zombie earlier, because apparently the victim's body was in terrible condition, especially it's vital organ. The early hours of the mission was very exhausting, especially with large numbers of the possessed that we had to deal with.

But the mission continued, after waves of darkness attacked, something happened. Suddenly, the ground shakes, my team and I gripped firmly to anything we could hold onto. Ishigaki also tried to hold the people who had been purified with his aura. At first, it felt like a normal earthquake, but after it went for several more minutes, a cellular tower suddenly sprouted from the ground not far from us. And the peak of it was glowing afterwards.
