Lily, who previously seemed hesitant to be carried and played with Axelle, is now getting closer to him.
"Uncle, Love Lily?"
Axelle seemed to blink her eyes slowly. Why did his niece ask him that?
That's what Axelle thought of course.
"Of course uncle loves you, why are you asking unnecessary things Lily dear," Axelle said softly.
Lily looked closely at Axelle's face looking for the truth in his words.
"Why has uncle never met Lily before."
Instantly Axelle felt guilty about Lily, Michael's only daughter.
'I should have visited her either when she was born or when I got back there for just those few days.' Axelle's monologue implied a hint of his regret.
"Hey, what's wrong? Why are you looking so gloomy, is there something wrong Axelle?" asked Kylie, noticing her brother-in-law's slightly gloomy face.
A forced smile Axelle gave to Kylie. Oh come on, he doesn't want to be seen as pathetic by his sister-in-law who has brought her little family there so he can meet them.
"Does Mommy's kids ask strange things?" Kylie asked her little daughter who was still in Axelle's arms.
Lily gave a small shake of the head to Kylie. She didn't feel like she was asking something strange, so he couldn't confirm Kylie's question right?
"Lily was just asking if Uncle loved Lily or not because the uncle had never met Lily before."
Lily's honest answer was able to make Kylie realize Axelle's previous feelings and why her face turned gloomy.
"Uncle Axelle of course loves Lily, it's just that uncle Axelle's work is a lot so he can't find time to meet Lily, for that he often calls Mommy to always ask about Lily, but usually uncle doesn't call at the right time so Lily doesn't get to see Uncle's face, except when Lily was a baby and couldn't quite remember Uncle Axelle's face."
"Is that so?" Lily asked innocently while blinking her eyes in confusion.
Kylie gave Lily a quick nod.
Before long, Lily gave Axelle and Kylie a genuine smile.
Axelle's eyes look teary. He was a little moved by that. He thought he was a grown man and also wouldn't be senseless if his niece would ask such a thing, but the opposite happened.
"Thank you," Axelle squeaked softly to which Kylie responded with a quick nod of her head.
Tap Tap Tap!
The sound of footsteps seemed to be heard in the direction of those who were still chatting with each other and had not yet reached their seats.
"Am I bothering you?" asked a middle-aged man who was accompanied by a young man beside him.
"Uncle! / Mr. Carl," shouted some of the people there.
Michael, who seemed enthusiastic about Carl's presence, of course, immediately approached the middle-aged man.
Oh come on, after all the man is his best friend's parents and you can say the man is like his parents too.
"How are you uncle, are you okay?" asked Michael who started the conversation first, while walking his feet together towards the table that had been reserved by Jack.
"Of course, Ah...is that your daughter Lily?" Carl asked after finding the little girl about to sit on Axelle's lap.
Michael gave Carl a nod of his head.
"Lily dear, you know this is Daddy's best friend's dad, so you can call him Grandpa Carl."
"Grandpa Carl? Lily has many grandfathers?"
Michael chuckled a little when his little daughter cutely said that, not to mention when the little girl counted on her little fingers his father's name, and also Kylie's dad who counted.
"Hello, Lily."
"Hello Grandpa Carl."
Just as Carl was about to talk to Lily, Jack suddenly approached him.
"Mr. Daniel, Miss, and the little master have come, they are already in front of the restaurant," whispered Jack in Carl's ear which Carl nodded immediately.
"Ahem, looks like we have the most important guest here," Carl whispered suddenly with a smile.
Simultaneously everyone nodded their heads, realizing who Carl meant, only of course it didn't apply to Michael and Lily who were confused.
"You know who Uncle means?" Michael asked half-whispered at Kylie who had been looking relaxed unlike him.
Kylie couldn't help but give her husband a slow nod. After all, she can't lie, can she?
Michael's eyes are perfectly rounded for her. Why does it seem like he's the only one who doesn't know who Carl is referring to?
'Ugh, sucks why didn't Kylie tell me earlier?'
"Welcome."
Calmly and also an authoritative tone of voice was clearly heard from Carl's lips to the 3 people who had just come to him.
Thump!
The girl's eyes in front of Carl looked glazed over as if the clear liquid that was now stuck in the petals of her eyes could fall at any moment.
"Dad .." Jenni screamed for a moment, and after that ran to hug Carl.
Wait ...
Jenni and Carl's relationship has really improved? Wasn't before she moved away from Daniel, Carl and Jenni's relationship only improved?
"Finally you want to call me and hug me straight like this," Carl whispered in Jenni's ear.
Jenni could no longer hold her clear liquid, so she sobbed in Carl's arms.
Jaden, who was previously confused, and surprised to see his mother crying, of course quickly hugged his mother.
"Mommy ... don't cry ... sob ... is this grandfather naughty? But if he is naughty, why does Mommy hug him?" Jaden asked as he wrapped his arms around Jenni's calf.
It seems the girl forgot that she has a little son who is too sensitive when it comes to his mother, right?
"Mommy?" Surprised Michael was the only person there who didn't know anything.
"Friends? Ah... Friends!" shouted Lily who was already busy beating Axelle asking to be lowered from the young man's lap.
Jenni spontaneously let go of Carl's arms and also looked at Jaden and Michael alternately.
'Ugh... I forgot to tell Michael anything, doesn't this mean I will be interrogated by him?'
Several times Jenni gulped her saliva roughly when she saw Michael, who was previously calm sitting in his chair, was now approaching her.
'Ugh... this isn't good.'
