A cat has nine lives... And so does she...
"Master, we have searched everywhere, we simply cannot-"
"Can-not..." he interrupts sharply, his eyes blazing golden with a quiet fury that puts the higher demon to his knees, his temper spiking
"Cannot- I simply do not like this word and yet you continue to bring it up to me time and again," he pauses, "do you wish for me to sever your head from your body Styx,so that my message may come across to you more clearly?" he asks quietly, his glass quite interesting at the moment, his view of his burgundy Chateau-97 the only thing grounding him not to kill one of his most trustworthy and loyal of men.
Styx bows deeply, knowing, as usual, that the message he'd clearly delivered had arrived to deaf years. It is not a surprise to him anymore.
"Master, we really have tried searching everywhe-"
"Styx, will you not give me the answer I truly desire? Should I keep on trusting you as a worthy second or should I pick another who can follow simple instructions and rid me of this burden of constantly repeating myself that I do not CARE what you tell me unless it is what I want," he asks, talking as if he hadn't even heard the explanation Styx had tried and absolutely failed to put across.
Styx begins to tremble, his master known for his quiet rage that many had used to scare their young ones to absolute obedience.
If he were to pick another second.... his head would be on a stake first...
He wasn't stupid enough not to recognize the clear threat to his life.
"Master, over the centuries I have served you, I have been more loyal to you than anyone in your fleet," he says, hoping the sincerety of his voice would show him the truth.
He smirks, turning to finally look at the now very petrified second, whose fear was but a thick choking scent in the air.
"Exactly, I do not care, and do not wish to do so of the how's, the where's or even the damn who's... find her!"he says, his tone like gravel, and the power inside of him quietly pulsing in the air, crushing Styx's windpipe, making it hard for him to breathe, let alone articulate a single word.
Swallowing loudly, he mustered foolish courage and tried again.
But it was as if once this woman was involved, the very common ability to make sense was stripped from his mind...
He wished for his master's eyes to finally wake, so that he would see that this abomination of a woman no longer existed, and even if she did, it would only be for his neverending doom that she doesn't show her face, that she dies, for ones their eyes meet, it would mean the ninth heartbreak for his master.
A heartbreak he did not wish to see again on his master's face....
Flashback*****
"Old friend, thank you, for being with me at such a time," he says to Styx, all the while chugging his twelfth bottle of strong wine, not that it did anything to quench his pain....
"Of course," he replies, even though he wished deeply to knock some senses into him. Tell him the painful truth he did not wish to hear.
A stray tear escapes him, and that single drop, at that moment, altered Styx, immensely.
For all the seven lifetimes before, this was the very first time to see him shed a tear for that vile and wicked woman.
It wouldn't take a blind man long enough to realize the amount of pain he usually is in, for it eminated from each deep sentence he uttered, in his very breath
A long silence passed before he spoke again.
"Am I not good enough?" he asks, the question, Styx realizes, rhetorical for he kept on speaking, that did not mean the question did not shock him any less.
How could his Lord, the Lord of the Seven Lord's of hell, be not good enough?!... for such a vile woman....
"I admit, I am a demon, but I am a high level at that, I have wealth, I have the looks and I can give her such pleasure she'd succumb to such deep sin she wouldn't want to ever resurface. " he says.
"I can provide for her anything she desires, money, love safety, power, game... anything! And yet each and every single lifetime I lose to him!?
He is the very sole reason I had entered my previous predicament, he may call himself an Archangel but his dark poisonous heart is as clear as light,"he says, fury and pure rage in his every word, his words coming out like venom.
"To see her happy beside him and not know of what he caused me," his hands cover his face, a painful sigh escaping him, with a sadness so deep Styx was threatened to cry on behalf of his heartbroken master.
" It hurts, wounds me in the most unimaginable way Styx," he tells him.
And with sadness for his master came unbearable fury.....
What kind of skilled witchery did that vile human use towards his master that gave her the right to do such a thing!
To chain him to her in not one but eight lifetimes! What right did she have to cause such pain towards him?! Such a power as him!
And in blinded fury Styx swore, that if she dared to show her venomous face to his master again, he'd personally kill her, rip her heart out of her ribcage, and die, having rid his master of such a witch.
For he knew well that no matter how much his master valued him, he would kill him for commiting such a felony.
Bit it would all be worth it, for she was to poisonous for his master...
*******
"Master, please try to see reason! We do not even know if she had already had a reincarnation before you met-"
" I DO NOT CARE HOW MANY DAMN REINCARNATIONS SHE HAS!" he shouts, slamming Styx powerfully to the wall, his hand tightening at his throat,"you find her-" he squeezes, cutting off sharply his air circulation," and you bring her to me, or else your heads will go down with her with no hope of seeing the light of day again!" he drops him to the floor, Styx gasping heavily for air.
He would not dare think that she was gone forever- he wouldn't, couldn't, he had so many questions that needed answers, and a life without her- he'd find himself slicing his own throat before it happens.
