It's been a couple of weeks since Peter let you join them and you almost seem to be cool with everyone. The keyword to the sentence is almost. Because during the time you've been here with them, it just seems like Rocket doesn't like you.
For one, when you helping Peter carry a box full of gears and stuff. One of them fell off and you, since Rocket happened to be nearby, you asked him if he can pick it up. But he just looks at you before walking away.
.
~~(Flashback)~~
Peter: Dick! Don't mind him. Come on, lift with your knees.
Y/n: Alright.
.
You felt a little hurt that day, but maybe he's just having a bad day right now. So you continue helping Peter.
For two, whenever you say hi to him, it's either he ignores you or nearly says hi but it's in a way to where you think it's more of a mumble. He doesn't really have a full-blown conversation with you either. It's all very straight and to the point, and this is all while he usually doesn't even look at you.
Right now you're looking for your headband you bought at one of the market places yesterday. You swear you think you could have dropped the headband somewhere around here. You just got it too, so it's frustrating enough that you lost it already.
Everyone else is still out buying supplies and stuff while you're already done with your shopping for today, and now you're just wandering around the ship in search of your headband.
.
Y/n: If I remember correctly, maybe it's in...
.
You remember using your powers yesterday in the mech room, so maybe there's a good chance that it's there. The door automatically opens and you see Rocket repairing something.
.
Y/n: Hey Rocket, have you seen my headband anywhere?
Rocket: No.
.
His focus is on working on this right now. You wander around the room to see if you can find it anywhere, but you don't think it's in here either. Honestly, you would like to have a small conversation with the guy that saved you, but you know that it's probably not going to happen. Probably wouldn't hurt to try.
.
Y/n: What are you working on?
Rocket: This thing.
Y/n: Do you need any help?
Rocket: No.
.
It gets uncomfortably quiet real quick, as you don't know what else to say. Would now be the right time to ask him why he doesn't like you? Maybe... Maybe you'll ask him that next time you see him alone or something...
.
Y/n: Alright then. I'll just... leave you be.
.
What neither of you know was that some black fluid was spilling near the entrance of the door. But you didn't notice it and the next thing you know, you slip from it. Your back hits the hard floor before your head, causing horrible pain to spread all over your body.
.
Y/n: Shit! Damn it!
.
The moment you hit the floor is when Rocket finally looks at you and stops what he's doing before hurrying over to you.
.
Rocket: Hey you alright?
Y/n: No, man my head... I think I'm just gonna lay here until the pain goes away.
Rocket: Good call.
.
You look over at him, seeing him stand next to you. Your eyes lock with each other, but only for a couple of seconds before he looks away. Though he does a good job of hiding it, he looks a bit nervous. You're surprised that he's showing concern for you since he hasn't done that since he rescued you.
When he looks away, he sees the black fluid you slipped on and walks to see where it was coming from.
.
Rocket: I think I found your headband thing.
.
Your headband was stuck between some of the gears, and Rocket pulls it out. You manage to sit up, but your head is still killing you. You should probably take a nap in your room as soon as you can get up. Rocket walks over and gives you your headband.
.
Y/n: Thanks.
.
You get yourself up and look down at your headband.
.
Rocket: You gonna be alright?
Y/n: (Smile) Yeah, I just need to sleep it off is all. Well, I'll see ya.
.
He doesn't say anything but watches you leave the room. He lets out a sigh before going back to work. But that doesn't mean you're off his mind that easily. Initially, he thought that if he can distant himself from you, then he wouldn't have you in his mind, but he's just now admitting to himself that it's not working.
