Valis got better eventually, but she became a lot more dependent on Tsuitame in the process of healing herself; apparently all her mana had somehow clogged up near her heart and could have potentially killed her. To solve this, she strengthened the canal that connected the two of them in order to pass a lot more mana to Tsuitame, and now the two of them could somehow share some of the emotions the other was currently feeling; apparently, it's a defense mechanism of that species to alert the male to the danger the female is currently facing or vice versa.
After checking up on Fiogen, we discovered he was also having trouble; he had fallen unconscious, and nothing seemed to be waking him up. His body was fine; there was no abnormal activity within it, yet for some reason he wouldn't wake up.
