The climb was torturous to my feet, and after a couple of weeks, my sandals had completely worn out. They were now so thin that I could perfectly feel the ground beneath me. Thankfully, we weren't walking on particularly rocky terrain, so it wasn't all that painful, but it still felt somewhat gross in my mind.
It was my first time leading the group, so I tried my best to look dependable. I had a compass in my hand that I would regularly check, even though our destination was easily visible on the horizon, and often looked back to see how the others were doing.
Everyone seemed fine; the morale wasn't as high as I wanted, but that could've been easily explained by the fact that they were following a leader with no combat experience or the fact that two brothers fought against one another because of a woman.
