Everything Dubir's life was extremely monotonous until he became friends with a kid named Allen. After half a year of training, the instructors began forming little groups among the kids; they were pairing up the talented kids with the kids that were behind in terms of progress so that they could help them grow. This wasn't really effective in most cases, but Dubir and Allen were exceptions.
Allen was the more talented of the two; he was way faster than Dubir's; he was stronger, taller, and had even faster reflexes. Dubir, on the other hand, had only his wits on his side. To not fall behind, he put all of his focus on his aura training, and within a year, he became the best at it.
"Those were times where I didn't have to worry about anything; all they really wanted was for us to learn the gruesomeness of the act of killing, instill a sense of duty, and maybe teach us some sense of belonging."
