Chapter 14 - Chapter 12 | The cry of terror

Hiroshi hastily slashed through demons with his ax as Jel followed behind aiding him.

"You said there was five right? Well, there's way more than five." Jel said still sprinting and slashing demons.

"No, there were five. Although these demons seem to be calling backup." Hiroshi replied.

"Why are they attacking the district?" Jel asked. "Why demons at a place like this."

"I'm sure a demon leader called upon an attack upon the district if it noticed swordsmen in the district," Hiroshi said. "They're only here to wipe out people like Steven and Me." Hiroshi and Jel finally wiped out the round of demons in the area. They both were worried about Steven and the rest of the people of the district.

"We'll make a run towards the shopping district through the sewers," Hiroshi said. "It's too dangerous to go through the main hub since that's the entrance of the district, if demons already made it this far then it must be flooded with them."

"I don't think this is a demon horde anymore, I have a slight suspicion it's an army attack," Jel said. "Only attacks like these happen in big villages or cities.

Jel and Hiroshi sprinted through the forest not having any breaks. They finally approached the entrance of a sewer.

"You know where to go?" Jel asked.

"Yeah, I already have a pretty good layout of this district including its sewers."

"Okay!" Jel said. "Then let's go! Hurry!" Jel said hurrying inside the sewer entrance as Hiroshi followed behind.

Their footsteps echoed through the dark sewers filled with webs and water. Hordes of spiders roamed around, and it seemed almost abandoned. It would be pitch black if Hiroshi didn't have his Axe out which illuminated a source of light like a torch.

Something approached from behind lurking in the shadows behind Hiroshi and Jel. He immediately noticed it looking behind them. Multiple red eyes glowed in the shadows. And it was huge, huge enough to reach the ceiling of the sewers. Hiroshi swung his Axe down at the floor erupting flames towards the entity, illuminating its true physical form. It was a huge spider with bloody fangs and demon-like eyes.

"JEL! IT'S A SPIDER DEMON!" Hiroshi said putting his guard up. As Jel took cover behind him. The beast screamed at the two loudly. And hurried towards them both.

Hiroshi slammed his Axe with extreme force erupting a big burst of flames shaking the sewers. The flames burst toward the creature, but it didn't seem to harm it.

"H-How, that was my attack at full strength," Hiroshi said shock, taking a step behind. "JEL! LET'S HURRY AND ESCAPE IT, NOW!"

"RIGHT!" Jel said. Hastily turning behind him running forwards away from the beast next to Hiroshi. The beast was chasing after them, screaming in anger.

"JEL, THERE'S GOING TO BE A DROP-DOWN AHEAD," Hiroshi warned. "IT'S ABOUT FIFTY FEET DEEP!"

"We're going to drop that low. At that height, we'll probably die before this thing eats us!" Jel thought to himself. "I have to do something!" "I CAN'T DIE HERE!" Jel's thoughts were filled with friends and family, and they approached closer to the drop. His younger sister was waiting for him at home along with his mom. The whole reason he came to the prime district was to travel and explore. To do something with his life that he didn't have to depend his sister on. He wanted to become stronger! And right now, there wasn't a time to waste for cowardness!

Jel turned behind and stopped as the creature approached. It stared it dead in the eyes with not a slight bit of fear. He clenched his sword and closed his eyes. His sword glowed in a yellow glow as he felt his soul was starting to shift away from his body. He opened his eyes slowly floating in empty space. He saw a sword drift in Infront of him, glowing brightly. He reached his hand out towards the mysterious blade and grabbed it by the handle. Then, reality shifted back to normal as the creature leaped towards him with his mouth wide open, revealing a bloody set of crooked teeth.

However, Jel did not pause, with his eyes still closed. He planted his sword into the ground. And yelled with his sword responding and illuminating in a bright, turquoise-colored aura. As the spider finally was inches away from attacking Jel. Hiroshi yelled in fear that Jel would be killed.

Then, water rushed through the sewer's pipes with extreme pressure aiming toward the spider. The water kept pressing onto the beast's body not letting it move at all. It was being slowly crushed between the extreme force as its body started squeezing and shrinking under the pressure. Finally, its body burst with black liquid. The creature was killed under the pressure.

Jel opened his eyes and dropped to his knees as Hiroshi hurried toward him to aid him.

"JEL, ARE YOU OKAY?" Hiroshi said.

"Yeah, I'm okay," Jel grunted. "I just feel like my energy was taken from me."

Hiroshi shifted his gaze towards Jel's sword. Instead of being an average iron sword, its blade transformed into a turquoise color. And its handle was checkered in a black and turquoise pattern. It was apparent that Jel was now a swordsman. And it seemed like his ability was water manipulation.

"That sword, its name is Theseus," Jel said. "My heart knows it is."

Hiroshi smiled. "That's great, we should continue moving Jel."

"Right," Jel said. "Let's go."

Back at the shop. The streets were flooded with civilians running and yelling with fear, with Some staying behind to fight the demons off. Steven sat inside the store beside Markus in silence, listening to the chaos outside. Steven wondered what Chris would do at a time like this. He didn't believe that the district was being attacked. The shop was doing so well, peaking number three in the district, all thanks to Markus.

Markus sat silently with no care in the world. His face didn't seem worried or scared. It was just, plain of any emotion. Suddenly, the door started struggling, like someone was trying to get in. Steven sprinted towards the barricaded door. On the other side, a horde of demons was attempting to get in.

"MARKUS!" Steven yelled pressing his body against the door to keep it shut. "MORE DEMONS!"

But Markus still sat there. Not moving a muscle.

"Markus?" Steven said.

Markus still didn't move an inch. The barricade was starting to break, and Steven couldn't hold them back. Finally, the door burst open as a horde of demons flooded the room with their eyes on Steven. Markus stood up walking towards Steven from behind.

"Mark-" Steven said before being kicked so hard by Markus he slammed into the wall.

"W-What the hell man?" Steven groaned in shock from the sudden kick.

Markus stared at Steven with a disgusted emotionless face. "Get out of my sight you pest." Before walking past the demons without care, out of the shop.

"Why didn't the demons attack him?" Steven thought to himself. "Why did he attack me?"

Steven didn't know the answers. But the demons were right in front of him ready to attack. Alone, Steven couldn't handle two demons. So a horde would be impossible for him. He wondered if this was the moment he was going to die. His heart was throbbing and his breathing was getting out of hand. All he could think of was the demise that was going to come upon him in a few moments.
