You can't help but notice that Anuja is biting her lip as she looks back and forth between you and the rainy parking lot, a sign that she has something else on her mind but doesn't know what to do about it.
"If there's something you want to say, just say it," you tell her.
"It's just that…well, whatever is in the fog is clearly already drawn to you, if we believe that it really wasn't Caleb. Why do you think that is?" she asks.
"You mean what bad thing did I do to attract it to me?" you ask even though you know that's exactly what she means.
"Yeah, I guess," she says.
"Confessing it to you probably won't make a difference since you're not the person I wronged, so there's probably no harm in talking about it," you say.
"That's a relief, at least. So, what was it then?"
