"Hey, Jared?"
From the ground up, his answer comes in a slow drawl. "Yeah?"
"Can I ask you some questions about your sister?"
"Sure." Jared doesn't move; he keeps staring up at the stars. "What about her?"
"Well, I'm her co-counselor," you begin. "And I really like her, and I want her to like me, too. What can I do to impress her?"
Jared gives you a slow, lazy smile. "Yeah, okay, I get it." He folds his arms languidly back to prop his head up and get a better look at you. "Well, her favorite candy is red licorice. She really wants to try waterskiing but never got the chance. And she gets super wicked annoyed if you don't do your share of the work. And she won't do it for you, either," he sighs, undoubtedly from experience.
Well, you've missed your chance on that last one, since you're out here talking to Jared instead of helping Pearl with the Muskrats, but maybe you can make it up over the rest of the summer.
As for the rest…waterskiing and red licorice? You can work with that.
"Thanks," you tell Jared, and receive a casual wave of his hand in return.
