"Jessica, darling, listen to me," I said, trying to calm the excitement evident on her face when I told her we were going to spend the day together. Despite my failed attempts to fully understand Jessica's origins, I now realized that perhaps the only person who could help me figure this out was Jessica herself. Even if she didn't remember, the answers I needed were with her. They remained with her and no one else. Even if she didn't know it, she would give me the answers I needed.
"I'm not a good person. I am a bad man," I said, watching her reactions. She only looked at me with a plain expression, as though she was waiting for any other news, anything different that would come as a shock to her.
