"Let's bake a cake, what do you think?", Hideki asks as he sits at the coffee table. Ryu held his mug of coffee with both of his hands and looked intently at the still surface of the brown liquid.
"Ryu?" Hideki's voice which had a hint of morning coarseness pulled him out of his trance, "What are you thinking about?"
As a matter of fact, Ryunosuke was not thinking of anything at all. His mind felt numb, he was not sure if it was because of the headache or because of the new discoveries he had made after waking up this morning.
"Let's bake a cake," Hideki said nodding to himself and got up to gather the materials. He knew the basic items one needed and he briefly placed them on the kitchen counter for easy access. Ryu watched as he drank his coffee. After finishing gathering all the ingredients, Hideki called Ryu.
"Come on, what's the first thing? Eggs and flour?" Hideki asked as he grabbed the bowl and poured an amount of flour in and four eggs and starts whisking. Ryu had gotten up from the coffee table in front of the kitchen and joined behind Hideki, looking over his shoulder at the bowl.
Halfway whisking the batter Hideki stops and sighs, "This does not look quite right. What is happening?" Hideki looks at Ryu questioningly.
It took a while for Ryu to get the hint, "You are asking me? I-I don't know how to make a darn cake!" he chuckled.
Hideki was confused momentarily before mumbling, "Oh…you used to.."
"Well, now I don't genius."
"You really are so sharp-tongued. I will look it up. Leave this to me!" He said and took his phone out. 20 more minutes pass and Hideki who is usually good at cooking has failed them both and grunts as he lets the whisk drop into the clumpy batter. Some splatters on his apron which makes him sigh even more. For a good cook, he was comically bad at confectionery.
This amuses Ryu who was leaning on the counter behind him, "You are silly!"
The remarks make the taller man turn around, facing the raven-haired man. Hideki realises the limited space present between them. The kitchen counters trapping them in, he backs away but the way Ryunosuke's face flushed was evidence enough that they both were in on the desire.
Ryu takes a gulp of courage and steps closer to his husband. He opens his mouth but nothing comes out, he fails at a witty remark. But when he looked up into Hideki's eyes, he could not help but have a smirk. Hideki unhesitantly wraps his arms around the other.
"Bear in mind, you are being awfully seductive, Ryunosuke."
"I am aware."
"On the job then," Hideki tightens his grip and picks up Ryu placing him over his shoulder, gaining a yelp from his husband. Hideki puts down Ryu on their couch and places a kiss on his forehead.
"I love you so much, Ryunosuke," he buries his face in Ryu's neck. Hideki's hand tangles up in his husband's black locks as he leaves kisses down his neck.
"I love you too. Do you ever wonder what would we be like if I did not forget you every damn day?" Ryu asked. Hideki laid atop Ryu, his face buries in his husband's neck.
He was silent for a second, "Yes, I have but it gets exhausting after a while and then you come to the realization you stopped enjoying the present."
Ryu scoffed, his hand instinctively running through Hideki's hair, "What is there to enjoy?"
"This," his husband replied, his hold around Ryunosuke tightening, "Getting to be around you, spending time with you in the calm of our house."
"Oh…," Ryu's hand stop and falls back to Hideki's lower back, "You know, today morning when I woke up to you, I felt unsure of everything. I still am unsure of everything…except you."
The statement makes Hideki smile, he lays atop his husband in bliss before sweet sleep engulfs him. He thinks about what Hideki said and he ponders, 'getting to be around you'...
"How could it be possibly enjoyable being around me?"
Ryunosuke greatly was oblivious to the scale of relief and happiness one feels when one gets to relish moderate happy times after experiencing sorrowful reality. Hideki had lived in a big house with distance and cold walls. He knows what it feels like to be apart from Ryunosuke and this existence that they have is better than not having a reality with Ryunosuke at all.
