CHAPTER 2
"So, what do you say, Drystan? Would you accept my heart?"
The wind around them suddenly changed, becoming even cooler than it had been a couple of minutes back.
Even though he did not know much, he could see her sincerity but then being in his shoes, he did not know whether or not to trust any words coming out of any girl's mouth.
Besides, what was with the fact that his happiness depended on others or what did she say?
"Drystan." Her voice came off low, bringing his already wandering mind back to the situation at hand.
"I am sorry."
Ba-DUM!
"What?"
Her eyes flew back open as she gazed into his face, wishing she could see the reason why he would reject her.
Wasn't she enough? Wasn't she better than Jenny? At least she loved him so why?
Astoria's mind was plagued with several thoughts that she failed to notice Drystan moving forward to meet her. All she knew and chanted was the fact that she got rejected.
"I am sorry, Astoria," he repeated, breaking her off from her train of thoughts and when she looked up, he was standing right in front of her.
"Sorry to have made you worry and sad. Sorry to have bothered you."
"What?" She gazed up into his eyes and what met hers, left her gaping at him in astonishment and confusion.
His eyes sparkled like the evening stars, bringing a sense of calm to her aching heart.
"What did you say?" Astoria asked, her confusion finally setting in.
"I am sorry for making the most beautiful girl worry her heart with my lack of hope and giving up spirit. Sorry for being such a loses who is not deserving of your love."
"No, Drystan is not a loser."
"I know. And here is my answer to your question. Yes, I, Drystan Aiden would accept your heart."

Her eyes widened in complete surprise but she still was not satisfied. The fear of the words sorry he earlier said still made her heart race and thud wildly in her chest.
"This is not a rejection?" Astoria asked to make sure.
"Huh? Why would you think that?" He was taken aback by her words? Never would he have expected to hear her say that. Didn't he just explain the reason for his apology?
Okay, he may not have but he did say he was sorry for this and that. How could she...
🤦
One word... Females.
"So you mean you are not rejecting me?" She asked again, this time louder to make sure he heard her and clarified for her troubled heart.
"Of course not, Astoria. I am not rejecting you. I am glad you like me."
PAH!
A small slap landed in his arm, although small, it still sounded loud.
"What did I do?" He scratched the place her hand had touched just now, pretending to be hurt.
"I do not like you."

"I, Astoria Jason, love you."
His cheeks puffed up as a smile lit his once dull face. "I promise to cherish you and never make you regret loving me. From today, I give you my heart as well. Thank you."
"Stop..." she lowered her head again. Her embarrassment was setting in. "No need to thank Astoria. I am happy you are happy."
"Me too." Without further ado, he did not wait to get another go-ahead before he closed the gap between them and hugged her close.

Seated in the big lecture theatre, Drystan, like every other day remained alone, with his books and thoughts as his only company but unlike the last month-plus, he was a bit cheerful.
Although no one knew the reason why he was that way? One thing was sure, they did not care about him and neither did he.
He was a tall and lanky looking guy. He did not have the build most guys had but what they did not know, he had his own and muscles hidden away in his big shirts.
Who would notice either way or even if, which girl would want him?
He flopped in class, not so much but he wasn't that much of an average student either as his looks...
Sigh his messy black hair was another problem. In all his appearance did not do justice for him back in high school and even now in the university, or became worse.
His eyes dropped lazily as his gaze remained glued to the couple dreaded opposite of him from his left.
He had been watching them since they first got into the lecture theatre and when his gaze met with the girl, she smirked and quickly sat on the thigh of her boyfriend. Obviously to make him jealous.
Like a dumb lovestruck fool he watched their public display of affection with the boy's hand wandering all over her back and sometimes trailing it further down to rest on her backside before. Bringing it back up when she laughed.
"Sigh! The life."
Gish!
"What life, huh?" A feminine voice rang in his head right after the ringing and vibrations died down in his head from her ambush earlier.
He lifted his upper body back up which had fallen face forward due to the impact of her bag against the ack of his precious dumb head.
Turning to his side, his eyes met with a perfect blue one burning with anger.
GULP!
"What stupid life is that?" She raised her voice louder this time, earning them a few stares from every corner of the theatre. Although there were some students present, there was no lecturer insight as it was a free period. That was why those two turned it into their home.
"It's been two weeks already since we started dating and you still haven't gotten over her? Am I a joke to you or what?!"
"Astoria," he made to stand up when his head got another strike, causing him to fall back down on his seat and clutch at his head. "Damn!"
"I hate you, Drystan!"
She gritted her teeth, looked over at Jenny. "All I see, is a loser wannabe girl, clinging her way to a probable hot guy. What's there to envy when you have me?"
She did not stay to say anymore and took to her heels. Staying there was just going to get on her nerves, especially with her naughty boyfriend.
"Whoa! Did you just see that?"
"Did the Queen bee just say that loser guy was her boyfriend?"
"And they have been dating for long."
"Seems like he got rejected by her. What was her name again, Jen right? Pfff what a loser. How can he compare that tramp with the Queen bee of her faculty?"
"Hmm, like Astoria said, what is there to envy."
"Tsk, if I were him, I would run off and go plead. What did she see in him anyway?"
"What is his name anyway? Who is he?"
Several words erupted from all around him but that did not bother Drystan. He was already used to their murmuring by now but tho time around, Astoria was affected.
Among the numerous witchy eyes that stared at him, he caught one pair that stood out more. It was Jenny. She was looking over to his side. She heard what Astoria had said. Not that it mattered though, she was less compared to Astoria in every way.
Quickly, he took out his phone and decided to leave her a text. She was angry. She had the right to be but she should understand, he wasn't envious. He only wished he could do that with his girlfriend but he was feeling so unworthy to even try it.
Right now, all that mattered to him was reaching out to her and explaining.
"Meet me at the rooftop after your class. I would explain. I am sorry." đź’”
He locked his phone screen and kept it in his pocket. Picked up his bag and took his leave ignoring every other comment that escorted him out of there.
