Chapter 86 - Display of skills

The two mixed beasts that Rodney had feared would pose more trouble for him, surprisingly turned around to be of great help just when he needed it. They had come in for the save by tackling Erwin who proved to be quite the trouble when compared to Johan who though had put up a fight, it took less efforts and persons to subdue him.

Now that the situation with Erwin was resolved and he was out of the way, something else had happened that requested attention. Quite frankly the mixed beasts had helped Rodney in subduing Erwin, which came as a shock to him that he was still trying to process, now they had not only helped him out but had done so while also communicating with him. And even as Eiko had come up with an explanation that it could be the boy they had seen surrounded by the monkey beasts, two things made the situation hard to understand.

The first one being the fact that they had no way of proving how true Eiko's guess could be. For one, it could anything other than the boy they had all seen. One thing Rodney had quickly learnt since he appeared in the world he now found himself was that it was never wise to rule out possible outcome from a scenario.

And then the second reason was quite obvious. If not for anything, the appearance of the mixed beasts alone already made Rodney have this standard view that he would have towards all the beasts that he had faced. And that was that they were mindless and not capable of speech production. But yet again, he had been proven wrong more times than he could remember already. Now seeing the outstretched hands of the mixed beasts that bared long and sharp claws on them in front of him, he for one was certain about one thing.

"Why, why do I feel this sudden calmness towards them. What's this feeling, like I could trust that they wouldn't hurt me that I'm feeling at this moment?" Rodney questioned internally as he stared at the still outstretched hands that waited for him to grab unto to them.

"Come on, we are not going to harm you" one of the mixed beasts said with his hands slightly moved closer towards Rodney. And in front of Rodney's eyes, he could see them retract their long sharp claws. And with out hesitating this time, Rodney grabbed on to their two hands and they pulled him up from the floor. Now having stood up and was closer to them, Rodney could see them in finer details. While most of their body parts looked like that of a beast, they did manage to retain the facial features of a human only that they had slight fur patches around their faces. But other than that, it now made sense how they were able to talk effectively.

Another thing Rodney had quickly picked up as he stared at the two mixed beasts who were taller than him was, while they both had similar features, they had one feature that was quite distinct, their eye colour. One of them had blue glowing eyes and the other one had red glowing eyes. But other than that, they both stood shoulder to shoulder and pretty much looked the same with the exception of the two tails stuck behind ones back that would constantly move on it's own and intertwine with one another. While the other one obviously had no tail as it had taken it inside to form the hard scales on it's belly.

"I don't know how but you seem to be able to snap them out of their demon form. If we work together, we might be able to make them all return to normal" One with the blue eyes said facing Rodney and looking back occasionally as he spoke.

"How does it know they are in their demon form?" Rodney thought within himself but then finally settled and spoke out to the two beasts in front of him.

"Yes, I can make them return to normal. The only problem is for me to cast my spell, I have to have eye contact with them" Rodney said but before he could even get a reply from the two beasts, some other person has interrupted with no warning.

"Your spell?. Are you taking this thing serious at all?" Gypson quarrelled as he couldn't overlook the other's choice of words. But in fact, Rodney had intentionally made use of such choice of words. And this in particular was for no reason at all other than how he would look if he said it was his demon skill. Which in itself wasn't all that bad but he opted to say something else however.

"We can help with that, while you cast your SPELL" The one with the red eye spoke this time while staring at the one with the blue eyes for the last part of it. Then with everything settled, they heard a noise and as they turned to the back, they could see some one with brown hair getting up from the floor with tree stems and all sorts of things floating around him while he had his two hands lifted in the air, this was Eiko.

"Looks like we've found our next target" Rodney said as he lifted into the air and began to fly towards Eiko. While mid air, he had noticed how he was able to fly seamlessly almost like it was something he had done all his lives or like he had been born with the wings now attached to his back. But quickly putting the thought aside as he saw the two mixed beasts take charge and fly past him, he now focused on catching up as they even looked faster than he was.

In no time they had landed in front of Eiko who had his eyes set on something else, the demon that had tossed him aside to a tree. By now there was only one of the demon that was going against all four of them. And even now, it looked like they were struggling more than they did when they had to face off against the other copies. This was because the other copies proved less durable than the only one that they now had to face. They were able to damage the copies multiple times and cause it to explode into ashes and return to this one they now faced now, which was suspected to be the stronger one of them all.

But now even with all four of them attacking simultaneously, they weren't able to get a proper hold of the demon as it outclassed them in speed, strength and of course tricks. It just looked like it could do anything and was practically untouchable. They were having a tough time and taking a beaten but seem only cared less about it. This could be pinned on the state they were all in as it looked like they were all not present and in their right minds.

"Eiko, we don't have to go through all the struggle if you'd just listen to me okay?" Rodney said as he slowly walked towards Eiko. But at this moment, it didn't look like Eiko in particular was in the mood for a discussion as all he did was fly past Rodney and the numerous tree stomps went flying in front of him. But the two mixed beasts were quick to react and flew up in the air to grab Eiko's legs and pull him down. And by doing so, the rest of the objects that Eiko made to fly with him had all dropped to the floor.

"I don't have much time, can you hurry up?" One of the beasts yelled as they held Eiko to the ground. Then as Rodney rushed over to where they had Eiko pinned to the ground, he could see the other had his hands even though pinned to the ground, stretched out and was looking in that direction as well. And it didn't take long for Rodney to see why as a huge trunk floated towards where the mixed beasts had Eiko pinned.

[Shadow drive]

Rodney mumbled and threw his hands out which released a black shadow that flew towards the trunk and splashed on it like water. Then it began to spread and eventually engulfed the whole trunk before making the trunk to drop to the ground and the shadow dispersed leaving the trunk now visible.

But then Eiko looked at Rodney and with his hands stretched again this time towards Rodney, Rodney could feel a force come over him and before he knew it, he was dragged over to where the mixed beasts were and launched into them. And now Eiko was free, he paid no mind to them as he continued to fly towards where the fighting was happening. But while in the air, a shadow suddenly began to flicker and now Eiko was caught in what looked like a shadow net and dropped to the floor.

"Hurry, grab him. That thing won't hold him for long" Rodney said and immediately the twins launched at Eiko and had him pinned to the ground with the shadow next assisting them. The shadow net formed was through the skill "shadow forge". One of the skills that the "Knight's rage" mode provided Rodney. And now while he didn't exactly hate it, he was being forced to use all the skills. The downside to it was he had no idea how much energy it cost to use each skill but he could feel himself getting weaker each time he used a skill.

And as the two mixed beasts grabbed Eiko and pierced their claws into his shoulder, they could feel a force come over them. And before they knew it,the one with the blue eyes slowly began to lift its head and rammed it into the other one with red eyes knocking it off from Eiko. Now with one free hand, Eiko had it out facing the one with blue eyes that sat on top of him with both his hands around Eiko's neck.

"Raarrr!!!" The beast let out a roar with his head facing up.

"Wait, don't kill him!!!" Rodney yelled out as he saw the position the other had taken. Now he was beginning to feel some type of regret for allowing some total strangers, not even rational ones but beasts come to help him. He rushed forward to where Eiko was on the floor and found out there was no cause for alarm as the beast had its claws retracted retracted the whole time.

"If you ...don't...mind" the beast struggled to say as he had his head lifted up in the air. It was almost like he was fighting and struggling against an invisible force to keep his head on his shoulders. This was all Eiko's doing who had his his two hands pointed towards the neck of the beast.

"Shadow trance" Rodney mumbled and as his eyes met Eiko's, the other let out a scream and his hands fell to the ground giving the beast who had him pinned some relief as it also fell to the ground and laid there panting.

"Three more.." Rodney said with distaste in his voice even as his voice wasn't all too normal again.
