Right now the thoughts going through her head made no sense, either that or she was too busy being scared to process them. But one thing was for sure, the situation in her hands now was real. No, she wasn't dreaming, this was happening live and she was the only unfortunate audience at this point. What should she do to escape this..this thing?. That was the question, the big question she had no answer to it either.
Staring straight into his eyes, she could see it. This was the proverbial doom clock and finally it was her time. She saw how the rest of her men had all fallen one by one. She wasn't any different. If anything she could be said to be higher than them in the brains department but that was it. They were physically stronger than her and they were practically overwhelmed by this ungodly thing standing in front of her with eyes that conveyed only bad news and death.
But to think of it, she knew this face. She had seen it somewhere before. But just where was the big puzzle now. No it couldn't be, the feeling of familiarity was just too strong at the moment. It couldn't be that the knowledge of her demise soon to come was what was playing with her at the moment, now could it?. It all made sense to her the more she thought about it now. The face, though she hadn't seen it before, she had seen one who looked just like this, only slightly older.
"Jayden Wayne?" Hayley called out in a not so confident tone. And just when the mysterious figure had raised his hand up, he pauses mid air. But this didn't change the fact that the strange black aura around his fist hadn't died down. If anything, the only thing that had changed so far was the tone of the figure. The dark over whelming presence around him was starting to fade and soon after his eyes had gone back to normal as the complete darkness that enveloped his eyes was now gone.
"Unbelievable" Hayley managed to mutter. Though she could see he looked less threatening as to before, looking just a little to her side, she could see the body of the last of her men on the ground. This on its own was enough reminder to let her know that this person in front of her was undoubtedly dangerous.
So she did the wise thing by staying put on the ground where she sat. There was no point trying to run as she knew his speed vastly surpassed hers. Furthermore, there was no use for a gun at this point. He was basically invulnerable to it. And those were currently the two options she had. The third one would have been calling for backup but even she understand that the lives of many had already being lost. She couldn't bear the weight of the thought of knowing she had invited more men over just to simply come and die. So basically, she was a literal sitting duck at the moment waiting to be consumed by this unearthly thing in front of her.
"Run" Jayden said.
Hearing this now, she was certain she had gone insane. How could her mind be suggesting such a suicidal thing to her she thought. There was absolutely no way she would give up the few minutes she had left to make that futile attempt. She was going to sit and watch it all happen in front of her. If this was the end, at least she knew how she had been killed to begin with. This were the thoughts going through her mind as she sneaked a peek to see that the blood from the last man that had fallen had already made its way to her considering they weren't far apart.
"Why do you tempt death?" Jayden asked again with a different tone to his voice. This time it was muffled and sounded like two persons talking at once. The change had of course been noticed by Hayley as it was accompanied with the darkening of the eyes yet again. She had no choice but to back away slowly. But this time, there was no pause from Jayden as he lifted his hands covered in the black aura and brought it down on Hayley.
*Bang*
"Huh?" Hayley thought to herself as she already knew from experience she shouldn't still be thinking. She opened her eyes that she had shut out of fear slowly and that's when she confirmed two things. The first being that she was indeed still alive, the second seeing what might have actually been her rescuer.
"Dave?" Hayley called out.
"Ain't the best shot in this era for nothing". Dave responded with a smile. But Someone else wasn't taking part in all their fun. And that was Jayden as he had his sights set on the man standing in front of him with a gun. The shot Dave had taken at him itself did nothing to Jayden other than a mere distraction as the object had simply just bounced off his body causing his earlier attack to be deflected and inadvertently hitting a wall crumbling it instantly . But that was it, all it took to get him all riled up.
Hayley seeing how Jayden's attention had swiftly moved from her became even more scared. Not for her life though, this new found fear was for Dave. She knew pretty well how this would turn out in the next minutes to come and as she struggled to come up with a plan, these words were the only thing that slipped out of her mouth.
" Dave..run!!!! " Hayley begged as she stood up and hopped on Jayden's back and wrapped her hands around his neck in an attempt to choke him out. But even she was well aware that this was a stupid thing to do but if it meant it would buy the other man that stood across the hall way with a gun the chance to escape, then why not, she would gladly take that ballsy move.
But what she wasn't aware of was that Dave had no intentions of listening to her, in the first place he hadn't showed up there just to turn around and run as advised. He was here for her and he didn't plan on leaving her behind. Now obviously he knew bullets weren't working on this thing in front of him. So there was no other way out of this than a direct confrontation. An idea of his that Hayley was already implementing at the moment.
"What is that thing, a robot?. You must die!" Dave thought as he looked around to see some of the people he once knew laying on the floor lifeless. He felt so much anger right now which also confused him as this wasn't the first time he had seen such gruesome killings. No, this was different. Seeing how close he could have easily lost someone that he didn't know mattered to him that much in the first place, something in him had gone off and his body was now on autopilot as he was strictly driven by emotions at this point.
He discarded every warning signal that his brain tried to relay and was only focused on doing one thing, kill the figure in front of him and put it to rest once and for all. But for now he hadn't seen Jayden's face yet or he did but just wasn't aware who he was as regards to the change in hair colour and eyes. But all that didn't matter to him at the moment as Jayden had just flung Hayley off his back with just one hand, sending her flying an hitting her head on the wall she collided with. As If this wasn't impressive enough, the next thing left Dave completely dumbfounded.
Out of the anger and shock of what had just happened in front of him and how the strange figure had deposited Hayley to the ground so far from itself , Dave began to take shots at the strange figure and Jayden who happened to be the strange figure in question walked through every shot and with each shot he was getting angrier and his black aura was now leaking so much out of his hand that it had elongated till it touched the floor.
Dave seeing this happen before his eyes was instinctively taking steps back as he kept shooting at Jayden. Well that went on until the unbelievable thing happened, he was out of bullets. He dipped his hands desperately into his pockets in search of any reserves and couldn't find any. And that's when the sad reality hit him. "Oh sh*t.."Dave muttered to himself but that didn't go unheard by Jayden.
"Regrets, a common thing among your kind. It's what happens when you don't think things through...like how you should have done in this case. You should have listened to her and ran while you had the chance. And maybe I would have spared your soul. But you instead seek vengeance, ignorant fool, if only you knew it was something that has been right in front of you the whole time" Jayden said with his muffled voice. Nonetheless, this had gotten across to the recipient, Dave, safely. And now he had no time to think about it as the strange figure approached him the more and said more confusing things.
"You have a chance. Prove you are worthy of wielding such great weapon or I whip you for undermining me" Jayden said slowly and in the muffled voice yet again. In his hands now, were the two elongated forms of his dark aura which he held like whips.
"Undermining you?" Dave muttered as he kept on stepping back until he had hit the wall behind him.
"Show me...show me how bad you want revenge... " Jayden said and immediately lifted his hand and swung it at the one person he could find closest to him. And immediately the whip like aura in his hand travelled straight to a passed out Hayley and grazed her on the neck causing blood to be drawn.
"You evil bastard!!" Dave screamed out.
"Yessss" Jayden said as he watched a furious Dave do the reverse of what he had originally being doing and ran straight at him.
