Cameron knelt beside the bed, his hands shaking as he brushed a strand of hair from her face. "Ava, please... please wake up," he whispered, his voice breaking.
He could feel his heart racing, panic setting in as he noticed her shallow breathing. Without wasting another second, he grabbed his phone and dialled Jake's number, his fingers barely steady enough to press the buttons.
"Jake, something's wrong with Ava. She fainted, and I don't know what to do," he said, his voice thick with fear.
"I'll be right there. Stay calm and keep an eye on her," Jake replied, his tone urgent but composed.
Cameron hung up and turned his attention back to Ava, feeling helpless. He gently held her hand, his eyes filled with guilt and sorrow. "I'm so sorry, Ava. I never wanted to hurt you like this," he murmured, more to himself than to her. He knew he had to be strong, but seeing her like this shattered him.
