Ava felt tired when she returned from her home as it was her first day at the new company. She was so irritated by Cameron. When she looked at her door, it was wide open.
She was panicked to notice it. She remembered clearly that she locked the door when she left for work. After taking two steps, she found her neighbor Jake was talking to her Aunt, Garry.
As soon as her Aunt noticed her presence, she smiled and asked, " How was your first day at work? "
" Horrible..." she replied with a frown. She recollected in her mind how Nancy clung shamelessly to Cameron. She felt disgusted remembering that scene. But suddenly she found Jake smiling at her.
" How could you open the door? when the keys are with me? " She asked Jake.
" I heard a noise when I was going out. I came to check and noticed the locked door. I opened the window and found things shattered on the floor. At the same time, Aunt Garry was struggling to stand properly on her feet. I called Aunty then she walked towards me with difficulty and gave me a key. I opened the door with that key and entered inside. I made her sit on the couch and gave her some water to drink. I was supposed to call you but Aunt informed me that it was the first day in the new company. Meanwhile, you returned from your work " Jake explained to her.
She felt glad for his help and thanked him. But her expression changed immediately on seeing her Aunt.
" Didn't you take your medicine in the afternoon?" she asked her with a serious expression.
" Sorry, dear. I forgot about it" she replied timidly.
She walked away from the living hall to her bedroom leaving them alone. She was too upset with Aunt as she was so careless about her health. She tried to make her understand that she has to be careful about her medicines. Just then Aunt Garry came to her room and found her sad face.
" I am sorry. I will not skip my medicines from now on..." Aunt Garry apologized to Ava.
" How many times, have I told you to take your medicines at the correct time! " she yelled at her.
Meanwhile, Jake excused them, " May I come in! ". He had a small smile on his lips and stood with a tray of three cups.
" Please….don't show your frustration on Aunt Garry " saying he offered Ava a cup of coffee.
" Please….Jake…don't support her. She is being so careless nowadays…" Ava said sternly.
" If you are late to home, you would have called me to check on Aunt Garry…" Jake said.
Jake became so close to Aunt Garry and Ava. He was their neighbor who stays alone in the apartment. He came to the city to do a master's in Biomedical sciences. After she shifted to this apartment he used to help her. Once he took them to the hospital in his car when her Aunt fainted in the house. He was there all night to support Ava. She felt so thankful for his help but she doesn't want to disturb his studies.
…..
" Ava…."
" Ava…"
" Are you there! Where are you lost? " Jake asked, patting her shoulders.
She shrugged her shoulders and replied, " nothing…"
" If you will be late home, just call me once. " He informed her.
" But…I don't want to trouble you. You have to attend classes, " she answered.
" Come on…Ava. Don't be formal. I like to spend my time with Aunt Garry. I love to learn cooking from her…" He interrupted.
" okay…I will call you when I come late from work…" she agreed, nodding her head.
" Okay…bye. I have to go to the library " Jake turned away to leave. All of sudden, she remembered that she had to vacate this apartment and to shift to the company's flat.
" Jake…." She stopped him, holding his wrist.
He turned his head and looked at her knitting his eyebrows. " I have to shift to the company's flat by this weekend," she said in a low voice.
He smiled sadly at her and " I will miss you, especially Aunt Garry".
" Thanks for everything, Jake. You are the only person who helped when my Aunt was sick " she expressed her gratitude. He gave her a side hug and whispered, " Aunt Garry is just like my mom. And I helped to see a sweet smile on the face of my beautiful neighbour "
She pushed with a smile on her face and said, " Stop flirting…"
