ANNA POV
It was eleven PM when Samuel came to my office, which was weird since he doesn't come this late to see me like ever.
'Sorry for coming this late! But I saw that you are still in the office so...'
'What is it?'
'It's Drew, his device has notified me that he is gravely sick!'
Why is he telling me this? The kid own's a fucking hospital.
'Apparently he is alone in his penthouse and he is off-grid these three days'
'Again so?'
He looked hesitant 'Do you want me to go see him with one of the medical team?'
'And why would I want that?'
'I think he was poisoned while getting you off the mountain?' what the?
'He didn't get his wounds treated?'
'He didn't' what the heck was he thinking staying all this time without treatment?
'Did you say any of this to Douglass?'
'No! like you said before it's between us!'
'Let it be for the time being! I will take care of it myself! thank you, Samy'
It took me fifteen minutes to be in his penthouse, then his room.
His training clothes were all over the edge of his king-sized bed. As for Andrew, it was clear that he was sleeping on his bed but he was under the covers, I went straight to him, got the covers away from his head and passed the medical device over him, when I made sure his temperature was high, I uncovered his body. He was only in his boxer briefs. The smell of shampoo was still on him so he must have been training then just came, showered and slipped into bed.
While passing the device over his body I noticed that he really didn't treat his wounds. He was sleeping on his right side so I tried to put some gel on the wound on his left arm, but before I could do so he grabbed my arm and pulled me over until I was laid beside him, then he just pulled me more until his front body was pressed against my back. He pulled the covers to his waist while his arm and leg were fixing me, but in a gentle way.
I was stunned that I didn't see this coming and couldn't react until I was already moving, I could see everything but my body just refused to move which frightened me for a moment. When he tucked me in front of him, I tried to leave, but he moved his head and put it on my shoulder while talking. His voice was low and groggy, he clearly was half asleep 'just for a while please! I won't make any move on you!' like hell you would! He is really an idiot; how can he just relax after what he just did to me? Is he that trusting that I won't hurt him?
'My arm!' only when I said so that he noticed that he was putting his arm over my injured one, so he moved it under mine not away.
Since my hand was finally free, I got a small syringe from the front pocket of my pants and in one move I injected the content in his left tight.
It was clear he was still half-conscious but he didn't move or made a sound when I injected him.
I don't know if I empathized with him but I was planning to let him sleep then treat his wounds, but strangely, the while that Drew asked for, turned to hours since I too, fell asleep. That's what I discovered later.
SAMUEL POV
It was three am when our dear grandfather called my sister and me, sure, I was still awake waiting for any news coming from Anna, but he doesn't have to know.
'Where the heck is she? Samuel, you were the last one to talk to her before she leaves her office' he spat angrily.
'I don't know! You know she doesn't need to report to any of us!' hopefully he just lets it go! But I know too well he is too worried to do so.
'Is this how you are going to manage things when I'm gone? What if she collapses somewhere where we can't find her?' that's not managing that's suffocating her.
'Grandpa! You know she can't sleep. Maybe she is training somewhere' Celeste intervened.
'I'm not at ease with this, but you have until tomorrow morning, if she is not back or if we don't hear from her dispatch the search team' here it comes again! Can't she just have the freedom to build her life away from anyone's watch? She is the head of all of this for God's sake.
Once in my room, I called Damien.
'I'm really sorry to disturb you at this hour, but my grandpa is about to put the place in fire'
'Anna disappeared again?' He sounded worried. If anyone would jump in the fire without a second tough for Anna is Damien. Not that I wouldn't do the same, but he doesn't think much when it comes to her. Which is terrifying but handy in these times, since he might be ready to go against my grandfather if necessary.
'Yes! Only this time I know where she did go! She went to check on Andrew, apparently, he was poisoned while descending the mountain with her. Grandpa will dispatch the search team; sooner or later he will discover she was there and I know she doesn't want that'
He already started wearing his clothes 'I will go get her, send me his address'
'I'm really sorry! I would have done that myself but he will know the moment I move. The team will be dispatched at ten am!'
'How do you know she is still there?'
'I don't! I just hope so!!'
'It's still a chance! Call his friend ask him to check his house so I don't break in without authorization!'
'On it!'
ETHAN POV
It was about three am thirty, when I received a call from the one called Samuel. I was really disoriented, but all it took is mentioning Anna Andrew and the HAROLDS in one sentence, to get me full awake. So, I headed immediately to Drew's house while he filled me in about the whole situation.
I had access to the penthouse, so I got in directly and went straight to the bedroom, but the moment I opened the door and saw them sleeping, yeah, he was fucking spooning her, my virgin friend was with an assassin woman in his arms. As wise as I am I just closed the door, and went to the living room waiting for Samuel's call, and he did after a minute.
'Is she there? Can you put her on the phone?' well that almost got me smiling, almost!
'She is, but I can't, she is sleeping!'
'Sleeping? How do you know that she didn't lose consciousness?' He sounded shocked, she is a freaking three hundred years maybe more, why is he so shocked from her being with a man? I'm the one shocked here.
'She is just sleeping man why the panic?'
'Ok! (He looked disturbed for a moment but he got control again) please don't wake her up!' what the, was this a plea?'
I'm in no way in hell doing that for sure, so rest assured!'
'There is a man coming over in two hours, you will recognize him he was in the hospital that day his name is Damien, please fill him in!'
'Do I have to tell him that we shouldn't wake her?'
He smiled at me 'Once you fill him in you wouldn't need to do that! Thank you again!' what is that supposed to mean?
'Is there any chance he will hurt Andrew?' I had to ask, the man looked way overprotective in the hospital and he was a freaking moving mountain.
'He is unpredictable, so it depends on the situation, but he is not the kind to hurt a sick man especially someone who is sick because he helped Ann'
I stayed quiet in the living room until Samuel texted me to open the door for Damien. The moment the man heard that she was sleeping in the same room with Drew, he asked me to lead the way. He just peeked and got out, but he stayed quiet in front of the door after he closed it!
'Don't tell me you are going back in to hurt him!' His brooding expression was really terrifying for the least.
'I will wait for Anna to wake up!' He stated.
'Since that's not the answer I was waiting for I will stick to you!' Like hell I would just leave him be while Andrew looks like shit, I don't even know where he was these last days.
DAMIEN POV
When Samuel told me she was sleeping I really couldn't believe it, and we surely didn't expect seeing her sleeping peacefully in this guy's arms, for the moment I think that Samuel not knowing about this detail is good and should still this way!
But really! How is he able to put her to sleep? I mean, I'm glad she is finally able to do so. But it's just not adding up.
And, this guy Ethan he is not even giving me a chance to think properly. I know he is afraid of what I might do to his friend, I think he tough that I'm her boyfriend or husband judging from the way he is reacting, actually even if I'm not he really should be worried, if any harm gets to her while in that room, I will make mincemeat out of them.
'Be my guest! But I'm out of this house! I don't think it's appropriate to be inside when they wake up!'
ANNA POV
I started to wake up only to realize I was sleeping. How the hell did I fall asleep again? It just keeps happening when I'm beside him. I looked at the alarm clock only to get my second shock; It was eight in the morning.
I immediately got away from him.
DREW POV
I felt movement beside me. Then it all came to me. I slept with Anna. This is certainly not normal but it felt just right. How is that even possible?
I looked her way while she was heading toward the bathroom.
'Morning!' she seemed in a hurry and didn't even bother answering me right away, is she regretting what happened? Hell, nothing happened expect that we slept. Is she angry?
While I'm still freaking out with these thoughts, she came out, clearly, she went to wash her face, did she really need to sober up to answer me?
She approached me looking closely at where my wounds were, I looked there too only to be surprised that they disappeared.
'You are poisoned! I gave you a serum yesterday, it must have neutralized it for now but you must go check yourself today' She headed toward the door while putting her hair in a messy bun, hell she looks so damn sexy. Oh damn, this is not a good time. I checked that I was secure under the covers, I really don't need any misunderstanding of that kind right now.
'Are you just gonna leave like that?'
She didn't answer and just left!
DAMIEN POV
I was still waiting outside the door; The moment she came out and saw me, she looked surprised.
I smiled 'morning!' she looked healthier, and well rested, not much but the difference is there.
'Morning! Sorry! Were you waiting for long?'
'Not really! What about breakfast before we head home?' Well, I know she will check the system later but there is no need for her to know now
She smiled 'ok!' did she just accept eating out? It only means she is hungry, something that she admits rarely. Should I thank him?
We settled in an open restaurant two blocks away from Andrew's building, I just didn't want her to have enough time to change her mind about eating.
'The usual?'
'Yes, please!'
IN THE MEANTIME, IN DREW'S PENTHOUSE.
DREW POV
I took a shower, wore my pants, and exited my bedroom that's when I found Ethan waiting for me in the kitchen. Which was surprising, maybe I should just revoke his access.
He looked surprised while looking at me 'your wounds disappeared!'
'Yeah, I noticed! (I drunk a large cup of water) when did you get here?'
'Three and a half in the morning!
I put my cup aside on the kitchen bar 'are you serious right now?' what the? Why would he barge in here at such hour? I didn't even tell him or anyone I was here.
He looked at me amused 'Yes! You practically kidnapped the girl! By the way, that big guy was here for her too!' who? Damien?
I sat on the stool and took a deep breath 'Did I create some sort of a mess without intending to?'
'That aside! This is the first time ever I see you sleeping beside someone! I tough you couldn't!' Hell, he knows I can't sleep beside anyone, except her apparently, my body just keeps seeking her.
'I can't, but she just feels right! I don't know like (I put my hand on my chest) she belongs!' I really don't have another way to describe it, she just feels like a part of me.
'You know you can't just love her; you don't even know if she has a partner!' trust Ethan to bring me to the seven sky and blow me down in one move to the ground.
'A partner?'
'Yes, a partner! Like that big guy! He is just so overprotective and I can see them as a couple' Well at least I know Damien isn't her lover, more than this, I don't think she would let me touch her if she had anyone.
'She wouldn't have stayed if that was the case!'
'Would she? Why do you forget that she lived for over three hundred years, how she thinks, you might never get to understand that!' This is weird! Why is he trying to switch sides?
'Why are you ruining this for me?'
'No, I'm not! I'm just telling you that you must know where you stand first, besides, I didn't think that you, getting out of control, would mean for me to keep watch, afraid for hours that mountain would decide to just barge in and kill you'
'He saw us too?'
'He did! and he just chose to wait outside the door, I mean the penthouse door'
BACK TO THE OTHER TWO.
DAMIEN POV
While we were eating our breakfast, even in our way she really looked relaxed compared to her normal self, which made me in a way happy, but also worried as to how it came to this.
I smiled 'you look relaxed!'
'I slept well!' she just stated blatantly.
'Glad to hear that! Do you want to talk about it?' she is not the chattiest person on the planet but she sometimes opens up, I just hope this is one of those times.
'Penelope told you!'
'She told me that you are confused about what is happening, and that you even stepped in to do your own research without a result so far!'
'True!'
'Is it that bad that you drop your guard around someone?' I was genuinely curious. Sure, we are worried as to who might get into her life, but in the same time, I really do hope she can get someone. As long as he can make her happy. As strange as this might seem, this guy even if I don't know if he can make her happy, he is already doing her good.
'For me, yes!' she is clearly intending to end our discussion at this, but I'm not yet finished.
'Do you like him?'
She looked at my eyes surprised from the abruptness of the question 'No! You know I don't do feelings! Or at least of this kind!' Hell, I know that very well, you just shut your heart to everyone and everything, but there are always exceptions and he already broke the physical barrier that no one could break.
'But you slept well and you feel relaxed around him, which means he is good for you!'
'He is! But where are you going with this?' at least she confessed, which means she is well aware of the situation and won't just put a blind eye.
'You know you don't have to give accounts to anyone. If you want to live with him no one will have the right to say anything. If you want to just take him in, only to be able to sleep we will spare no effort to get him for you, you just have to say the word!'
She smiled at me then laughed, well it was a stupid proposition but I need to know where she stands, and if she wants it done, I will do it 'Damn! You are serious!'
'I am serious!' and I was.
Suddenly she started shedding tears, she wiped them and tried to stop, but she couldn't, which freaked me out. I started panicking and didn't know what I did that caused her this!
It was clear that she was trying desperately to stop her tears but she couldn't, I helped her wiping them but nothing worked and it started to attract a lot of attention. So, I decided to move from here.
After ten minutes, we were in a park near the restaurant.
I took some steps away from Anna and called Penelope, I just didn't know how to handle this. This is Anna we are talking about; she just doesn't cry or show any kind of strong emotions.
'Just teleport here Penelope I really don't know if I screwed up, or if I need to go kill him'
'Coming! Just don't let her alone!'
My sweet Penelope doesn't need any introductions she is the brainy girl in our generation, that's why she is the head of the research team and the head of the main lab in the HAROLD ENTREPRISES. Rosy pale skin, blue eyes and ash blonde hair, five feet five inches with a curvy body. The woman that I'm going to spend the rest of my life with.
I got back and sat beside her, in two minutes; Penelope approached us and squatted down in front of her while putting her hands on each knee.
Anna still crouched; her face in her hands.
'You shouldn't have told her!'
'You are not a mountain Anna! You are human! And humans do break down from time to time, don't worry I covered our tracks! (Started talking to me) her breathing is way too short! Did she try to breathe deeply?'
'She tried but she couldn't!'
'Ann, sweety, do you need to go to the clinic?' was it that serious?
'No, I can manage! You can go! Douglass will know!' Hell, you can, look at you. And Fuck Douglass right now, why is she even thinking about him, is she afraid for that dick head Andrew that he will get into a mess bigger than him?
'That's the last of my worries! We are not leaving you here alone, so don't test your body only to faint at the end'
Suddenly someone talked behind us. It was none other than Andrew fucking GILLIAM. How the hell did he know we were here.
