Chereads / Found A Bossy Merman Husband / Chapter 8 - Security

Chapter 8 - Security

To his surprise, the merman reacted even more strongly. He actually bared his teeth at him and let out ear-piercing cries.

"Oh my god!"

The boy was so scared that his face turned pale. After all, if they really fought, he was no match for Mr. Mermaid.

I hurried to hug the merfolk's arm and comforted him. "Don't be afraid. He doesn't have any evil intentions."

"Does he not understand human language?" The boy, not daring to move, huddled in a corner. His voice was trembling.

"He doesn't understand at the moment." I smiled apologetically at him and led the merman inside.

This convenience store only had slippers and no other shoes.

I had no choice. Having slippers was better than being barefoot.

When I took my slippers and was about to pay the bill, a plump middle-aged man entered the room.

He pointed a pistol at the boy in the shop.

"Take out the money!"

The boy, not daring to tarry, hastened to do as he was told, and from time to time, he looked in my direction.

His actions caught the attention of the robber.

The robber was the first to see Mr. Mermaid. He was shocked by his size and shouted angrily, "Hey! You! Come out!"

This time, the other party was really unfriendly. Mr. Mermaid was infuriated again.

He made another piercing noise and strode toward the robber.

The robber was obviously frightened. He pointed his gun at the merfolk and shouted, "Don't come over! If you come any closer, I'll shoot!"

But Mr. Mermaid could not understand a word he said. He only knew that he was offended by this fat man.

Seeing the merman approaching, the fat man panicked and ran out of the convenience store.

The merfolk obviously did not want to let him go, and actually chased after him.

"Come back!" I shouted. I put down my slippers and ran after him.

Mr. Mermaid caught up with the robber and grabbed his collar before dragging him to the ground.

After a scream, the fat man began to struggle violently.

But he was clearly no match for the merman.

Seeing that he was being resistant, the merman simply raised his foot and stomped on his stomach.

"Ouch—"

The robber screamed and shouted, "I'm going to call the police to arrest you!"

How ironic!

The merman gave him a few more kicks, then lifted him off the ground and bit him hard in the neck.

The next moment, the fat man screamed shrilly. I was too scared to move.

When the merman released him, I saw that the mouth of the merman was stained with the fat man's blood. It looked terrifying.

He seemed to have gotten tired of playing and let go of the fat man. The fat man quickly ran away in fear.

The merman picked up the gun on the floor and walked over to me. His ferocious expression faded and he put on a friendly smile again.

He put the pistol happily in my arms, as if it were a trophy.

I couldn't help but wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth with my sleeve. Then I checked the gun and saw that there wasn't a single bullet inside.

"Let's go and buy some slippers."

I led him back to the convenience store. The boy cowered in the corner in terror. "Don't bite me," he begged. "Please…"

It seemed that the boy had seen the mermaid teaching the fat man a lesson.

I put the gun down on the bar and said a little helplessly, "Don't worry, I won't let him hurt you."

"Is there… something wrong here?" The boy pointed at his brain.

I looked troubled. I didn't know how to answer his question. Was I supposed to say that this tall gentleman didn't actually belong to a human but to a kind of fish species?

"Maybe," I answered reluctantly, then quickly brought the slippers over to pay.

I feel awkward staying here for even a second longer.

Outside the convenience store, the merman put on his slippers happily and walked back and forth several times, as if he wanted to fully feel the pair of slippers.

"Isn't it comfortable? That way, you can walk normally like me."

He nodded, then took my hand.

I turned him down with the intention of pushing the bike, but he wouldn't budge. He snatched the bike from me.

Then he pushed the bike with one hand and led me forward with the other.

It seemed that he was very used to human life.

The thought of him punishing the robber made me feel very relieved.

With him around, no one would dare to bully me, right?

How great would it be if I could have met him when I was living in the orphanage when I was young?

This way, those kids who were older and fiercer than me wouldn't dare to corner me and bully me.

"If only you'd shown up earlier."

Thinking of the past, I leaned against his arm sadly.

The moment we entered the house, the rain outside suddenly became heavier.

The raindrops hit the window hard. It sounded very noisy.

But the mermand didn't seem to hear it. As soon as we returned, he started pacing back and forth in my room.

He would touch this and that. He was extremely curious about everything.

A loud thunderclap from the sky startled me.

I'd been afraid of lightning since I was a kid, especially when I lived alone. I was so scared I couldn't sleep at night.

Tonight was the case too, but I wasn't living alone anymore.

I wondered if his fishtail would ever change back. Before that, I needed to get him to sleep with me.

"Let's go and rest."

I stepped forward and took his hand before leading him to the bedroom.
