I felt lingering fear at the thought of his suffering.
If this hotel wasn't around, we wouldn't have been able to find a place with water in time. What would have become of him?
Would he have a fishtail on the street? Or would he be covered in spots and die in pain?
I couldn't imagine it, because I was starting to realize that I couldn't seem to leave him anymore.
And it wasn't like we could afford to come here for another hour or so.
He didn't have any identification. That would make me look suspicious with him.
"Oh." (I dragged you down)
"Don't say that. I'm sure we can find a way to prolong this," I assured him.
He smiled, then leaned his head against the side of the tub and closed his eyes. He seemed tired.
I got up and walked out of the bathroom before closing the door softly behind me.
This room wasn't big, and it didn't have any windows. I laid sideways on the bed and a wave of exhaustion hit me.
