Chapter 5 - Load and Save

Essentially, there are just two options on the page.

"Save"

"Load"

What in the world are these for, exactly?

He pressed the "Save" button on his screen.

A new notification window appeared once more.

"Progress has been saved."

"Huh?"

Will looked at the notification with a puzzled expression on his face. What exactly does the term "Saved" mean?

After that, no additional prompts appeared, and he is therefore unable to comprehend what is going on. (A/N: No one would really imagine having save and load functions.)

A huge sound could be heard towards the back of the home, but he didn't have time to think about it further.

The house he's in is exactly the same house he used to live in when he was in the real world.

By today's standards, it's a pretty safe place to be. The property is surrounded by a ten-foot concrete wall, with a sturdy iron fence serving as the entrance gate. In a post-apocalyptic world like this, it's the primary reason why the house has survived so long.

That was something he remembered from his first exploration of the house. In his confirmation, he stated that the gate is still in good condition and that there are no breaches in the perimeter walls.

I'm thinking about that right now. He had a faint recollection of hearing crashes and bangs while he was starving. He was, on the other hand, laying down and in a delusional state at the time. He doesn't have the authority or the motivation to do something about it.

With the aid of his healing potion, he was able to recover. His HP has been replenished, and he has regained mobility. He's still on the third level of the house, where he belongs. Knowing that the noise did not come from inside, he walked to the side of the house that faced the back of the building.

Taking a look out the window. He took a peek around at his familiar backyard. This side of the house also faces the rear of their next-door neighbor's home.

He can clearly see a body hanging from the ceiling of their third-story apartment through a window on the third level. The body has a rope wrapped around its neck.

That the body is moving around while suspended in mid-air is the most bizarre aspect of it all.

After discovering that he had been infected, it's likely that the guy attempted to commit suicide, but the virus managed to change his body into a zombie.

Will appears to be gaining the courage he lacked in his past life as a result of his newfound abilities.

Normally, in these kinds of situations, Will simply disregard the issue and find an excuse to get back to doing anything else.

He does, however, have a game-like system running in his thoughts. With a terrible and twisted attitude, to be sure. He considers himself to be in a game in this situation.

The character Will, in the gaming universe, is a well-known gamer. He is considered to be among the best. His demeanor in the game is completely different from his real-life demeanor.

With all of his game-like abilities, his gamers instincts have now been triggered.

Curiosity having sparked, he decided to go into the outer world for further information. What what is going on with these zombies is a mystery.

He went through his closet and discovered a leather jacket that belonged to his father. In addition, he changed into a pair of pants. He also discovered a pair of steel-toed boots that had previously belonged to their gardener, which he put on.

Unfortunately, he can't seem to find a more substantial weapon than a kitchen knife to defend himself.

He attempted to open the big iron gate, but quickly realized that he would be unable to do so due to his lack of strength. Because the gate is utilized for automobiles, it is automatic and requires electricity to function properly. Additionally, the mechanism that operates it is already rusted out, so it is most likely stuck at this point.

In addition to the main gate, there is a smaller door for pedestrians just alongside it. It is constructed of the same hefty iron as the main gate, but it is designed to accommodate humans.

He attempted to pull it open but soon discovered that it was rusty as well as rusted. After several attempts to loosen the lever, he was finally able to pry the metal door open with his bare hands.

He took a few steps back to make sure the area was clean before cautiously walking down the street.

A little further up the street, he noticed two zombies ambling past.
