"I don't make empty promises, Your Highness," Vincent Chazin said to Prince Nicien who slightly smiled.
"I expect that much from a royal guard whose loyalty is considered their dignity," the Prince remarked and made a deliberate pause before he asked, "Have you heard about the arrival of Crown Prince Linus?"
Vincent nodded. "I heard about it while we were out hunting. I guess the attack and... the news of my death brought him here."
Nicien Vamieres remained quiet for a while before he said, "He won't give up easily and... I can see that he is one intelligent being."
"That's right," the former guard replied. "I may be his best friend who has stayed beside him for years but I often failed in reading him or calculating his moves. You will never be able to guess what he's up to."
Nicien Vamieres stood still without uttering a word as he thought of what he should do. Then he heard Vincent.
