Chapter 36 - Zombies: The Liberation of Europe

It took 19 months to get Europe under control.

After Switzerland and Liechtenstein were cleaned up. We reached out to the Germans, the French and the Italians. They've done a good job with using the injection vaccine to slow the number of new zombies being created. That's what happens when you talk directly to the ground troops.

Honestly all we had to do was sit back and let the more motivated men and women liberate themselves.

A few assassinations here and there, and everything was going fine.

We were simply biding our time in Bern. Contacting the Spaniards and Portuguese was an exercise in patience. I just told the Italians to take care of it, while we try and accelerate the development on production of the cure.

This is why you have production plants in the country you originate from.

Taking over pharmaceutical and chemical production facilities, all around Europe was a major hurdle. Mainly because they were heavily protected by bitch-made politicians and corrupt officers. The surrenders were usually pretty quick however, I mean seeing your 'boss' get cut up into small pieces usually does the trick. Or seeing Whitebeard.

Man does that guy scare the living shit out of everyone.

8 months into the whole vaccine and military campaign, we developed not only the airborne version of the cure, but also an effective deployment method. Using the principals of a smoke curtain on WW2 naval warships and planes, and water bomber aircraft, we effectively could get the cure out in a fraction of the time.

Most of out test runs happened in relatively unpopulated areas and test ranges. We also noticed that over time, the zombies would start eating their own or any digestible biomatter. The scientists confirmed it was due to a parasite influencing the body.

So the bodies were cremated. Some people were reminded of Europe's dark history with mass cremations, but we couldn't be politically correct or sensitive at a time like this.

Makeshift crematoriums were set up all over the place, and the military and police were trained in how to run them. It was morbid business. I volunteered to be the body loader at the beginning. I did not enjoy doing it, and I really hope no one ever has to see hundreds of bodies reduced to ash every hour.

It's different when you're using magic from a fair distance. Or even a firearm or flamethrower. It's a matter of survival, so you return to your training.

Stacking bodies, five bodies wide and 3 bodies high, is enough to break anyone.

Madara and I came up with a system. I would use the music from my BGM Player to draw the zombies to a controlled area, the others would herd the stragglers. And once as many zombies as possible are there, burn them.

That was out job for the last 7 months. All over Europe.

The British were very receptive of our help, then they turned on us. Well more like turned on me and Master Roshi. Well, I suspected that some cunt would pull this move, didn't expect it to be an Englishman. In hindsight I should have. All the inbreeding has finally caught up with them. England no longer exists. I also robbed the United Kingdom blind. Be happy I just killed a few thousand people. Madara or Odin would simply the entire island.

That was two months ago. It took me two whole months to rob what the British stole from their colonies. I honestly have no use for it, I'll give it back to the region where it's from. It's the thought that counts. Being unreasonably petty is quite fun.

So the British were brought in line with the rest of Europe. They can use all their impotent rage to write a letter to the BBC.

Now it's just a matter of vaccinating the populace and getting major infrastructure up and running. Road, rail, electricity, water, natural gas, petroleum, communications, etc.

These things are best left to the locals.

Whitebeard move several oil tankers closer to the shore. Resupplying several waterborne vessels crucial to the efficient operation of a port.

Weirdly, Eastern Europe was faring really well. Their infrastructure systems were mostly intact. The interoperability of the reginal forces was excellent. The supply chain wasn't completely wrecked. And as always, it was the cities that bore the brunt of the disease, but the consequences for those in remote or smaller settlements was worse.

Entire villages and towns, gone. Lost to the new plague.

It is time to move into Asia Minor and Anatolia. From there. we can re-establish the Mediterranean infrastructure to move either into Egypt and Northern Africa, or Persia.

That's enough vacation time, back to work.
