Chapter 3 - Real mother

Andreas turned around as he noticed Roselyn was not following him, he raised an eyebrow: "Do I have to force you to follow me or.."

She quickly rushed to walk behind him before he could even finish his sentence.

'I don't want you to turn me into a toad. He's one of the most handsome boys I've ever seen, with his straight teeth and prominent jaw. But I know from experience how all the most handsome boys happen to be also the most arrogant mean one and he probably was the exception that proves the rule.'

Roselyn thought, she needed to be certain that he was harmless before opposing his commands.

"I'll take it as a compliment," he replied, smiling lightly nonchalantly.

She looked at him confused, was he talking to himself? He wasn't only a powerful sorcerer but also insane. The day couldn't get any better.

"I can read minds. I have to warn you in case you weren't smart enough to realize that I was answering to your thoughts."

Roselyn widened her eyes in shock, which meant that she couldn't be able to think about anything without him reading her mind.

She couldn't hush her thoughts, even if she wanted to.

All that new world was too complicated for her and she felt like she didn't even belong there.

"Your destiny is already written and you still do not understand how lucky you are. Millions of girls would pay to take your place." He talked like he was reading a script as if he wasn't showing any visible facial emotion at all.

Roselyn wondered if he may be a robot due to his lack of empathy.

She put her hand over her mouth when she remembered that he could read his mind, however it was too late. Indeed, he rolled his eyes.

"I'm not a robot, Roselyn. Now take off your clothes." He commanded, with an annoying voice.

"I have a boyfriend. Just because I mentioned in my thoughts that you're attractive doesn't mean I will involve in intimacy with you." She stated, folding her arms.

"Don't worry, not my intention. You're not my type anyway. Now hurry up, wear this." He said sharply as he handed her a very tight suit, probably made of leather material.

"Black doesn't suit me." she rectified, checking the bodysuit's elasticity and shrugging handling it back to him.

"Fine. Then, you'll have to walk through storms and fire in your uniform." He rolled his eyes.

Fire and storms? After hearing that her terrible nightmares didn't seem so terrible after all. She swallowed down, taking a resigned breath as she glanced at the suit he gave her.

"Turn around."

She finally said. She wasn't very comfortable being watched while getting undressed. The suit, however, wasn't helping, it was extremely high and uncomfortable. She had to stretch it to make it fit her in.

Andreas turned around and raised an eyebrow, he stared at her body for a few seconds and then talked again:

"If it's too small I.."

"So now you're commenting on my body shape?" Roselyn said, getting upset and folding her arms.

She hated to be so paranoid and touchy but she couldn't help it.

"I'm not. It's just that you need to be comfortable."

Rose rolled her eyes, hardly believing his answer.

"We need to go Enchantress." He said walking away.

"This dream is boring. Where are the enemies to fight?" She started laughing before he could open the door. Her joke wasn't funny to him, he glowered at her.

"Roselyn, listen, where's your mom?" He asked in an arrogant tone of voice.

She looked at him confused. "She's at home."

"Your real mom, not your stepmother. She left you when you were three. She was very powerful and she had this rune on her left shoulder." He gently touched the wall surface on which appeared a sign.

It couldn't be a dream because she barely could remember that sign but on the wall, it was dug in perfectly. That was the proof that she needed , but it wasn't making her feel any better. On the contrary, she was now confused and concerned at the same time.

"You're an Enchantress. Being an Enchantress is a privilege for wizards and sorcerers. Your powers are very hard to manage, and that's why I'm here with you. I'll teach you how to control them, how to appreciate them. I also have to inform you that I don't like lies and that I always find out when people are lying, so I suggest that you avoid any behavior you used to have in the past."

"Seriously?" She interrupted his speech, her voice broke.

It was too much to deal with, he seemed to know everything about her, he knew about her mom, and now even about her turbulent past. How dare he make assumptions and treat her like that?

The behavior he was referring to was probably the fact that two years ago she used to rebel partying and skipping school frequently. Not that it helped. Conversely, it was making her feel bad. But still, somehow, she was forgetting for a night all her problems and everything she went through.

Then she met Mark, who held her hand and helped her to have a fresh start. She gave up her rebellious life to start a new one. She found herself again, she quickly regained the love and trust of her parents and, in a few months, she was finally a peaceful free spirit.

Andreas completely ignored her saying to continued his speech:

"Today I'll help you to explore your powers. I'll show you what you're capable of." He was staring at her, waiting for an answer. She nodded.

She couldn't figure out what her purpose was there. But his attitude wasn't giving her any chance to disobey.

He took her hand and they both walked through that door.

It led them to a gloomy forest, but there wasn't any plant or tree left.

"Are you ready?" He asked aloud.

"Yes." She murmured unsurely.

She wasn't ready at all, and they both knew that.

But for the first time in her life, she felt like she was doing what she was supposed to do. Finally finding out the truth about her mom was her main purpose and the sign Andreas showed her, was making her feel a step away from doing so.

She now had the certainty that it was not a dream and, for some reason, it was making her happy.

Maybe her mother wasn't missing, maybe her mother was still alive, looking for her. And it was her task to find out.
