Chapter 117 - The Merchant Father

When I appeared back in Ruby's room, I searched everywhere I could for a glimpse of her childhood and memories. I wanted to know who she was... and how she got to that point. I should've asked her as soon as I thought of it, but I hesitated, and now I'm left to my devices to find out more.

I opened up a strange pink box that was taped shut very vividly. Like it was to be known that something was hidden...

I ripped the tape off after a few seconds and opened up the box to see a photograph. It was darkened and ripped and scratched to all hell, but I could see who it was that was ruined within it.

It was Ruby's father.

So, there's more to this story than I saw in that memory.

I scanned the picture some more before working to push it out of the frame itself, turning it over and seeing a message written on the bottom.

"You know what he did. 12:41 P.M." Is all it said.

There was no way I could find out anything else about the photograph, not without a glimpse into a memory... but how do I get to another memory?

I'm usually sucked into a memory before I can actually understand how it happened, so I decided to look around Ruby's room some more.

I wasn't sure that this was her actual room, but it had that staff in it that I first saw her with, along with some drawings on the wall and stars hanging off of the ceiling. The curtains were pink with a cute design on them and the carpet was a dark red. The bed was loaded with white sheets and blankets and to top it off, the entire room looked like it was one big sphere. I couldn't explain the shape it took, but it certainly wasn't a normal room.

I trudged through some more of her belongings before opening up her closet and finding myself in another memory. The transition into this memory was just a simple blink and I was sitting at a table with a candle lit in the middle, followed by people in green cloaks that blocked their faces.

"And what are your sales looking like, Jake?" One of the cloaked figures said.

I walked into the dark cellar further, and none of them were able to see me, just as I assumed. I walked over to the figure that stood up after having his name called on, assuming it was Jake. Without any faces, this would be a hard mystery to solve. Who was I looking for here?

"Ahem, I've totaled over three thousand gold. Two thousand of which were used to boost sales. Now, our sale prediction is looking to be over ten thousand for next month." The man named Jake said.

"Very good. You may take a seat." One of the cloaked figures said.

I noticed they were all dressed the same. Nobody had a definitive style to their clothing to show off that they were the leader... that was probably the most overlooked thing out of all organizations I've ever seen, and they nailed it right on the head without fail. I'm intrigued with this mysterious group now.

"And you, Devin?" The leader asked again.

"Sir, we're looking at five thousand in sales. But, we wanted your permission before investing in another underground warehouse in Olympia." Devin told the leader guy.

Oh? Warehouses underneath Olympia? Could he be referring to New Olympia...? I needed more information...

"Are you sure you want to do that? I hear that if you dig into a specific location, you might run into Prism's Headquarters. Other than that, you're free to dig." The leader said.

I didn't really have a reaction to that. I didn't care.

Oh, wait, I guess that is pretty important. It didn't make a whole lot of sense though, considering that building the headquarters of an 'evil' organization under the capital of our continent didn't seem very smart.

Eh, what would I know? I'm not the leader of an evil organization that takes joy in killing people. Maybe that's what they do.

"And you, Charlie. What are your sales like?" The leader guy asked.

"Only a thousand sir. Sorry, I've been spending time with the family recently." Charlie said.

So, maybe he would be a culprit for Ruby's father... he seems like a family man, but I need more information.

"It's fine... but you need to do better. You have one more month to improve. If you don't, you will be terminated. Are we clear?" The leader guy asked again.

"Yes, sorry sir," Charlie said.

"Got it. I would hate to do that to Ruby." He said.

Well, at least I found out who Ruby's father was...
