"So, it all started with me waking up in this room. There were tons of people, and I had this friend, named Fuki. Fuki and I were two Heroes, so we were destined to save the land. Before we woke up in that room, we were told by this weird guy what we had to do, and then we were given weapons and abilities, and then sent out!" I explained.
"A weird guy? Okay, what happened next?" Mom asked me. I was surprised by how interested she was in my adventures. I shoveled food into my mouth and began again.
"Then, we got out of the room and we were given rooms and stuff within this castle! It was like we were talking to medieval royalty! It was insane! But, we went on a mission to clear out these Demons from our wall. We wanted to build it to keep the people safe and to expand civilization, but they killed these Demons and acted like it was fine, even if they resembled humans a lot." I told her before taking another bite.
"Demons huh? If they looked like Humans, why would they kill them?" Mom asked me again.
"Well, that's the thing. I was conflicted and didn't kill any myself, but I supported the people who did. I couldn't do it, they resembled humans far too much. Then, I was accused of being one because of the skills that I had! Isn't that insane?! The people we killed looked so much like me that I was thought to be one. And, instead of being killed like the others, they exiled me. That doesn't even make sense!" I said outraged. This food is really good...
"You were exiled instead of killed? Why did they do that? I know you were a Hero and everything, but why wouldn't they kill you if they suspected you to be one of those demon-human things?" Mom asked me. I went on a tangent again until I stopped to think about what she said.
Why wouldn't they kill me? That... was a really good point.
I had just blindly accepted that I was seen as a Demon at that point and almost went through with the actions of the people the King hated. But, now that I consider it, they should've killed me. Why didn't they?
"Before I continue... why do you think they kept me alive?" I asked Mom. She traced her bowl with her small spoon and looked up toward the ceiling, processing the thought.
"Well, it sounds like they thought you to be too useful. If they exiled you, you're still alive, you're just not under the care of the Kingdom. That makes sense, right?" She asked again.
"It does... I was just wondering why they would keep me alive. Maybe I had something they wanted..." I said, thinking about everything I had. They couldn't have known that I would have the things to help them. I teased some technology, but it isn't exactly life-changing, not in a world with spells or mana.
"I met some people once I was exiled. A group of them were injured. I used my healing spells to help and they brought me back home. That's when I learned the truth of everything. I learned that they weren't demons, they were innocent people subject to the terrible kingdom's rule. I separated myself after that and decided to focus on myself to improve the kind of Hero I was. I learned how to make potions and used them to help the people." I told her again. I was done with my food as I explained and put the bowl by the sink, sitting back down at the table with Mom and Shima.
"They were good potions though, right? I mean, anything Shima or you makes is of the best quality. Oh, and did you sell them?! If they were good, they probably sold for a fortune!" Mom commented. It was something about her comment that told me that this was fake. Nobody thinks like that.
It was interesting to hear the way she always asked questions that furthered my thinking about this game, rather than trying to understand what was happening. It came off as an illusion that she cared but between the points, she brought up and the questions she asked, it was only used to help me out. That being said, maybe I can ask the right questions to get the answers I needed.
"I ran into trouble with some guy after gaining some companions. He used this giant ice spell on me after playing off his identity, and he seemed to know me... but he wiped out a town I resided in and took out all of my friends. I still don't know why he did it, or why he was so weak afterward." I told her.
Obviously, that was a lie. I know all of these things. I know why he did it, and I know why he was weak. It was a Limit Breaker. The same one I used to kill Zeus. [Borealis] was the name of it.
"Hm... maybe it's because he was tired? And who knows why he did it. A lot of people do things for no reason. Maybe it was selfish, maybe it wasn't. I'm sorry he attacked you. Were you hurt at all?" She asked me.
"A little, but, I made it. That's all I really remember from the dream, besides meeting some friends and moving toward another city." I explained to my mom. She nodded and stood up to put her bowl away.
"What an interesting dream! It sounds like you were a great Hero to me... no matter what that bad man did to you. You tried your best, I know you did, right?" She asked me again.
"I did. Well, now that breakfast is done, now what? Is it summertime yet?" I asked her, but she shook her head and handed me my backpack.
Oh no... school? Are you serious?! What kind of game was this?!
