In the midst of a large war against the first two civilizations, Olympia and Newguard, a burst of a rare type of energy shot out of Olympia. There were tons of people who died in this fight, and as their souls were escorted up into the sky to Yggdrasil, he dropped a tree branch into the ground.
When that tree branch impacted the ground, a surge of mana shot over the entire planet of Erinautis. This was the Humans first exposure to Mana, and most reacted negatively. As over ninety percent of the population was killed from exposure, and the other ten percent were slowed down and died in their middle ages, their kids were products of unfathomable power as they exercised the true capability of this mana.
The generation before them, known as the Dead Generation, all died out by the time they reached fifty. This was considered old age for them, and they died by turning into dust. Their bodies, being pulled to the maximum capabilities, just gave up on them. However, their children... didn't.
The children were prosperous beings who reignited the spark that is human civilization. It is unknown how humans even got to Erinautis, but they were there, and they made the most of it.
Several foundations of mana were built upon. Spells weren't figured out for a long while, but they were able to use it in strange ways to benefit them, such as doctor work, meditation, and other insignificant tasks.
One day, the purpose of mana changed. It was about four hundred years after the last member of the Dead Generation passed away, but it seemed to come as quickly as they died out. This new purpose of mana, which was the invention of spells, changed the world.
The person who created the first spell, only known as Amaterasu, brought a great change. The first spell, known as [Bullet], came from a strange branch that landed onto the ground after the fight of Newground and Olympia. This war gave birth to a spell that Amaterasu first discovered, but has been there since the branch landed on the ground. Amaterasu stole this branch and used it to dominate over all of the people, gaining the power of royalty not more than a year after discovering [Bullet].
This, however, was a mistake, as Amaterasu's influence on these spells prompted others to devote their lives to discovering more. These people were known as Disciples.
Disciples, against Amaterasu's wishes to leave spells out of History, discovered more and more. Amaterasu made an effort to rid the world of this Disciples publicly to shame the act of discovering more spells, and before soon, she locked down the whole area and established absolute rule.
This was the first emergence of the First Pretorian City: Sun Surface.
Sun Surface had a hot climate and buildings made of mud, sandstone, and a rare mana substance that also fell from the tree covering Erinautis's world. This mana substance is only exclusive to Pretorian cities, as it won't survive anywhere else.
Amaterasu, as her age inevitably increased, had a few children with just a normal citizen, as she believed they had the most power since they had the most exposure to this mana while working in the fields all day. Their children resulted in even more powerful beings. Children who were taught spells at a young age, and the first sign of Pretorian's Explosion.
Aimy, Amaterasu II, and Clio were three daughters of Amaterasu and her husband, and grew up under strict rule to become the best mana-wielders. Amaterasu had no idea what would become of her children, but one has a special talent.
Amaterasu II, who shared a name with her mother, had an affinity for a certain type of mana that attracted the fire element. When sitting next to bonfires and practicing mana, Amaterasu II would be able to steal the fire and wield it to her own discretion. She discovered this on accident while on a punishment from her father. Her mistake caused him to be burned severely, and Amaterasu took a close notice to this daughter of hers.
As Amaterasu II was pushed to her limit for several years, Aimy and Clio escaped from their mother's grasp and went on to establish their own cities with their power and influence. There was a ton of conflict in between, but most of it is pointless and lost to the years.
Amaterasu II, while her sisters escaped, was stuck in torture and trying to figure out why she was able to move this element. This ensued for three years, day in, and day out, trying to understand why only Amaterasu II was able to move the bonfire. Then, it clicked in Amaterasu's head.
It was a spell.
And when this broke out into the public, many people learned how to manipulate fire. The most powerful skill ever created. Several Fire Wielding Citizens decided to start an uprising after suspecting that Amaterasu was hiding this from them... but that wasn't the truth.
That's not talked about in the history books, however.
The people don't care about what actually happened, they only care about the present, while they pretend to care about what happened, as if it makes the present seem so much better.
Things are bad in Pretoria. They always have been... but this wave of terrible events and news that keeps on coming are due to one man... the husband to Amaterasu, and his descendants.
A sub-section of the Pretoria history stands under a man named Aglio Pretoria. Aglio, whose daughter was the first to wield fire, was freed from Amaterasu's prison of love, and he went off to join Aimy and Clio in establishing a new city, one where Amaterasu wasn't let in. Aglio and his actions, however, would lead to the brimming destruction of the first civilization.
Aglio, after his life ended, housed the protection of a young girl who was lucky enough to escape from Amaterasu's terrible reign. This young girl, also said to have moved a bonfire with her mind, was immediately sent out of the country by Amaterasu II, where she was safe under Clio.
Now, the Pretoria name, more like a signifying fact, came from the city we reside in. Ken Pretoria held this name because he was born in a Pretorian city. Clio Pretoria, Aimy Pretoria, Amaterasu Pretoria, and Aglio Pretoria may have been in the same family, but they share their names because of where they resided. Ken is in no way related to any of these Pretorians he talked about.
