Chapter 95 - The Final Strike: Fuki and Anima

Zeus was doing everything but what we needed him to do. He was narrowly escaping our attempts to push him closer to the water so I could use my Limit Breaker.

He was moving erratically as well. His dodges became much more refined, as beforehand Zeus had been sloppily dodging each and every strike Fuki threw at him.

No matter how much we worked together on pushing Zeus to the water, he refused to go, which raised another suspicion... why?

He couldn't possibly know that my Limit Breaker had to be shot off in the water, so why was he avoiding it so much? Was that his weakness or something?

No, that wouldn't make any sense. The Air Element's weakness wasn't water... so why was he so afraid? Did he somehow know about my Limit Breaker?

Fuki slashed upwards as I was lost in thought thinking about why Zeus was so scared of the water, and he missed his strike, but on his way down, he cut Zeus open like he was fruit.

There was no more lack of blood, in fact, it was quite the opposite. The strikes Fuki was throwing out at Zeus now were loaded with strength and every time Fuki hit him, Zeus was strained in some way. Was he really getting weaker?

Fuki landed beside me after running at Zeus and panted heavily as well.

"He's definitely getting weaker. I didn't expect us to fight somebody this powerful... but he's really falling apart up there. Got any ideas?" He asked me again.

"No... I'm not exactly sure what's happening myself. I don't get why he was such a pain in the ass before, but now he's slowly fading out. Was it really that straining on him?" I asked myself out loud.

Fuki and I both dodged at the same time as Zeus shot off a skill at us. We landed far apart, but nodded and ran closer to each other again.

We both initiated the Fire Triangle attacks from Fuki's arsenal and Zeus backed up again... he was getting closer to the water now.

This is getting pretty anticlimactic. Zeus really wasn't putting up a fight anymore and he was taking a ton of damage. I predict that within the next thirty seconds... he would be dead.

I launched off [Cannon] at him and Zeus took the hit. He didn't even move... he just fell over onto the floor after floating down from the air.

"What is with you? You had such a mighty God complex and now you're a shell of the man you used to be." I asked him, walking over to Zeus with my staff primed.

"I have my body back... but it's not truly mine." Zeus, or should I say, Ono said.

Ono threw up what looked like a galloon of blood and looked up to Fuki and me. I was surprised, looking at Ono after fighting so hard against Zeus for so long, he was finally back... or was he?

"Anima... Fuki... before I lose control again... may I ask a request out of you two?" Ono asked us.

I was skeptical at first, but Fuki immediately agreed.

"Fuki... let Anima kill me. I'm sorry Anima, but your reputation is in a dangerous place right now, and if you destroy the Rogue Patriarch known as Zeus, it will drastically improve. You can do that, right, Anima? You'll kill me?" Ono asked me.

It was a really loaded question when he muttered those words to me... but I didn't want to let him down. I wanted to keep him alive, deep down inside, but I was too irritated to care about that. Now that he asked me to kill him, I found myself at a loss for words.

"I will kill you. Thank you, for caring about me, Ono... do you happen to remember Soul and Tama?" I asked him.

"Of course I do... Soul and Tama... will you tell them that I miss them and that they're doing just fine to me?" He asked me again.

I nodded, holding out my left hand as Fuki dragged Ono to face the ocean.

"Go ahead... Anima. While Zeus's spirit is still weak inside of me. Kill me." He told me.

"Before I do, tell me. Why did Zeus's spirit possess you? How did he do that? What motive did he have?" I asked him.

"Zeus is Yggdrasil's brother, a man with infinite tries so long as he can transfer his soul before his Vessel dies. Now that you're here, and you aren't being possessed... you can end the cycle. Zeus's mana overtook mine after he wiped my memory and stored it in my mind. I had Zeus's memories and motives, which made my mana synchronize with his, making me the perfect vessel." Ono explained to me.

I nodded, getting ready to throw my skill at him.

"Ono, I'm sorry you couldn't find peace. May you live on forever in the Heavens." I told him.

"[Borealis]" I said quietly.

Like a charged shotgun blast, a beam of ice-cold light shot straight into Ono and Zeus's chest, piercing through their heart, freezing most of the ocean behind them, and causing them to burst open like a frame of shattered glass.

Ono's last words to me were a mouthed-out 'Thank you' before he shattered and died. And, just like if this were a ghost movie, a blue spirit with a frowny face, which looked like it was made of mana, started to float up into the sky.

[Anima - 32]

[Health - 750]

[Mana - 10500]

[Stamina - 740]

[Soul Power - 25]

Of course, these were all of my stats at the maximum value. Right now, everything but Soul Power was at 1.

I quickly drank one of my health potions and at least restored my health... but that wasn't the only thing anymore.

My health now only restored itself up to 10 points.

"Fuki... are any of your stats messed up?" I asked him.

"No, what's wrong with yours?" Fuki replied to my question.

"I only have Ten HP... what's up with that?" I said out loud.

"We'll figure it out later... come on, let's head back," Fuki said.

I couldn't help but look out to the ocean I almost completely froze over by copying the Limit Breaker both Zeus and Joro used against me. It felt terrible to join their level... but I don't care. Zeus deserved it.

"Let's head back," I said.
