Chapter 84 - Memory-Related

"Why can't I remember anything before that? What happened to me?" One of the older girls asked me.

"It's simple, he wiped your memory," I said. I slid myself off of a rock I was sitting on and pulled out my staff to look at the globe on the very top. This was the staff I got in Sieve, not Soul's [Titan's Wand] that she gifted to me.

"What?! He wiped my memory?! How do I get it back?!" She asked me again.

"I don't know. It's not my job to know. I just feel pretty bitter about it, and like I shouldn't go easy on Ono." I said, turning away from her.

"Are you sure Papiya wouldn't know anything about Zeus?" I heard another person say.

"Hey, don't leave anybody out. Papiya? Where can I find her?" I asked the group of people who brought up her name.

"Papiya, but she's sick with something." They alluded to her not being willing to talk to me, but I wasn't having any of that. I nodded and told them to take me to her.

"Well, she might not be wanting any visitors..." They tried to push me away again. She had a secret, I could tell.

"Great, so then why would you bring her up? How about you take me to her and we find out if she wants visitors the hard way?" I demanded from the people. They eventually caved in and took me to a nearby house that was still intact. The door was closed and the curtains were shut, leaving no proof that this Papiya person was even in there.

I knocked on the door to hear a voice that belonged to what sounded like a young girl tell me not to come in.

"I have questions I need to ask you. Can I come in?" I asked her nicely.

"No thanks! Not unless you have food!" She told me.

"You'll never know if I have food if you don't open the door!" I said in the same tone she used against me.

She slightly cracked the door, but as soon as I put [Dismanip] by the doorknob, the door wouldn't shut and I was let inside.

"Thanks for the invitation," I told her. I sat down nearby a table by a bed she was obviously using and put one leg up on the other before looking at her annoyed.

"You know something about Zeus. Spill your secrets, all of them." I demanded from her.

"That's no way to ask for something! Usually, you would use manners." She told me.

"I'm well aware of what I should use. However, you've given me no reason to respect you, especially after trying to close the door in my face. Tell me, what do you know about Zeus and this memory spell he has access to?" I asked her.

"Sorry, my memory doesn't work that good when I'm empty." She said, patting her stomach. So, she really wanted food? Fine by me...

"You'll talk after I get you food?" I asked her. I knew as soon as I would leave this room to make her something, she would run.

I got up and pulled a rope out of my inventory, tying my wrist to hers and tightly pulling it together so she couldn't escape unless I allowed it. She struggled and tried to refuse the whole time, so that didn't help my suspicion of her.

"You're a real pain in the ass!" She said, punching me in the arm as I pulled her to where Hex and Dex were standing. I needed to find out where I could make this child some food.

"Where can I make a kid's meal?" I asked Hex as I approached her. Hex looked at me and Papiya got mad at me.

"Kids meal?! I'm twenty!" She yelled at me again.

"Twenty? Come on, don't be silly." I laughed at her. Hex brought me to pots of food filled with soup and I poured her some, letting her eat it with the hand that I didn't tie myself to.

After about three bites of her soup that I basically had to force-feed her, I asked her if she was ready to start talking.

"Hell no! You're a dick! I don't like you!" She said to me.

"That makes two of us. Look, I just want your information, then I'll leave until you're in the ground rotting. Tell me, what do you know about Zeus?" I asked her one last time, and with a loud sigh, she began.

"You don't want to know about Zeus. He's just a useless person. It's Ono, that's who you want to be worried about. I grew up with Ono and even attended the same class as him when we both learned the Air Element. He was a timid person when I knew him, and now, after his memory wiping attack, it seems nobody remembers him." Papiya told me.

"Huh? Wait a minute... you remember him?" I asked her in surprise. I had already digested the correlating information I learned from the citizens and Papiya, that being that Zeus was timid.

"Of course I do. Memories can't be wiped when you have direct connections to the user." She explained while eating.

What kind of lucky plot point is this that I met somebody with a connection to Ono... that worked out perfectly for me.

"How do you know how that works? Who explained the memories to you?" I asked Papiya. That's when I could slowly see things connect.

"Persephone. That's my step-sister. She explained everything and gave Ono and me memory-relating abilities." Papiya explained.

"Oh? So, what is your ability?" I asked her.

"It's wrong to ask somebody as powerful as me what their ability is. You know, I'm training to be a Patriarch right now." Papiya explained to me.

"I couldn't care less. I want to know what you're capable of and how I can convince you to join our fight against Zeus." I told her.

"Oh! You're going to kill Zeus and Ono? Good luck! He was a resilient man, pretty smart too... and on top of that, he didn't tickle when he hit you with attacks." She explained, giving me more information than I expected.

"I think we're done here then. Thank you, Papiya." I told her, cutting the rope off of my wrist and turning around. She grabbed the back of my collar and pulled me to the table with unexpected strength, looking at me as the back of my head bounced off the table.

"I don't think we're done here, actually. I think if you hurt Ono, I'll have to punish you accordingly. I shouldn't hurt kids, but I don't care about you." She told me.
