Chereads / Hero of Anima / Chapter 31 - Dead End

Chapter 31 - Dead End

"Glad you could make it!" The King shouted from afar.

The King, Fuki, and several other soldiers were all grouped in the field facing toward Sieve, and I carefully watched them to see their next moves.

Ipa was already here, but Ken was completely missing from the crowd on Dorrendale's side right now.

"I can see you've allied with the Demons! Something only a Demon could've done." The King said. So, he really was completely shifted into thinking I was a Demon this entire time.

"Think what you want. I've made friends here with people who are no different than you." I told the King. He chuckled with his soldiers, but Fuki stayed quiet and static.

"You just wait until they betray you, Anima. They do it to everybody, you should know that by now! They don't care about people like Fuki and me, they care about those they can manipulate, like you." He told me.

"That's rich, coming from a King who told me illusion magic was real and then got rid of me the second I found out the truth. Tell me, aren't you the King who houses Joro?" I yelled back. Ruby grabbed onto my sleeve and cowered behind me.

"Over there... magic is gathering..." She whispered in my ear. Then, Joro must be over there getting ready to kill us.

"What is it to you? Joro does good work, he gets rid of all of the Demons clustered together in cities ready for war, that's just to stop the conflict." The King blurted out.

"Stop conflict?! Zyphilia wasn't preparing for war! It was a peaceful city you destroyed for no damn good reason!" I yelled back to him.

"Sure, just as you are innocent. Look, Anima, you have one final chance to join the correct side in our journey to destroy all Demons. We got the city close to our house, we got Zyphilia, we won't stop at anything. Is this really where you want your hero duties to end? Do you still plan to leave Fuki to pull all of that weight for Sieve?" The King asked me.

"King... for the last time... for my friends you killed... for everybody... these people are not Demons! They're my friends! They're Humans, just like we are! If you can't see that... then you will be the Demons from here on out. Fuki... you're included in that." I told everybody.

"You dare call us Demons? Hmph... go ahead! Joro!" I turned my head toward the direction where Ruby warned me and peered deep into the distance to see magic beginning to cast behind a bush.

If I was right, anything that came out of Joro, such as that ice ability, has a large range. I have no elemental magic, and frankly, no plan. Watching that magic start to build up as I realized all of the small things had brought me to a shiver as I tried to think of a new plan.

Could I use [Cannon]? No, my mana wasn't that high... I needed a lot more of everything before I even attempted that...

What else... what else can I do?

"Anima... on my go, shoot [Bullet] at me." Ipa put his hand on my shoulder. I nodded watching Ipa run toward the King with his dagger in hand.

The magic shot off like a sparking match from the bush and a large-scale fire attack was starting to come toward us.

"NOW!" I heard Ipa shout.

I summoned the skill with my staff and shouted out "[Bullet]!". Once I shouted, Ipa took the skill head on with his dagger. I saw some more blue dust emanate from his dagger and something reflected off of it.

"[DEFLECTION]!" Ipa shouted again.

Something shot toward Joro and it was at the moment that the world froze around me where I realized that I knew nothing.

Magic, skills, attacks, limit breakers, proficiency, everything imaginable. I didn't know anything.

I knew how to make potions, dodge attacks... and nothing else.

"This is really where you want to bring yourself?" I was asked.

"Who... are you...?" I turned to the man dressed in the strange suit.

"Yggdrasil, the man who brought you here. I froze time because everything you've done up until this point would get everybody killed. That's no fun for me, is it?" He asked me.

"Well... no, but why didn't you just let us all die? Why didn't you interfere before?" I asked him.

"Because your life was never in danger. But, right now, it is. Tell me Anima, do you want a restart? It doesn't have to be like this, you know? How about we strike a deal?" He asked me while putting his hands on his hips.

"It seems that you know how these worlds go. You've had exposure to these worlds that reincarnate somebody as the Hero and follow him on his journeys... you've spoilt the fun I've planned out for the two of us, but you have yourself an interesting set of skills. With your potions, your hybrid-blooded DNA, your slime arm, so many things I've never seen out of a protagonist such as yourself... so, let us compromise a little bit. I see Joro is in your way, and you know nothing. I will move Joro out of your way forcibly to the other side of the planet, and I will tell you whatever I can so long as you let me reverse time and put you at the beginning of the day today." Yggdrasil told me.

"Huh... usually, a god doesn't interfere until later on in the series, I've just begun, so seeing you here is weird. Well, if you can get rid of Joro, then I'll agree. And I will ask my questions with pleasure." Yggdrasil smiled as he leaned against a metal beam sticking out of the ground.

"My skills. They're weak, and I can't compete with Joro. Where can I learn all of the things he can?" I first asked him.

"I'm amazed you're not so bloodlust to kill him right now... but that's for the best. Anyways, there are seven main elements, as I'm sure you know. Air, earth, fire, water, light, darkness, and ether. The first four- ah, who am I kidding. Zeus's Canyon, Hera's Factory, Hades' Tower, and Persephone's Cliffside are where you want to go. I won't tell you where... that would just be terrible writing." Yggdrasil mumbled.

"I mean, where was this even going anyways? To a dead end?" He finally added.
