I straighten my back. My muscles ached.
"How's your hands?"
"I'll survive."
"Good, follow me."
Elizabeth said as she walked forward. As I passed through the gate, I kept my eye on guardians. Elizabeth may make joke by making them attack me. But no such thing happened.
"Wow."
I gasped as I saw all the things in the treasury. It was bigger on inside.
"Space expansion?"
"Yes."
Countless gold bars, gems and magical artifacts. I felt dizzy just looking at them. I didn't need to be into jewelery for understanding the value of them. My family could live without working for generations with just the items here. I used Hawkeye to trace all of the treasury.
"No, this is just a shell. Made to hide inner parts."
Elizabeth snapped her fingers.
"Correct. 100 points."
Elizabeth snapped her fingers again and ground beneath me shifted. I had hard time to keep my balance. When shift ended, we were in front of a display. The place we were in had no doors or windows. I tracked the magic formation to find where I was or a way out. I found nothing. It was so complicated.
"You need several hundreds of magic formation study to understand it."
I clicked my tongue in disappointment.
"Don't be disappointed. Ability to see magic formations is rare even among vampires. You are already special."
"So, is this the bow you talked about? I can't see through the glass with Hawkeye."
I could see the bow in front of me. However, seeing it full structure with Hawkeye was impossible.
"Of course. If you were just could see through it, I would feel insulted."
"Are you the one that created the barrier?"
"Yes."
She sliced her palm and put his hand to glass. For a second I felt like space itself was bending.
"Spacial interference. So that's why I couldn't see it."
I couldn't fully explain it but what I understood was the fact that that bow was between the very spaces itself.
"Another 100 points."
Elizabeth said as she pulled the bow.
"Ugh!"
Mana hitting my face was immense. This thing is…
"A Legend?"
"Only the best."
A Legend. When Catastrophe happened humanity didn't had a lot of weapons to defend themselves. But then legends became true. Weapons and items mentioned in legends started to appear. Edward's Excalibur was most famous of them. All hunters would go crazy for having one Legend even if it was not a popular myth. They were that strong. And just from the mana coming of from this bow I could speculate this was a weapon from a famous myth.
"Do you have any guesses?"
Elizabeth asked me.
"I don't know. The most famous bow I know is Heracles's Bow but it has an owner."
Strongest hunter in the Greece. Theodoros Versis. S ranked hunter. Rated 2nd best Sharpshooter in the world. Of course I knew him. Elizabeth smiled.
"What is a monster butcherer to a world destroyer?"
"What?"
A weapon capable of destroying the world? No.
"Brah? Brahmes? Brahemes?"
"Brahmastra."
"Yes, that."
A weapon from Indian myth.
"Isn't they are like magical nukes?"
"Humanities subconscious made it into a bow."
She shrugged.
"But it has vampiric mana. Almost like it is…"
"Corrupted? Yes, that's correct."
I tilted my head in confusion.
"What do you know about Rogue Gifted era?"
"When Catastrophe happened and Gifted emerged, there was a lot of Gifted that created rebellions and stuff like that around the world. They were suppressed and goverments around the world created harsher laws to contain and control Gifted."
The reason why goverment was so controlling of gifted could be seen as being cautious so that another Rogue Gifted era doesn't happen. They took countless people's childhood because they were afraid.
"Correct but not the full story. It was bloodier than what you were taught. Imagine top 10 hunters in the world took control of their countries and started ruling like dictators. They started wars and opressed the people. Even several vampires who see humans as blood packs were disgusted by their cruelty."
"They must be really awful if even them thought it was bad."
"Yep, it was. So people reached to us. For killing them and controlling Gifted."
"Wha…"
"Did you really thought we had this much of political power out of thin air? Most goverments are ruled, okay maybe a better word is "shaped" by vampires."
What I learned made me sick in my stomach.
"Best way to rule people is making them think they are not being ruled. Easy."
"What about elections? What about human rights?"
"Don't look at me with that look. We don't directly control them in all areas. Mostly related to matters in dungeons and monsters. You can see us as a silent protectors."
My head spun. This… That was awful. We were controlled? I felt like a fly trying to escape a spider's web.
"Anyway, let me finish my story. I personally killed two of those rebels. One from Germany and other from India."
"Wait, don't tell me…"
She snapped her finger again.
"The one from Germany was a swordswoman. She was almost strong as 70 percent of Edward. I put her ego in the golem you fought before."
Her tone was cheerful, like a child telling their parents the drawing they made.
"The one from India was even stronger. If Edward and him fought Edward would lose 8 out of 10."
I made a terrified face but she kept the same tone.
"His ego was too strong for me to successfully control. At least all times. So I cursed him before ripping his heart. His weapon absorbed some of the curse though. Well, you are a vampire so it shouldn't affect you."
"Does Edward knows this?"
"Hmmm? Of course."
Even him was into this?
"Don't be like that. You don't need to worry about those things. You are a vampire. Ruling class. As long as you obey me, you will be on the top of the world."
A glorified doll. Elizabeth looked at me like I was a glorified doll.
