Chapter 49 - History Repeats

"You dare to talk like this to a member of Leviathan family? You will pay for…"

I moved towards him. I pulled my sword from its sheath and swung it. I nearly cut him down before a huge snake popped out of shadows to attack me. Dodging it by bending my body, I pierced its head. Leviathan family. Fuck my luck. It had to be a family who had a member council. I had to finish this quickly and cover my tracks.

"Melana Leviathan. She is a bitch."

Elizabeth once told me.

"Their family is famous for breeding, raising and controlling monsters. Since they are so used to controlling stuff, they treat everyone else as tools. I hate them!"

That explained the monsters.

"What's you objective? Why are you here?"

He dodged my attacks. He moved like a snake. I don't know why but seeing him made my blood boil. It was similar to when I saw werewolves. Did Elizabeth's feelings affected me?

"Argh!"

My sword pierced his thigh. He fell face first to ground.

"Wait, wait! Don't kill me! There must be misunderstanding!"

Another snake popped out. I caught it mid-air and cut into two. I kicked the vampire in stomach and head.

"Answer me! Why are you here?"

He was weak. Like really weak. Maybe all the vampires I met was super strong?

"I am just a servant of Leviathan family! Please don't kill me!"

That explained it. He was just a cannon fodder. Elizabeth was an Ancestor, while Lazarus was heir to Abdon family. Since I only met high ranking, this bastard looked so weak.

"Answer my question."

He whimpered.

"I am here to take care of Acidic Hidden Snake!"

The monster I killed. So that was what it called.

"Take care. What does that mean?"

"Lady Rosalyn bred it! She ordered me to make sure it was fed regularly! And to report its growth!"

"Fed with what?"

"Monsters and… and humans… Gifted humans."

I slammed my feet to his face. He made muffled noises of pain.

"And you are the one that sent those monsters?"

"I… I!"

He was just trying to waste my time.

"You are going to lose your hand if you don't answer in 5 seconds. 5, 4, 3…

"Yes! Yes, I did! My Lord! I am sorry! I didn't know! If I knew that a vampire of your rank were here, I would have asked for your permission!"

He was assuming I was high rank? Makes it easier to get answers.

"Those monsters were weak. Isn't raising monsters your specialty?"

He raised his hands in a defensive manner.

"I am just a humble servant, My Lord! I am just a weak, humble servant."

Humble, my ass. He was boasting and trying to sneak attack me just a second ago.

"Do you have any way to contact with that Lady Rosalyn of yours?"

"He already did."

I barely registered her when she spoke up. Shit, she was fast.

"I see that you killed my precious pet."

"I am sorry My Lady! I am sorry!"

Servant prostrated herself towards her.

"I will deal with you later. Now."

She looked at me intensely. She had pitch black hair coming to her hips. She wasn't as pale as other vampires I seen. Her eyes were green which I found weird. Maybe related to her family? She wore a business attire. Another oddity. Elizabeth told me that some vampires controlled big companies. But even her business attire wasn't strict. It was leaned towards casual side.

"White hair and red eyes. You are not from any family I know."

"Your pet and servant attacked me."

"So?"

Her tone mocked me.

"A lot of people died."

"So?"

I understood why Elizabeth hated them.

"Only thing I see here is the fact that you killed my pet? Do you know how hard is it to hatch a Acid Hidden Snake? How will you pay, vampire from unknown family?"

"I said your pet and servant killed people."

She laughed.

"Are you asking me about the lives of those little creatures? Humans? They were meant to be food for my creature."

She wasn't talking to me. What we were doing wasn't forming a conversation. She just had things to say. What I said or asked wasn't important to her. She just saw me as a piece of trash. My grip tightened around hilt of my sword.

"I may, I repeat may let you go if you were able to pay twice of what raising it costed me until now. If you can't, I will drag you to our dungeon. Do you understand? Or do I have to repeat it twice for your dumb brain to grasp what I am telling you?"

My sword moved in a straight line. With just flick of my wrist servant's head rolled to ground.

"Those people had families. Friends. Now they are gone, all of those people will be filled with emptiness. Thousand little regrets. Thousand little wishes. Thousands of things those people haven't said. Will you able to pay them?"

I cleared the blood from my sword with a swing. Rosalyn's beatiful face was crumbled with anger.

"You are talking about humans? Those livestock? Even thousand of those bugs won't make one Acid Hidden Snake, you lunatic!"

Her voice was filled with disgust.

"I will find which family you are from and destroy it!"

Countless monsters just appeared from thin air. Some of them were familiar while others I didn't fought before. All of them looked like they were in their best conditions. Orcs had bulging muscles. Dire wolves fur looked thick. Lizardman had thick scales. Beneath all that superficial stuff, their inner body was also different. Denser muscle and bones. Bigger hearts and lungs. Mana coming from their body wasn't a joke. I also could see several Mutated ones. Monsters who gained unnatural abilities or body types.

"Don't kill him. Smash his arms and legs."

My grip was so tight that blood came out of my fingertips. All of my body was tense.

"This won't do."

I remembered the man in my dream. He was relaxed. He had full trust in his abilities even though he just had a stick in his hand. I took a deep breath and loosened my grip.
