Chapter 7 - Anger

I took a step back. I also looked at him carefully. His face and tone told me that I shouldn't had said the last part. Son of a bitch took the power part personally.

"Okay, let's go there then."

You either bend or break. Being lower rank I had to bend. Despite being a magician he should be able to move fast. I could just show him the blood and bodies.

"You would decide what will we do after seeing it."

I pulled his arm.

"Doğukan, Leyla be careful. Don't let anyone stray from group."

"Wait."

Volkan said as he pulled his arm from me.

"Don't order me."

He thought about this stuff right now?

"Even now you are creating excuses to sabotage me."

"What are you talking about?"

Despite him shouting, I still talked in a hushed voice to not panic rookies.

"Burak Sarı, know your place. I am the leader of this team."

We were wasting time. Something dangerous lurked here and we fucking wasted time.

"Look, I am a sharpshooter. Seeing the danger and warning the team is my job. And I am telling you that there is a danger!"

He took a big step back. He raised his staff. I also saw Leyla and Doğukan touching their weapons.

"You don't have the right to order me around!"

He let go all restraint and screamed. All rookies were looking at us now, if they didn't yet from beginning.

"He isn't ordering around. Burak is just doing his job!"

Leyla defended me.

"Of course you will defend him!"

"Guys, calm down!"

Doğukan tried to calm both of them. While both of them were about to say something their voices were supressed by a howl.

"Awoooo!"

I saw 3 of their face go white. Even Volkan, who was a C rank hunter went white. All of us knew that whatever that howl belonged to was a real monsterç I slowly looked at my hand. It was shaking. Even in my first dungeon my hand never shook. I heard sound of someone falling and looked back. Some of rookies fell to their asses.

"What was that?"

A shaky voice asked.

"Monster! Take your weapons! Get into formation!"

I had to snap out of it. Despite my shouting rookies seemed out of it. I raised my voice even higher.

"GET OFF YOUR ASSES, GREENHORNS! YOU HEARD ONE MONSTER HOWL! ARE YOU GOING TO PUSSY OUT JUST BY THAT?"

Due talking quitly normally my voice cracked mid-sentence. Despite that rookies took formation.

"Can you pinpoint where it came from?"

Leyla asked to me. She was first one to snap out.

"No."

I said in a bitter voice. Normally sharpshooter would be in middle of formation. But I was outside. All 4 of us were like that. We looked around, trying to figure out when the attack will came. Despite a nerve wracking wait, nothing came.

"We need to move."

Volkan said. I nodded my head in agreement. He finally understood what I was trying to say. While still in formation we moved slowly. We were far away from entrance of the dungeon. Moving this slowly, we would arrive very late.

"It is better than getting caught while not being in formation."

I said to myself. With inexperienced rookies, I would never establish a formation mid-combat. That would cause all of us to be ran over by whatever was out there. Even if I could establish it, some if most rookies would be wounded or death. Carrying and tending to a wounded person in a dungeon was… Something I could bear for many times. Crying, begging, screaming. Just remembering one raid went wrong was enough to send shivers down my spine.

"Seeing something, Burak?"

It was weird how crises made people get closer.

"No."

I didn't saw nothing but trees. Not even deers or rodents. It was like entire forest went silent. It was so silent that I could hear every branch breaking under our feet. It created even more tension. I never heard a forest this silent before.

"If a forest is silent this means something dangerous is around."

It was something I heard before. Living in rural area and being in dungeons with forests I always thought it was dumb. Even when monsters attacked us in forest, birds still sing. Rodents still moved. Bugs still made noises. But not this time. This time none of the those creatures made noises. I felt something getting stuck in my throat.

"Don't let it get to you."

I whispered to myself. I was the sharpshooter. The Hawkeye. I was the one to see danger and first one to shoot my arrow. Not detecting enemy was unacceptable for my role. Still being in formation, our group slowly moved. But at that moment…

"Wolves! 10 o'clock!"

I shouted as I pulled my bow back. Letting my arrow fly, I got one.

"Don't spread out too much! Consider your surroundings!"

I screamed orders while I shot more arrows. In 10 minutes our battle was over.

"Anyone wounded?"

I searched the team. No wounded.

"Good fucking job, rookies!"

I said in relief. Even under that much stress they fought well. Especially Ayla. She was extremely good. She would definitly picked up by a guild later.

"We are not collecting mana stones."

I said. While we killed around 20 wolves none of them were strong enough to let out that kind of howl. While it seemed cowardly, we still had to go back. Go back fast.

"Form formation again! We are moving!"

"Shouldn't we try to learn about that creature?"

One of the better fighters asked.

"That thing wasn't recorded. We- Our captain doesn't want to risk you."

I said as I glanced Volkan. I still gave him some respect.

"Come on we can fight! You saw it!"

His euphoria of first large scale battle made him forget his fear.

"Get in the fucking formation or I'll break your nose."

I rapidly said. He looked confused.

"Hey! Ouh!"

He couldn't continue due my fist hitting his face.

"Get! In! Fucking! Formation!"

"Awoooo!"

My voice clashed with howling. I looked where voice was coming with terror. It was close. It was… In front of us.
