Lith just finished his first couple of classes and he's learned even more of the world, and why there's even Knights in the first place. He's learned that we're not just trying to get strong but we're fighting the underlings of gods. These underling are ranked in order from weakest to strongest. Priest, Bishop, Archon, Cardinal, then finally at the top are Popes.
These people have blind faith in gods, and the gods reward them by turning them into human monsters who just seek power. But thats enough of our enemy let's go to the best class magic class.
"Please sit down and we'll start with our lesson" the teacher waited for everyone to sat down the continued, "my name is instructor Lamar and I'll be teaching you the basics of magic. So let's get into it, to start, you have to weave strands of essence together to from basic spells." He went on for a while, we didn't actually perform any magic, seems knowledge is more important then actually performing it.
A few days later, back in magic class, we finally start practicing magic. According to the teacher you have to hold a crystal of the element of your choosing. We were all given fire crystals thought. Then you have to focus on the power within the fire crystal while at the same time focusing that power into a certain point in your mind.
Once you move the power to the point, you have to concentrate even harder as you have to wield that power to tear a rip in reality. Once that rip is in your mind, you have to stabilize it. Once all of that is done you have opened your first element. It took me 3 hours to open my realm in comparison only 1 person opened it faster then me while everyone else was slower. Guess I'm decently talented.
Now finally we can focus on actual magic, everyone in the class has opened their fire realm, but their all minuscule in comparison to actual knights, the way to expand the realm isn't hard, you just have to practice magic, or to get more complicated draw on the essence within your realm.
Instead of performing spells as that's way to complicated for us at this point, we just draw essence and circulate it, we try to do more and more every time. Magics not the only thing I've been practicing though, we've also been learning ways to strengthen our swordsmanship through magic. We have learned to absorb nature essence from our surroundings to strengthen our muscles.
After a whole month of these classes I wanna see where I stand with my rank maybe I've advanced to a Knight already I seem pretty talented. I go to the room that I remember holds these evaluations.
I walk to the one of the evaluators, "Hello, I would like to be evaluated" I ask excited, "Name" he asked, "Lith" I say, "ok it seems you were pinnacle trainee a month ago so let's see where you stand" he walks me over to a room.
"Ok I'll be testing your sword skills, come at me" I charge at him, I go for his neck but it's a feint and actually go for his stomach, but he sees through it and blocks easily. I keep viciously attacking him but he blocks every single one, I try every move a i know.
"Stop" he says, I fall to the ground I'm exhausted, "seems you've improved a bit, show me circulating your essence I'll determine your strength from there." I circulate my essence to the best of my abilities, "seems your pretty talented you've improved a bit" he says, "so am I a Knight" Lith says with obvious enthusiasm, but he just laughs, "your rank is lower Novice and that's pretty fast for a month, it takes years or even decades to reach a knights strength, don't overestimate yourself"
Lith was surprised, if took years for him to reach on the rank of Knight just how strong is a Lord or Grandmaster and so on, "I see your surprised, some of us put very powerful, but we don't have that many powerful people in this city, the strongest person in this city is an intermediate Lord." Lith was shocked the most powerful person in this city of hundreds of thousands is just a Lord. Once again he couldn't imagine how strong these upper ranks where.
But then suddenly he felt rumbling, the castle was shaking, "what's going on" he asked the evaluator, " I have no idea. Let's leave the castle it might collapse at any minute."
They left the Castle and all they could see was destruction, and then 3 floating figures in the air, "Shit!, Shit!, Shit!, we need to run right now follow me!" He started running at an unimaginable pace, and seeing I couldn't keep up he slowed down just a bit, "what's going on I asked, "those are the underlings of the Gods and I'm guessing it's just our unlucky day, there's a Cardinal, and two Archons. Those are equal to a Upper Sage, and two Grandmasters. They have to just happen to pass through as there's no way they would attack a weak city like us." Lith though for a moment, "if there that strong what is there objective." The evaluator answered almost immediately, "since this is a border city they most likely plan to attack the capital of one of the corners of the border, each corner city is more like an empire, their force is most likely equal to those underlings, fuck! Why do we have to encounter a fucking Cardinal there must only be hundreds in there whole army so why here"
Lith was shocked, "hundreds if there's hundreds of this things, we don't stand a chance." The emulator let out a chuckle, " the imperium is strong usually with something like this the main capital would send reinforcements and they wouldn't stand a chance, but we weren't expecting this so it might not turn out to well."
They reached the edge of the city, and ran into the Forrest outside of the city and hid they sat their for hours waiting to make sure the underlings were gone. "Whats your name" asked Lith breaking the silence," "it's Arthur, yours?" Arthur asked, "my names Lith, but what will we do know" Lith asked, Arthur smiled, "I'm going to train"
