Torild sat next to Dedry on his bed. There was a strange silence in the room.
"So, I believe you should have some questions," Torild said trying to break the tension.
"Yeah. I'm pissed at the fact that punch should've knocked him out. I know you're a trainee but it definitely should've knocked him out!"
"Ok. I haven't said a lot about the limitations of what I can grant to those who follow directly under me. So to put it simply, my power revolved around the amount of power there is in an area. Let's take the god of lightning, for example, he's only so powerful because there is always some lightning around the world. It's the same for me but since I am only so powerful, my area is only limited to 1000 square feet," said Torild trying to calm down Dedry.
Dedry looked at Torild and sighed. He understood only a small part of Torild's powers.
"Also, what happened when I say unleash? And, how come I got so little power? There should be some powerful people in there from what I know," Dedry asked seriously. If he knew the answers to some of these questions he could finally understand how to hone these abilities and use them to the fullest.
"To answer your first question, unleash is the keyword for unlocking your power limiter and it attracts surrounding energy. The person you fought was weaker than usual, but it wasn't noticeable as there were more people. More people means more power, and less power sapped from them. For your second question, people in your area were weak," Angel said answering all questions.
Dedry sat on the bed now. He was pondering what to do to help him.
Suddenly, a thought came to him. He stood out of bed and walked out the house.
"Hey, where are you going?" asked Torild.
"To a gym," responded Dedry without turning around.
"Why? Oh, I see what you're getting at." Torild stands up and starts walking next to Dedry.
They start walking to downtown where all the muscle-heads go.
"By the way, wouldn't people be able to see you?" asked Dedry.
"Nope, only the enlightened can see me. As well for their respective trainee gods," Torild responded.
"Wait. There are also other trainee gods?" asked Dedry.
"Of course. You think that there would only be one trainee god at a time. Foolish mortal," muttered Torild under his breath.
"But, isn't it like that each one of you hold so much power that only one of you can be on earth at a time? Like in Seven Deadly Sins with the Demon King. And that's why you gods never come down to earth?"
"No. We live in heaven because it's less polluted and has more freedom towards its people. This world of oppression has existed for thousands of years but we didn't destroy it because it would cost power that we don't have. That's why I'm here to pass the trails of gods. To obliterate the Earth," said Torild in a confident voice.
"I'm to shocked to comprehend any of this and I don't want to ask anything. I just know that I'll most likely see the world end in my lifetime," Dedry sighed in sadness. Though there was nothing really he was attached to, there were definitely some nice people on this planet that didn't deserve to die.
"Also, let me just make sure you understand, just because you have powerful people in the vicinity doesn't mean that you'll keep their power."
"I know. I have another idea. You should be able to see what I mean by the time I exit the gym," said Dedry looking at Torild with a slight smirk on his face like he never heard the world ending news.
After about half an hour of walking, both of them reached the gym. It looked well-maintained with signs all over promoting their health products and the benefits of joining their club.
"I know you surely don't have money. Why come here?" asked Torild. Even though he didn't know Dedry for long, even just hanging out with him for an entire day is enough for people to understand his situation.
Dedry pointed over to a poster hidden behind several other posters. It looked like paper yet still was moving continuously.
On the poster it said, "FREE SERVICE FOR ONLY 1 WEEK, 4 DAYS, 9 HOURS, 2 MINUTES!"
Torild looked over and nodded in understanding. They both walked in and the interior looked alright.
There was silver blocks that surrounded the walls. The floor was lined with blue tiles that shined from the bright light in the middle of the room. You could see a hallway leading to a bathroom and another on the opposite side leading to a elevator. In front, you can see the sleek and wooden reception counter for signing up or renewing memberships. A seemingly 17-year old boy was sitting there, with his eyes glued to his phone.
The receptionist looked up from his phone and said, "Hello, welcome to Alpine's Gym. What can I do for you today?" His voice sounded monotonous and his eyes dropped from presumably lack of sleep.
"I came here to use the gym. It's free, am I correct?" said Dedry. He walked up to the counter but left some space between him and the receptionist.
"Yes, you are. Just go to the elevator on the left of you and go to floor two. That would be the free section. Only go to floor three if you have your membership card. We close down at 10 PM and start back up at 8 AM. Have a good workout, " said the receptionist. He went back on his phone.
Dedry and Torild went up to the second floor in the elevator. The second floor was your basic average gym. Nothing really unusual except for the tablets on every machine for adjustable settings.
"Unleash," said Dedry.
He could feel the surrounding power being absorbed by his body. The strength then hit a bottleneck and stopped rising. His power right now was much higher than before at school.
This is because of the surrounding gyms that are on this street. Though he may have a limited amount of reach, the strength of some of these men are not to be joked about.
"I know you said I would know what you are doing after you're done in the gym but I can't help but want to know. So, tell me. What are you going to do?" asked Torild.
"I'll exploit the ability to unlocking my power limiter and use it to achieve such great power. It's basically a cheat. You could get infinitely strong with this. I'll become as strong as the gods themselves! HAHAHA!" yelled Dedry being his now occurring edgelord self.
"*Sigh* I was worried for this. You already know that Divine Punishment is a thing so why are you thinking that you could even reach half the power of a real god. They wouldn't want to let their creations get the best of them," worryingly said Torild.
Dedry stopped the maniacal laughter and just frowned. His dreams and hopes of becoming the strongest in the multiverse shattered in an instant. He stumbled over to a chest press machine and weakly tried to do anything.
'This will be harder than I thought it would be,' thought Dedry.
'Maybe I picked the wrong person for this,' sighed Torild in his mind.
