Another one left the building when I glanced over at the window. Doctors from every place were called to examine Euphrasia but they cannot find her illness. Aunt Mavis is even more disappointed when the only saintess of the empire couldn't help her child.
Mom's mana can temporarily help her, but the symptoms are still there. She's afraid that the more she inject her mana to her the more she's going to be sick.
Yessenia and Azi are in their best behavior for a week now, appalled by the news of their sister's unknown illness, "Boaife is there a spirit who can help?"
"I am not so sure. But there are spirits who specialize in one type of magic using their attributes."
if so, I should summon a spirit that has healing abilities.
"if you are going to summon they will feed on your mana before you establish contract. The more contracted spirits you have, the more mana needed in your body."
I understand the laws of summoning since I studied it while Im in Aurea Duchy. I can't keep having contracts and summon simultaneous as it may strain my body. However, at the current state I'm in I can have establish one contract.
"I think... the land or water attributes may have someone who specializes in healing," Boaife added while nodding in agreement to herself, "do you know somebody in the spirit realm?"
Boaife shakes her head, "I'm busy roaming the human realm ever since my first contractor died,"
"I thought you will go back to the spirit..."
"Yes, but my master wished that I stay here and look after her child as her last command."
Boaife is close to her contractor to obey it. After all, commanding a spirit before your death is entirely up to the spirit and I'm surprised that even after years she didn't go back to the spirit realm.
Back to the present, my mother's unique magic is not as effective as it should be. That is surely weird. I thought her unique magic is about healing, but was I wrong?
"..."
I sighed and proceeded with summoning as I recited the chant in the middle of my room. Then, underneath me, a huge rune appeared, glowing as I felt a breeze from below.
"just think about land and water" Boaife suggested, sitting on the railings as she watches me in this summoning.
as she said, I think of land and water with wishful thinking then suddenly I heard tiny giggles, warm hands sliding on my arms, I shivered with it, thinking that I might have summoned a perverted kind of a spirit.
"My, how delicious..." I froze as I slowly looked back. There was a lady behind me and her face was flushed. I suddenly turned to Boaife who had the same baffled look as mine.
"a pervert!" Boaife and I said in our minds. I really did summon a pervert.
The lady is wearing a dress that is similar to a nightgown. It is purely white and long—except the fact that we can see her cleavage and half of her breast. The gown is also sleeveless, though on her left arm there is a detached puffy sleeve. On her wrists there are some white cuffs with some long fabric attached to it with some small flowers.
like Boaife, she was barefooted when I summoned her. On top of her head there was a flower wreath which was connected to a seen-through veil. Covering her long, light purple hair which was decorated with white and purple orchids and pink ribbons.
This must be a land spirit, although her gaze is creeping me out!
"Gee, you already had a contracted spirit huh," she said and circled around me while smirking.
"Oh well, I can still be contracted,"
"first, can you cure someone who can't be cured by anything?" she wore a confident smile and answered,
"You're in luck that I am the one who answered your summons. I can cure and identify... hmm?"
Suddenly, the land spirit creased her brows. When she walks around, sniffing even with a threatening look on her face as she flipped the tables and other things in my room.
Boaife stepped in and held her wrists, "Hey, cut it out..."
"WHAT DID YOU USE IT FOR?!" Boaife snapped and gritted her teeth in anger. The spirit I called shouted and trashed the room while we're confused of what she's talking about.
"That thing is not supposed to be here!!!"
---------------------------------------------------
The spirit continued sniffing around when she realized that the smell was close.
'This isn't good. I can smell the foul stench of that thing'
her actions are interrupted by a firm hand holding her arms, Boaife's eyes lit up in anger as she angrily say, "fuck off. You keep making mess everywhere and we do not understand what you are pointing at"
Boaife is in rage at the spirit. After all the reason she was summoned is for her to examine Euphrasia and heal her. Yet seeing her like this irks her off.
"If you have nothing to do here, go back to the spirit realm." she said as she glared at the other spirit.
Her eyes suddenly turned cold, "form a contract with me," Wren said.
The spirit looks at her, utterly bewildered. From Wren's point of view; the spirit is looking for something in the mansion and it must be important , but the two of them have limited time and the only way the both of them get what they want is to form contract.
"You want to form a contract with me, right?" The spirit looks at her and nods in agreement.
Boaife boils in anger as she said, "You can't. First, she looks pervert. Second, she's weird and has anger issues and lastly, I do not like her!" It sounded like she's whining at Wren.
However, Wren nodded at her first reason but her two reasons made her crease her brows.
Boaife also has anger issues.
"Just do whatever you need and get..."
"No. The thing I smell is very dangerous and by the smell of it, you guys are using it for a long time. It will take a long time to entirely remove it. It would be best if you let me." she said firmly which made Boaife taken aback.
"..."
"follow me," the hall is quiet and there are less servants running around.
Then, a loud shout startled them, "Who the hell spread these rumors?" the duke asked, they haven't realized that they are in front of his office.
"we are tracking it down, Your Grace," a knight said as he laid papers of people who had their eyes on Mavis.
Right now there is a rumor circulating that the Twin sister of the Duke has a daughter that will start an epidemic in the north.
"Hurry up and kill every single one of them."
Wren who heard it had a grim expression as she walked away, heading to Lady Mavis' room.
"disease...?" The land spirit has thought of it and wished that it was not the cause of it. Because if it is, they have bigger problem.
The atmosphere inside the room did not change. Wren is being choked by the thickness of gloominess and darkness of the room. Mavis is solemnly looking at her daughter, she did not even feel Wren enter the room.
The spirit soon had her eyes widened and brows raised. The stench is being mixed with the smell of incense.
Wren turned to her and said, "check my cou..."
she saw the spirit besides Euphrasia and gently touched the little kid.
"... this... how...?" her hands trembled as she scanned the room. It was clean and the source of the smell is coming out from this kid.
"What is it?" with that question, Mavis slowly looks at Wren and Boaife with her tired eyes, "why are you here...?"
"I can heal her, but..." she hesitated, her hands Euphrasia's chest, "but considering how long she was exposed to it, it will take time for her to wake up"
Wren's eyes lit up and clasp Mavi's pale hands and said, "Aunt Mavis! Euphy is going to be all right now!"
at first the woman only looked at Wren with uncertain eyes which gradually changed, became clearer, some tears urging to trickle down.
"I'm going to start to cure her. But..." Wren nodded, understanding why she's hesitating. It would be a lie if she answer that she still feel okay.
However, she could endure the pain because it will cure Euphrasia. Light suddenly shone on Euphrasia as black smoke was being sucked out from her.
"..." they all wait in anticipation when Wren suddenly clutches at her clothes.
none of them notice it except Boaife. She hissed when she realized the side effects of the summoning. Firstly, she thought of sharing some mana with her which she can't do.
As her specialty is Barrier, she cannot do the spell. "Even that brat can't do it..." she whispered, referring to Cervi.
Though, this was her decision at first and even let it take this long. Her life decisions are being analyzed for more than a mere 15 seconds and is now sitting on the chair.
"After this I will disappear...." seeing how hard for Wren to keep the summon is why she also decided to leave this here
"Before that, find a plant called 'hanubi'..." her voice is being lapped by another voice who entered the room with heavy painting and they were surprised at what he said, "Sister! What are you doing here?!"
everyone is stunned and did not utter a single word when the spirit suddenly chuckled in a hoarse voice.
"You punk..." she mumbled as she lowered her head, making the veil obscure her face. The glow soon fades as Mavis walks closer to her sleeping daughter. Though she wants to ask something to Wren, she holds it in seeing how sweats form in her face as she pants heavily.
"... I keep looking out for you and yet...!!!" she looks at Cervi with anger in her eyes, rushing forward to him which made Cervi open his eyes wide.
However, before she even touch Cervi she disappeared. Leaving the scent of flowers in the room. Wren finally sigh in relief. They haven't establish a contract since she wants Euphrasia to be healed first.
Cervi sighed and whistled, "That was close..."
"... and yet you came here to let her know you are here?" Boaife asked as she looked at the sweating spirit.
"I thought it was just my imagination to smell her scent," they continue to discuss this. Meanwhile, Wren slumped in the chair and closed her eyes to rest. Feeling relieved with the fact that Euphrasia is going to be alright, leaving her thoughts with the last thing the spirit said, find the Hanubi.
She felt satisfied as a thin smile was plastered in her face after sleeping on the couch. The summon she made has eaten half of her mana. Mavis lets her sleep inside the room. After all, Wren helped her daughter but the spirits who keep bickering inside the room irks her.
Her energy is slowly coming back after knowing that her child is healed and well.
"Continue your bickering outside the room. There are children sleeping here." she said and did not wait for their answer as she pushed them outside the room.
The two were too stunned to speak and let the lady dragged them outside, leaving Wren there.
