Chapter 20 - Opening Old Wounds

After the situation that Gah-Hal was in a while ago, he walks out of the Glazes. He then goes to the small forest 600 feet ahead of him. He is looking for place where nobody will sense and see him do what he's going to do in a moment.

After few minutes of walking, Gah-Hal reaches the forest and goes deep into it to make sure nobody will see him. Once he makes sure he stands still and disappears immediately.

Meanwhile Hogel and Hanna.

"Which bed are you choosing? I will choose the one after you." Hanna says.

"The one between the wardrobes is nice, but..." Hogel replies.

"But I don't know which one Gahes would take." Hogel says.

"I mean, there is still time, so we don't really need to be in hurry with sleeping. Eh, whatever. I will take this one. We will switch if he comes back." Hogel says and sits on the bed between the wardrobes.

"I choose the bed in corner then." Hanna says as she jumps flat on the bed.

After a while of Hanna humming to herself from the comfy bed, she turns her head to Hogel.

"Normally, I wouldn't feel comfortable sleeping in one room with two of you being a boys." Hanna says.

"But?" Hogel asks.

"No buts. I just trust you both enough that it's not a trap and you won't try anything while I will be asleep." Hanna says jokingly.

"I won't try anything. I don't know about Gahes, but I won't. Trust." Hogel says now lying on the bed.

"Gahes is really interesting as you said. He took us with him, took good care of us, showed us a lot and also rented a room with us. He said that his parents weren't big people and he was raised as normal kid who was also taught about survival." Hanna says thinking.

"If he said he wasn't taught anything else, but common sense and a lot of survival things then what's with all that things he did?" Hanna says.

"Probably born talent. It happens. Maybe so far he showed us only his stronger side and hides his weaker side." Hogel says.

"Well. Whatever it is, I don't really care. I'm glad I could meet him and get along with him. I don't regret meeting him back then. I don't want to look too deep into him. I wouldn't feel good if I did it after what he did for me and what he showed me. You also should stop overthinking about it and trust him." Hogel says looking at Hanna.

Hanna looks at Hogel for few seconds before she decided to say something.

"Sorry. I know we talked about it before. It's just that my mind can't stop thinking about it especially when my spirits are also very confused and almost always scared when they are too close to him, which isn't common. My my, I will just try to ignore it." Hanna says while lying comfortably on the bed.

Hogel stands up from his bed and takes the pouch that Gah-Hal left.

"Anyways. I will gladly take a walk around the town. Wanna come too?" Hogel suggests.

Hanna stands from the bed.

"Sure." Hanna says following Hogel.

Hogel and Hanna walk to the door and exit the room closing the door behind them. Then they head outside to explore the town and possibly doing some shopping.

Meanwhile somewhere in unknown location.

There is an old house with a garden near it. The flowers in the garden look both beautiful and rotten, because of lack of enough care on it. Except of flowers there are also cabbages, carrots, beans, pumpkins and watermelons growing on it. These also don't look acceptable. Only few look at least acceptable.

The house is average sized, but look very old. It looks like it could collapse anytime from the rotten wood. Around the land except of garden there is nothing except of few trees, some hills and path nearby.

Inside the house there can be seen two people. Middle-aged male and female. Their hair brown hair are partly gray from either old age or... substances that are lying on their table. That substance is certain type of mushroom thay causes hallucinations, pleasurable feeling and feeling of arousal.

It's addictive and feels good, but this lasts temporarily and side effects of it are permament which are getting stonger each time it's being consumed. Side effects are wrinkled face, rotten teeth, weaker bones and muscles, it becomes hard to control emotions and much more negative effects for body.

These people are seen eating these substances every few minutes until eventually the container for these is empty.

Once the man realized the container is empty, he sighed and lied his head on the table. Woman meanwhile was still under the effect of the mushroom.

After a moment, man stood up and went the counter with a door and opened it. He looked inside and around and after few seconds he closed the door. He approached the woman and shaked her to try and wake her up.

"Where is the rest?" Man said.

Woman who is still under the effect, is asleep.

"Wake up woman! Where is the rest?" Man yells.

Woman is still asleep.

Man starts shaking her aggressively so much the chair that she's sitting on is also moving.

"Wake up damn it!" Man keeps yelling and shaking.

Woman finally woke up and looked at the man.

"What do you want?" Woman asks.

"Where is the rest?" Man asks.

"In the counter." Woman replies.

"It's not there!" Man replies.

Woman stands up from her chair and looks where the man looked before. She also doesn't see anything.

"Wha-? I thought we still had it." Woman says.

"So we don't have it. Go and get more, woman!" Man yells to her.

"You buy it! Why it's always me?" Woman replies.

"Because I say so! Go buy it!" Man yells.

"No! You buy it this time!" Woman yells back.

Man slaps her in the cheek with his open hand.

"Don't talk back like that! Now go and get more!" Man yells to her while holding her arm and pulling her to him trying to make her stand up.

Woman releases herself from his hand's grip and steps back.

"Don't you dare treat me like that, ugly geezer!" Woman yells.

"So scary. What you gonna do, hag?" Man yells.

"I will kill you!" Woman yells.

Man laughs and grabs her arm again pulling her to him.

Woman tries to pull herself away, but fails. She takes the container that the mushroom was on before and breaks it on man's head.

Man holds his forehead to cover the injury that the woman did to him still holding her arm with another hand.

"Bitch." Man says and hits her in the nose with his fist.

Woman groans and falls on knees for a second, but quickly stands up.

While these two are fighting someone enters their house through the door in the neighbouring room. The person who entered the room then stood in the entrance to the kitchen that these people were fighting in.

Woman who was facing the entrance realized that someone entered the house after around ten seconds of him standing there.

"Who is that?" Woman says.

As she asks man turns around and once he sees the intruder he stops holding her arm.

The intruder is nobody else, but Gah-Hal who stands there with strict face which very slowly turns into grin every second man and woman look at him in shock.

Man quickly pulls himself together and stands up facing the intruder.

"Who are you? What are you doing in my house? Leave." Man says.

Gah-Hal looks at him and then at woman.

Man loses his patience and grabs Gah-Hal by shoulder and tries to push him away.

"I warned you, boy." Man says and tries to push Gah-Hal away.

Shockingly for man, Gah-Hal doesn't move a bit no matter how hard he pushes.

"Take your dirty hands away from me, please." Gah-Hal asks politely not showing a sign of being scared.

"Don't tell me what to do, brat." Man says and attempts to push Gah-Hal this time placing hand on his sternum.

Man once again fails to move boy even a bit.

Gah-Hal grabs man's wrist and throws him near the woman.

"Sit, damn addict." Gah-Hal says with strict face now.

Man attempts to quickly stand up, but before he does it Gah-Hal takes a loud step forward and looks at the man.

"I SAID SIT AND DONT MOVE OR I WILL RIP YOU APART!" Gah-Hal yells at the man with furious face.

Woman and man are now showing fear on their faces not daring to move. Gah-Hal seeing it goes back to his grin.

"Thank you. I will be speaking now." Gah-Hal says with smile leaning his hand on the table near them.

"First. When someone knocks to the door, you should open it if you are home. You didn't open it and I heard you both fighting over this crap you are feeding yourselves with. Second. You don't go on a guest with violence unless he looks like he could threaten you. I doubt I showed any sign on threat. Well whatever. Not like you will even follow this." Gah-Hal says with firm, but also calming tone.

"There is a reason why I came here. For both of you. Mister and Miss Jugel." Gah-Hal says still with firm tone, but also a little menacing way.

"My friend confessed to me something horryfing. I feel bad for asking that and just feel bad for her childhood. Yea. I mean that poor girl who was sold few years ago just so her parents could stuff themselves with this damn mushroom." Gah-Hal says as he took a step back in middle of the sentence.

Man and woman look at him with confusion and terror.

"Im sure you remember a white haired girl named Hanna. I know you remember. If you still don't then I will be even more specific. Hanna Jugel, your daughter. Sold for mere 5 silver coins. Talk about being pathetic." Gah-Hal says taking another step closer to them.

Man and woman show realization in their faces with more terror in their eyes.

"Exactly. You don't care, but I will say it anyways. She is healthy and fine. She lives like a noble right now along with my other friend and me in Glazes. You probably expected her to be either dead or still treated as slave. You were wrong. Even without me she would do better than you do right now. Look at this place..." Gah-Hal says looking around and opening counters.

"You dont even have fresh food here. Look at this bread. It's so green from mold it looks like a forest for microorganisms. You life only from food and this drug. Disgusting." Gah-Hal says mockingly.

Woman tries to say something, but Gah-Hal stops her by showing the shush gesture on his mouth.

"So. That's everything I want to comment. Now to the main point." Gah-Hal says now standing right infront of them.

Gah-Hal looks at them sitting on the floor and then knocks them out at the same time before they could react.

Once they are unconscious, Gah-Hal grabs man and woman by ankles, takes few steps away and disappears again along with these two unconscious people.

Meanwhile Hogel and Hanna.

They are both walking in the marketplace. Hogel is carrying pouches on him as he follows Hanna who is more interested in shopping than he is.

"Hey Hogel. How about... some cooler clothes?" Hanna suggests.

"I dunno. I like my current outfit. Comfy, warm and agile." Hogel responds.

"We will find something as comfy and even better looking. Give it a chance." Hanna asks.

"If we find something then I will think. No promises of course." Hogel replies.

"Sure. Let's go. There is a tailor over there." Hanna points at tailor and goes there with Hogel behind her.

Two teammates arrive in tailor. They are welcomed by various clothes made out of wool, cotton up to even silk clothes. Hanna is in awe by looking at all this. Hogel doesn't show it, but deep inside he also wishes to wear something like this.

Hanna walks around the tailor to look at various clothes. As she walks and looks she takes her time to think of something to her liking. Hogel leaves Hanna's side for a moment to also look for something. Few looks and there is finally something that caught his eye.

"Can I help you, ma'am?" Tailor keeper asks Hanna.

"I'm looking for some nice blue silk set for my size. Something like this, but smaller and blue." Hanna says pointing at one of the clothes.

"Sorry, but I don't have it at the moment. However if you wish I can make it just for you." Tailor suggests.

"Yes, please." Hanna replies.

"Great. I need to measure you first to make it fit perfectly on you." Tailor says.

"Surely." Hanna replies with happy smile.

"Wait in changing room please. I will be back in a moment." Tailor says and goes to his desk.

Hanna goes to changing room and waits there for few minutes. She sits on the chair there excited. Tailor then comes back with measure, color palette and few fabrics.

"I will have to touch you a little, so please don't overthink unless you want to measure yourself by yourself." Tailor says jokingly.

Hanna giggles.

"It's fine." Hanna says with a little smile.

"Raise your arms a little, please." Tailor says holding a measure in his hands.

Hanna does as he says.

Around 1 minute later, the measuring is finished. Tailor writes down the numbers on the paper he brought too and puts it aside along with measure. Then he takes a color palette in his hand and shows her twenty shades of blue possible to choose.

"Sapphire blue please." Hanna says.

Tailor writes it down and puts the palette aside. Now he takes out the fabrics and shows it to Hanna.

"You can touch it and say which one would you like." Tailor says.

"Silk, please." Hanna says.

Tailor writes it down and puts the fabrics aside. Tailor then folds the paper with information about her clothing and puts it into his chest pocket.

"Thank you very much. Your order will be ready next week." Tailor says doing a gentle bow.

"Next week... Is it possible to make it ready a bit quicker?" Hanna asks.

"Of course, but it costs additionally. 8 silver coins for it to be ready the same day. 33 silver coins in total for all this, ma'am." Tailor politely informs.

"I want that then." Hanna says happy from the price.

"Let's go to the counter then. To confirm transaction." Tailor moves the curtain from the changing room and leads Hanna to the counter.

As Hanna follows Tailor, she sees Hogel who touches the clothes he seems to like himself. Once Hanna is near counter, Hogel sees her and goes behind her.

"Found something?" Hogel asks.

"Yess! And you?" Hanna asks.

"I guess so." Hogel says.

Tailor stands behind the counter and looks at Hanna waiting for payment.

"Give me pouch." Hanna asks.

Hogel takes out the pouch that has a lot of golden coins in it and hands it to Hanna. Hanna opens the pouch and places one golden coin on the counter.

"It's also for what my friend here wants for himself too." Hanna says.

"Of course." Tailor says and walks a bit to the side.

"What would you like, Sir?" Tailor asks.

"Uhm. Uh. That one brown outfit please. The exact size is good enough." Hogel says pointing at the outfit he wants.

"Of course." Tailor says as he leaves the counter and heads to take the clothing from the hanger.

Tailor goes back behind the counter, folds Hogel's clothes into cube and looks at them.

"So. That will be 40 silver coins." Tailor says.

As he said it he took the golden coin from the counter, Hanna decided to get something else for herself.

"Oh also, I would like that hat over there. The sapphire one. I will come back for it once my outfit will be ready." Hanna says pointing at the hat on the shelf above seller.

Tailor reaches the hat and places it on counter too.

"It will look great along with your ordered clothes. That will be 43 silver coins." Tailor says placing the golden coin into the casket inside the counter and prepares to give the change.

"Will you fit all this in your pouch?" Hogel asks.

"I don't know. We will put part of it into your pouch if it doesn't fit in Gahes's." Hanna replies.

Tailor finishes counting silver coins and places them on the counter.

"Here you go." Tailor says.

Hanna and Hogel takes the coins and place them into Gah-Hal's pouch first. Once it's filled, rest of the coins are placed into Hogel's pouch.

"Alright. We are good." Hogel says.

"So about my order. When should I come back to take it?" Hanna asks.

"In one or two hours maybe. If there isn't anything else you would like I will right away bring the order to person who helps me sewing these." Tailor says with smile.

"Okay then, that's all from us. I will check back in two hours. Thank you very much." Hanna says slowly walking into the exit.

Hogel heads to the changing room to wear his newly bought outfit. It takes him few minutes to wear everything. Once the curtain to changing room moves, Hogel leaves the room with his new clothes. He looks totally outstanding. It really fits him well.

Proud of his look goes to the exit to show himself to Hanna. He approaches the door, makes a big smile and opens it.

Hanna turns around to see the opening doors and sees Hogel.

"Ta-Da!" Hogel says spreading his arms open.

Hanna looks at him in awe. She did not expect him to look that good in civilized clothing instead of hunting one.

"Woah. You look much, much better with this outfit on you." Hanna says placing a finger on her lips.

"I also think so. Until we decide to go do something that might make us a bit dirty, I will stay in this." Hogel says.

"Where are your old clothes, by the way?" Hanna asks.

"Oh right. I forgot to take them. Hold on." Hogel says remembering he left his previous clothes in changing room.

Few moments later Hogel is back with his hunting clothes in the sack.

"Back. So you are gonna wait for two hours for your own outfit?" Hogel asks while going with Hanna back into the marketplace.

"Yes. Can't wait to see myself in it. I'm forever grateful for Gahes that let us feel like that. Buying just this would take me few years with my current capabilities, but then he and you met me in village and everything changed so quickly." Hanna says happily.

"Mhm. Such a luck to meet him and get on his good side." Hogel says.

"Anyways. I want to go to our room for a second. I want to leave my clothes in wardrobe. I don't want to carry it so long. I suppose we will walk around here for quite a time." Hogel says.

"Okay. I will wait here and look around. Maybe I will find something. Take this pouch too and empty it a little, please." Hanna asks giving him Gah-Hal's pouch.

Hogel nods with smile and takes the pouch from her. Then he is on his way back to tavern to leave in their room some unnecessary weight.

2 Hours Later, Early Evening

"Let's see. Sabre, bow, clothes, jewelery, etc. In total we spent 2 golden coins and 30 silver coins. I think we a bit ahead of ourselves. I hope Gahes won't be too mad." Hanna says.

"I mean. He left his money for us. He said that he left it for us if we want to buy something so... I think it will be fine. There are still around 40 golden coins in here after all." Hogel says.

"I hope so... I don't even know how to feel that we are spending his money." Hanna says.

"We didn't steal it. He suggested it himself. Nothing wrong here if you ask me." Hogel says.

Hanna nods.

"Oh right. I want to see if my outfit is finished. Wanna come with me?" Hanna asks.

"Sure. I want to see you in it." Hogel says.

"Let's go then! So exciting." Hanna says.

Teammates stood up from bench and started heading back to the tailor going through the marketplace. After a while they both arrived back to tailor. Hanna enters first, Hogel right behind her.

Tailor who sits by his counter sees Hanna and stands up. He waves to her to get closer. Hanna and Hogel approach him.

"Good to see you, Ma'am. Your clothes are now ready." Tailor says as he takes something out from the counter.

Tailor places her ordered clothes on the counter folded into square.

"Here is your order. I still think it would look really amazing with your hat." Tailor says placing the hat on the folded clothes.

Hanna takes it with excitement on her face.

"Thank you." Hanna says and goes right to the changing room while holding her things.

Hogel goes with her and waits outside.

Hanna takes her time in there. Hogel waiting for her outside hears her quietly talking to herself. It sound like she is praising her look.

Finally curtain moves and Hanna finally shows herself in her new outfit. She looks so incredible that even Hogel is looking at her in awe. She bends forward a little with her hands behind her back.

"How do I look?" Hanna asks with an excited smile.

"I will be honest. I think I fell in love. All this just looks so good on you." Hogel says a little embarassed still in awe.

"Thank you." Hanna says and spins around two times.

She rubs her clothes for few seconds and looks at Hogel.

"Now we look civilized. We looks like someone who would fit in this society. Amazing feeling." Hanna says.

"That's true. I mean, we didn't look that bad in our previous clothes." Hogel says.

"But you will agree that right now we are even better looking." Hanna says.

"Yes." Hogel replies.

"Hehe. Yes. So let's go back to our room now?" Hanna suggests.

"Sure." Hogel replies.

Hanna goes back to the changing room for a while to pack her previous clothes into the empty sack from Hogel. After that she heads with Hogel towards exit.

Tailor looks at Hanna from the counter and smiles.

"I hope you are happy." Tailor says.

"Very! It's amazing!" Hanna says with smile.

"I'm very glad to hear that. I'm happy that I could help. Please visit us again." Tailor says as he bows forward a little.

"We will! Goodbye!" Hanna says happily before she and Hogel leave the shop.

After they both leave, Hanna looks up at Hogel and smiles. Hogel does the same looking down at her. Then they both head to their inn. Hanna walks around with visible pride. She looks very relaxed and happy. Hogel walking next to her just happy.

After few minutes of walking they see their inn and get inside. Guard hands them necklaces and lets them pass as he knows they are renting a room here. Hanna and Hogel wear the necklace and go deeper into the inn heading towards their room.

Once they are next to their room they check their pockets.

"I forgot to take a key. I will be back in a second." Hogel says.

Before Hogel walks away, Hanna pushes the door a little and sees that the door is open.

"Wait. Hogel. It's open." Hanna says a little loud.

"Oh. Gahes is back?" Hogel says as he goes back.

Hanna pushes the door a bit opening it.

"Gah-Hal? Are you here?" Hanna asks.

Once she asks it she sees that Gah-Hal is indeed there. He leaves the bedroom with bag and approaches Hanna.

"Oh. You are back. What do you-" Hanna is interrupted.

"You look great. Hogel too. Sorry, let's talk about it later. Put your stuff inside and come with me." Gah-Hal says with smile.

"Erm. Alright." Hanna says.

Hanna and Hogel get inside to put their things in their places. Then they go to Gah-Hal and leave the room. Gah-Hal takes the keys and locks the room. After that they head outside leaving keys to barman and necklaces to guard.

Hogel and Hanna follow Gah-Hal who takes them outside of Glazes. Once they pass the gates, Gah-Hal leads them to the forest he went to earlier.

"So. Where are we going? What do you want to show us?" Hanna asks.

"Some time ago you told me what you would do if you saw your parents. Do you remember that?" Gah-Hal asks.

"Y-Yes. Does it have to do anything with where we are going?" Hanna asks.

Hogel looks at Gah-Hal with a little unease, not sure what he's planning.

"Yes." Gah-Hal says.

Hanna looks at Gah-Hal for a second and then starts feeling uneasy.

"I can feel you both being uneasy. Calm down. It's nothing what you think it is." Gah-Hal calms them down.

At this moment they entered the forest.

"Then what is it, that you want to show us so badly?" Hanna asks.

"I will be more specific then. It's something especially for Hanna. I asked you, Hogel to come too just in case. Let's say I gave you a chance to calm your conscience down." Gah-Hal says to Hanna.

She looks at Gah-Hal and calms down a little, wondering what could that be.

Finally, they arrive in the destination where Gah-Hal led them.

"We are here." Gah-Hal says and goes behind the big rock.

Hanna and Hogel stay in place not seeing what's behind the rock. Gah-Hal stands there and gestures for something behind the rock to stand up.

"Stand up now. It's time." Gah-Hal says.

After it was said, two people can be seen standing up from behind a rock and slowly going to Hanna and Hogel. They stop and stand 8ft away from them.

These two people are the people that Gah-Hal confronted earlier. Mr and Mrs Jugel. As they stand they look at Hanna with sorrowed face.

Gah-Hal stands on top of the rock and sits on it.

"Go ahead." Gah-Hal says.

Hanna looks at them for a moment.

"Hello..?" Hanna says.

"Oh. You don't recognize them? Not really shocking. Years have passed of them destroying themselves. Years have passed of that tramuatizing incident, Hanna." Gah-Hal says.

Hanna suddenly realizes and shows a shock on her face and inhales deeply. Hogel looks at her shocked face and then looks back at these two people with a guess who they could be.

"No... Mom? Dad?" Hanna looks at them still shocked.

"Hanna..." Woman says.

Hanna takes a step forward, this time her shock turns into a little anger.

"I brought them here just for you. I decided that it would be a good way to finish certain things and get answers to unanswered doubts." Gah-Hal says sitting calmly on the rock.

"Are you crazy? Why did you do this? Why are you making them open up old wounds?" Hogel says to Gah-Hal.

"I'm only helping with their affairs. She doesn't look like this, but I know Hanna is actually thankful for this opportunity." Gah-Hal says confidently and sure of what he said.

Hogel looks at Gah-Hal intimidated by what he did.

"Thank you, Gah-Hal. You are right. I always wanted this. I want to close that chapter of my life." Hanna says with sad eyes and a little grin.

Hogel hearing that Gah-Hal was right stopped with the disgusted look and instead took few steps back once again trusting his intimidating teammate.

"Mom. Dad. What have you done to yourselves... I couldn't even recognize you from how you look. Damn it." Hanna says showing a bit more of anger.

"Damn it. Damn you. Damn you both. You destroyed yourselves. Having a daughter was a mistake for you. I'm sure that's what you were thinking the moment you took money from the man who took me..." Hanna says still a bit angry.

"Now we are here again. I am here. You are here. Both standing on different grounds. While I am standing on gentle grass, you are standing half-way in swamp slowly going deeper..." Hanna starts raising her voice.

"I feel disgusted just by looking at who you became. While you were wasting your money on poison, I was getting money by myself doing fair things unlike you. I refuse to call you my parents. I hate you. I! HATE! YOU! BOTH!" Hanna yells at them.

Both of them show even more sorrow. They dont have anything to say.

Hanna seeing they have nothing for their defence, not even a single word, she takes few deep and furious breaths before she walks out of the place the same way they entered.

Hogel worried of her looks at Gah-Hal and then follows her.

Gah-Hal jumps off the rock and stands behind "couple". He then puts his hands on their shoulders with a smile.

"Now that you heard what she thinks of you, I don't have to keep you here anymore. You can now sleep peacefully." Gah-Hal says with smile, but once he finishes the sentence, his face goes back to strict face.

Gah-Hal takes his hands off their shoulder's and goes to the bag with silk and picks it up.

"Honestly. Im as disgusted as she said it. Every second standing next to you is making me nauseous." Gah-Hal says as he goes in front of them 6ft away.

He throws the bag to them and they catch still with sorrow in their faces.

"Take it. Take it and get lost. I don't care what you do with it, but I hope that decision will be wise intead of doing the same thing as few years ago. Get lost now." Gah-Hal says.

Few seconds after he said it, man and woman disappear. Gah-Hal walks back to where he came from to meet back with Hogel and Hanna. As he goes there, his eyes changed color from blue to red for few seconds before it came back to normal.
