"Your mother—mom reached out to you? When?"
Lilly Rose heart thudded loudly in her chest and she had a hard time breathing. A part of her wanted to keep her mouth shut. She didn't want Matthew to know about something so shameful about her family.
But with her parents still missing, she knew that it's stupid to not say anything to her husband. He's the only person she could trust right now.
And Matthew has the resources to find her parents.
She exhaled a shaky breath and gathered the courage to speak up.
"I'm sorry," she whispered, tears brimming.
"I–...I thought it wasn't serious," she said, gulping some air and wiping her eyes, feeling embarrassed.
She could see that Matthew had a lot to say. The end of his brows twitched.
