The room went to a standstill. The room was so quiet that if a pin dropped it would echo in its four walls. Andrei and Susan glanced at each other in confusion. Tiffany was wiping the corner of her eyes, staring at Andrei waiting for his answer.
Susan turned her head to Andrei and waited for his answer as well. When she saw the slight hesitation in the corner of his eyes, an invisible hand squeezed her heart and she found herself having a hard time breathing. The corner of her eyes watered as she swallowed the lump that lodged at the back of her throat and kicked Andrei's leg under the table.
Andrei jerked up his leg when he felt the pain from Susan's heel. He gave Tiffany a gentle smile and took her hands into his.
"Listen, Tiff, our relationship lasted for so many years. We basically grew up together and in those years, I had loved you, however, things changed."
