Matthew creased his brows when he saw his wife striding—with a bouquet of flowers in her hands, to Pete's quarters. Pete had informed him that Lilly was meeting her friends in her book club and would not be home until past nine.
He looked at his watch, the time was only a quarter to seven but Lilly was already home. But what really caught his attention was the flowers she was carrying in her hands like it was some kind of useless piece of trash that she was waving around as she walked the pathway to Pete's quarter.
He saw the car that brought her home but the driver didn't get down so he had no idea who drove her home. Pete told her that a boy named Noel would probably bring her home. The car was different from last time, he must be using a different car. The idea of another man driving his wife around pissed him off.
