Noel said goodbye with some longing in his eyes and Pete knew at that moment that he had to do something to keep him away from Lilly Rose.
Lilly, who was dense with men's affection—unless someone pointed it out to her, said goodbye like usual. And Pete had to keep his expression blank to avoid laughing when Noel's longing turned into disappointment.
"I had a good time," she said and laughed when Pete arched his brow. "I mean, this is the first time that I hang out with a group of people that my mother didn't run a background check on and not my circle of friends."
"You mean, Tiffany and whoever she thought rich and important enough to be part of your circle." He made a quotation in the air mockingly.
"Tiffany can be bitchy but she's a good friend," she said without conviction because what Pete said was true. Tiffany can be all of those but what she said was also true—Tiff is a good friend of hers.
