Chapter 31 - Stand Still Look Pretty

"What do you mean?" Her voice rose an octave higher as she pulled her shoulder and her back stiffened like a board, ready to fight Matthew's idea.

"Just as I said. I do not want you to live in a dormitory. Your father and I have already discussed this issue. Also, we are moving to a new house to be closer to your school and since you have your own driver, traveling won't be a problem.

Lilly clenched her hands and bit her cheeks. As much as possible, she wanted to avoid disagreement with Matthew because she wanted them to have a good rapport. It would be too stressful to live under one roof if they were fighting most of the time, however, his idea of her not staying in a dorm was something that was difficult to accept.

She was already looking forward to her freedom. It was her intention to live her own life, or at least her college life, but it has now become clear that that won't happen. Her father and husband had already decided what they wanted for her without even asking her.

She gave Matthew a bitter smile.

"Can I even say no?" Her voice was trembling with rage. She shook her head and stood up from the garden chair. "Why don't you just let your secretary tell me what are the things that I should and must do?" She said with sheer sarcasm. She didn't wait for Matthew to answer, she walked away because she didn't want to cry in front of him.

Matthew cursed himself while watching Lilly march towards the house, with her hands clenched on either of her sides, hair blowing with her long strides.

He didn't want her to be mad at him but with how he presented the options, anyone would be pissed off. He knew that but there was no other way to tell her those things. He won't allow her to be in the university dorm. She had no idea how many men would crowd and hover around her.

She is his wife and there is no way in hell that she will share her with anyone. Not ever!

He blew a frustrated sigh and his eyes landed on her half-eaten grilled sandwich. Without thought, he picked up the sandwich and munched on it in silence. He had to do something with the contract that his father-in-law asked him to sign. But he didn't know how to get away with it.

He wiped his hands on the napkin after eating Lilly's leftover sandwich. He had to talk to his secretary to make sure that the new house would be ready for their move.

He scoffed mockingly to himself when he remembered what Lilly said about letting his secretary tell her what she should do. He wished to have a friendly relationship with Lilly but it was impossible.

Lilly went straight to the bedroom that she was using and stripped down. She was too angry that she didn't care that she left the door wide open. Pulling a fresh shirt and tattered shorts from her cabinet, she put them on and tied her hair in a high ponytail.

She kicked the clothes that she dropped on the floor under her bed and grabbed her phone that she put on the side table.

She bent down and got a pair of Adidas shoes and put them on before leaving her bedroom. Her strides were angry and with clear intent. Matthew told her that he had already discussed things with her father, and she wanted to hear her father's thoughts about the matter.

Not because he didn't trust Matthew but she was too angry that she wasn't thinking straight. Her friends were treating her like she was some kind of a privileged princess and she was being an ungrateful bitch by complaining that her father married her off to Matthew.

They were acting as though being married to Matthew was the biggest blessing a woman could ever have in her life. She pursed her lips and scoffed.

"You're going somewhere?"

Her hand flew to her chest for she was startled when Matthew suddenly talked. She glared at him while her eyes surveyed him from head to foot. Her verdict was he was hot as hell. He was so good-looking that standing and carrying dirty dishes looked hot on him.

In split seconds, she found herself agreeing with her friends. It felt like a blessing to be married to Matthew Grayson.

"Lilly, are you going somewhere?" He asked with a crease on his forehead.

She smirked at him and rolled her eyes. "I'm going to talk to my father."

"Wait for me. I'll drive you—"

"No." She said curtly. "I had called my driver and he's waiting outside."

Matthew stared at Lilly who had a look of defiance on her face. She was ready to fight tooth and nail with him if he insisted on driving her to her family's house.

"Take care, then," he said, turning on his heels. He hated the fact that she hated him.

Lilly's nose flared up in annoyance. She heaved a deep sigh and followed him with her blazing gaze. Her anger flared up with his nonchalant reaction. It seemed like he didn't care if she talked to her father or not.

"I'm staying out for the night!" She yelled at his back and hurried out of the main door. She knew that she was being childish but she didn't care. She just wanted to get even somehow. Sleeping out was something that she didn't think of when she decided to go to their house to talk to her father. Yet, when she saw Matthew not giving a care in the world that she was angry with him for deciding her life, she snapped.

Who could blame her? Being married to him was something that she had no opinion about but then she agreed to it because her father begged and told her that it was the only way to save their business, however, deciding how she was going to live her life was out of the question.

She won't just stand there and let him run her life!
