"God does not always listen," she muttered under her breath like she was saying a stale prayer.
"You're being too pessimistic. Lilly Rose can take care of herself. She isn't as fragile as we think she is."
Nana Ruby exhaled a soft breath and said. "Yes, she isn't. But the problem is, she is under the claws of the devil who is masking himself as the perfect father."
Pere clenched his teeth. He knew what Nana Ruby was talking about.
"Nana Ruby, don't worry about those things. It will work out—"
"How could you tell me not to worry? You know what was happening in the mansion and behind those closed doors! You are the one who drove around Lilly Rose from one party to the next, to every summer and winter camp, and to Disneyland! Did you forget those unplanned trips to Disneyland so that she won't be home and see her mother's bruises?"
