It was a Halloween week. The preparations were going in full swing. Our college was very famous in festivals and this year Halloween was double special coz it will be organised by us, as we are in second year the authority has given us the responsibility to organise the Halloween party but it will be a little tough without candy.
CANDICE POV
It's been a while since I am going for therapy to Mrs Emily King. She is really good at her job. I recovered a lot and my sleepless nights almost ended. Credit goes to Rach.
Mrs Emily advised me that it will be better if I ask my grandparents about that day and why the memories of my parents is so blurry. If someone told me before I never got courage to stand up and face the truth but this time is different, Mrs Emily convinced me so I decided to leave for my grandparents town on this weekend.
I have told everyone they even want to come with me but truly I don't want anyone I want to face it by myself and be strong so I said no. I am here in front of my grandparents mansion hesitating a bit from going in because of thoughts crossing my mind what happened in the past? WILL I BE THE SAME PERSON STANDING RIGHT NOW AFTER KNOWING THE TRUTH? I am sure something is gonna change or everything but this time I am not gonna run from it I am gonna face it. The broken picture of that day can only be fixed by my grandparents.
RACHEL POV
"We have thrown it beautifully" Jess said smilingly
"Yeah we did. I hope Candy is fine too,"Krystal said worriedly.
A girl came to me and told me that someone is waiting for me in our cafeteria before I asked her further she left I got curious and move towards the cafeteria when my eyes met the person whom was waiting for me there, I get freeze on my place, my heart start beating fast, SHE IS HERE she is standing in front of me making myself asking 1000 questions in my mind.
Before I think more she approached to me and took my hand and tried to hug me before she can do it I stop and said "Please Don't" I couldn't stop myself from crying but I don't want to cry in front of her my eyes clearly describing my pain I knew that this day will come and I need to face it anyway but I don't want it that day to be today I don't want to confront a woman who gave me birth aka my so called MOTHER especially when my life come into right track I just don't want to confront people from my filthy past and listen their apologetic stories,Well when my life went as I wanted my destiny is full of climaxes and I am tired of it.Whole time she was staring at me and smiling I should say that her smile is still beautiful as before.
"You have grown up beautifully," she said.
"Last time I checked, when time passes people grown up automatically I think it's human nature weren't you aware of it" I said while taking a sip of my coffee.
"I am sorry sweetie..."before she complete her sentence I cut her and said "please don't call me sweetie it's stinky and yeah I don't have time for all this so wrap up your melodramatic talks as fast as you can by the way you are good at wrapping things fast am I right mother" I said rudely.
"I know Rachel you are upset with me I should have informed you before coming, sorry for that"she said.
"What sorry huhh you are just sorry for not informing me wow RITA PARK,you should be sorry for a lot of things which I don't mind mentioning in case you want"I said sarcastically.
"I was prepared for this. I know Rachel what you have been through and it's all my fault and I am here to surrender..."I cut her "first you have no idea what I have been through and second I have no time for your apology speech"I said and stood up when she held my hand and said "PLEASE RACHEL for the sake of your father listen to me then it's up to you,made your decision"she said cryingly I still could not see her cry so I sat again and to listen what she has more.
"I was at library picking up your favourite books when I got the news of accident I went towards the hospital as fast as I good only to learn a horrible news of my life which change my world in few seconds. The doctor told me about your dad and that holds that you are not aware of this accident but the worst part was they can only save one of you so your father sacrificed himself for you I was in shocked, the only thing was running in my mind was that I lost the person whom I loved the most, I tried really hard to see you but I couldn't, Everytime I tried to see you I remember him and first thing come in my mind that you are a alive because of his sacrifice. I was trapped in the cage of my feelings and I knew it after that I wouldn't be able to see you like before and will end up hurting you so I decided to send you away from me as far as I can but I was wrong I ended up hurting you"she stopped and took a deep breath and look at me I was crying like a baby every part of my body was crying and shouting that I am the reason of my father's death, he sacrificed himself for saving my life, I looked at her and said while sobbing.
"You are so mean,your words are lies,your whole damn speech is a bullshit, My dad didn't die because of me ok... You just showed up after years just to tell me this, So Generous Of You, just go far away from me and don't ever come back just leave me alone for the Sake of God you have done a lot of damage to me, sending me to an orphanage, I was my dad's princess but now I am an OD in a cafe,doing job was not cup of my tea but you made me do things which I have never done, you made me a psycho patient damn it"
"Rachel I didn't mean to hurt you I am here for redemption sweetie I am sorry" she said why apologizing.
"Take your damn sorry with you and go away and one more thing it's too late for redemption"I said and walked away from her and didn't look back.
CANDICE POV
My grand parents welcomed me warmly. We were sitting in lounge and they were asking me about the collage stuff. I gather myself and asked them the unexpected thing of life.
"Guyz, I wanna asked u something which I never did, and its gonna shocked u both but trust me I have no intention to do it" I stopped taking a deep breath.
"What is it sweetie? Do you want us to meet a boy of your choice"grandpa said.
"no it's not like that" I said
"I wanna know about what happened that day, the day I lost them"I said dropping a bomb on them but they didn't seem shocked instead they were waiting for me to ask them.
"It was a beautiful day your parents decided to spend some quality time with you on their private farmhouse with Stephanie. You were 5 years old a little kid who didn't know about danger..."she stopped and look at me and said "don't stress yourself after listening what I am going to say promise me" I don't know what she will say but I promised.
"You were playing in the kitchen suddenly your father saw smoke entering in the lounge. He wondered from where the smoke was coming and it turned out to be the kitchen. The door had already caught fire, he shouted for help he went in kitchen but it was too late your mum already drop you out of the window they got stuck in the kitchen and fainted. The neighbours called the fire brigade and the ambulance, they found them both highly injured after surgery they went in coma and they nearly left for more than two months and passed away"she completed and my eyes dried because of crying.
JESSICA POV
I was a bit tired of this party thing and going back to my drom alone because I couldn't see Rachel anywhere she left in between the party, god knows where I was about to shut the door when my sister Jennifer came and said that there is an Emergency emergency at this time Is She Serious.
She hold my hand and take me towards the garden, the sight in front of me made me shocked and surprised at the same time my parents are there but last time I checked they only came on New year's and on their anniversary is there a new tradition of my parents to come on Halloween which I don't know or they are planning to come on every festivals well this is new.
"MOM,DAD you are here what a surprise" I said awkwardly.
"How are you Jessica?"mom said, hugging me on which I just replied with a curt nod. We were talking like a Happy family who always support each other and always be there for each other. I don't know why but I think there is an intention of my parents to come here.
"Ok guys, let's come to the point why you are here. The new year is a month after and your anniversary is in July,"I said, making a straight face.
"Because we want to live with you people, we realise that we were wrong leaving you here and going abroad,is not what a happy family does we will living here with you guys now give us a chance to be your parents welcome us we know that we didn't do anything like that and we are very sorry for that"they finished talking.
"Wow! Amazing when we really needed you,you send us in boarding when we wanted you to care for us to love us you weren't there when we were confused about our decision nobody was there to tell us that we are right or wrong you didn't ever care for our living and now finally we are happy in our life getting worthy jobs and setting our life so you want us to live with you so you take care of us now"I said sarcastically.
"That's not fair dad we are happy now we don't want to bother you guys you should go and live as you were living and leave us here"Jennifer said.
"Living abroad was not our decision. I want to fulfill my dad's dream to be a successful businessman. I know in that whole time we did not pay attention to you guys but we love you a lot and we are very sorry for that"dad said.
"Exactly we always wanted you guys to be independent but we didn't think that your dad business will take that much time please forgive us"mother added and they left us in deep thoughts.
KRYSTAL POV
It's almost midnight and it's raining here can be sent to meet her grandparents so I am alone in dorm suddenly someone knock at the door I wonder why was there at this late I got shocked seeing Rachel standing soaked in water she was looking pale and her eyes were red looking like she was crying for so long I pulled her in and give her a bath rope I was so confused she didn't say a word about what happened and directly went in in washroom. She came out exactly after 10 minutes and said,
"I am so sad Krystal I don't know what to do, you once told me if I met her unplannedly and I don't know what to do so I should run to you you will be there for me.....krystal my heart is in lots of pain it's about to burst"
"Shit you met your mother" and then she told me the whole thing happened lately.
"Rachel you are a strong woman or I say the strongest u fought through the ups and downs of life and you never give up and I know you'll fight with this too"I said.
"You are not responsible for any one's death got it your dad safe you because he loves you more than he loves himself he gave his life just you can live yours not because you sit and blame yourself for his death okay"I said she let down and fall asleep peacefully I was worried about her. Her life is full of climaxes and hurtful incidents and this time I don't want to see her broken again.
CANDICE POV
My brains stutter for a movement and my eyes take in more light that I suspected every part of me goes on pause while my thoughts catch up I was standing in balcony shocked enough not to move I just don't know what to do and say the truth haunted me so much and I start hating myself for never asking about my parents.
"I have never asked that I wanted them to be with me at my graduation, on my birthdays or at my wedding at every point in my life. I just wanted my parents to stand side by side like other people. WHY THEY DID IT" I was shouting like I am an idiot and they were listening.
"Let it out you will feel light"they said they listen to all of my shits when I am done grandma gives me a family album and diary of my father when I look into it I felt nothing except crying and regret for not looking into it Sooner.
ALANA POV
It was a tiring day though organising the whole party was not a piece of cake but we did it wonderfully we really miss Candy but I hope she got to know what she wanted to know after the party I was going to my dorm but the princi stopped me and told me the most unexpected thing in the world.
"Your parents are here to meet you"I was shocked would be an understatement from when they started caring for me they've remember that they have a daughter too who was craving for their attention since long but no more I am happy and contented in my life I really don't want there presence In my life which will lead me again in stressful circumstances they aren't my parents it's just a family where business matters more than people. I went to meet them they were staring lovingly at me for the first time I wasn't sure but I saw tears in my mother's eyes.
"Why are you here?"I said, being emotionless at the moment.
"How are you dear?"my father asked
"Do you care? And don't tell me you came so far asking only this"I said being annoyed
"we are sorry alana" my mother said and burst into tears. My heart ache seeing her like that but I stood strong.
"For what you are saying, sorry for making me alone, giving me no love and care or for making me depressed,"I spat on them.
"For not being there for you when you needed as the most for never giving you family time which you needed and behave like a normal family"my dad replied
"Why now when I don't want you and your apologies?"I said rudely.
"Because my life taught me a lesson that there is nothing more important than families a co-worker of my company get to know that his house got burnt in ashes the safety team save his wife and child but his savings of life got burned I told him what he will do now he has no home no money where he will go the reply of him made my eyes wide open he said, I have everything because I have family this house and money will come another day too but I will never get my family again and without family the house is nothing and to be honest house is there where is family"my dad narrate the whole story with changes his opinion on what is important family or money.
"Okay! So what do you want from me"I asked.
"We want you to forgive us for our past mistakes and give us a chance to improve our abruption,"he said.
"Brilliant you think that causing damage from years will be forgiven by your fake realization, you think the humiliation I endured because of you will forget that it's not gonna happen you can leave"I barked they were about to leave and said while going "we are feeling really guilty of what we had done please please forgive us if you can"and they left me questioned.
RACHEL POV
it's been 2 days since I met my mother and she didn't try to contact me again it's good I need time to process things candice is still at her grandparents place and informed us she need more time to clear things it's good for her I totally understand I went to pick up some stuff from information counter suddenly my eyes caught up on a similar face,my mind click that it is none other than ALEX I shouted his name he looked back at me with his always big smile.
"Rach, oh my god" he said
"What in the world are you doing here?"I said surprisingly.
"My search led me here what you are doing here Miss Hopeless"he said sarcastically.
"Come on and this hopeless lady is changed and I am student here"I said
"Let's have some coffee, we have a lot to catch up," he said.
We went to the coffee shop where he told me that he is the Lost brother of Krystal Harvey I was shocked I asked him again that he is the brother of my friend krystal then he told me that he found his family year ago now I am confused why are you here so late to meet your sister?I asked on which he told me the most shocking thing which my heart couldn't tolerate a bit. He wanted help to tell the news to Krystal because he has no guts for that I agreed to help.
KRYSTAL POV
Rachel want us to go for coffee IS SHE SERIOUS we have a lot of work and this girl needs a coffee session I went there she waved at me intead of walking towards her I stopped looking at a person sitting next to her I don't know why I feel his resemblance to someone I walked to them and smiled.
"Hi what's going on?"I said.
"Sit down I want you to meet someone you will love meeting with"she said pointing to a guy sitting next to her.
"You have a boyfriend and you are telling me now" I said looking at her.
"I wish I am"he finally said something instead of smiling as Rachel pinched him.
"So you speak to huh by the way it's Krystal Harvey"I said.
"Alex Harvey" he answered,at this point I was completely stunned. I don't know what to say. It can't be possible it can only happen in movies no in real life he can't be my brother Alex.
"You are shocked aren't you? I am your lost brother Alex am I still don't look the same or I turned more handsome huh dummy"he said with a bright smile he called me that nobody called me in a long time he is the only one who used to say it.
"I should now leave you both alone. There is a lot to catch up good luck guys" Rachel said and left.
JESSICA POV
My mind wasn't working properly after the improper meeting with my parents why it always happens that when you are happy and your faith come with the test paper and its ten times difficult than the last one. I couldn't even share it with Rachel after hearing that her devil mum is back too. These parents are so unpredictable, once they leave us for their freedom and when they become bored they come to us again when I told everything to krystal she advised me to think hundred times before taking any decision. Alana has not opened the door since last night. I must say something has happened to her so I hope this is not related to her parents. This Halloween was the longest and the baddest festival of the year for us. I know my parents love me but their demand of living together under the same roof and acting like a happy family is not possible now after a lot of difference. I hope my decision will not separate everyone forever.
KRYSTAL POV
"It's been a long time, isn't it?" I said.
"Yeah you have grown up into a beautiful woman"he said.
"You also grew up into a handsome man," I said.
"Are we playing a complimenting game if yes trust me you're gonna lose because I am best at this" he said proudly.
"So you have meet mum and dad" I asked.
"Yeh dad is the one you sent me here"he replied.
"When did you meet them and how?" I asked.
"It's been a year since I met them," he said,I was shocked by his answer.
"So why do you bother to come now? Did you guys feel sorry for me huh? Oh no we neglected her whole life now let's give her some attention or she will die, dad used to call me but he never mentioned a word"I said angrily.
"I am sorry krysti because of me you have suffered a lot"he said sadly.
"No please don't say sorry don't you know everybody thinks that I am the one who had best time of my life that is why they treated me like that.... Putting restrictions on me, I also lost my brother but nobody cares about my pain they just thought they are the only one who's suffering"I said furiously.
"Krystal,"he said.
"What explanation you have to this did mum and dad prepare the whole damn speech in a year to say sorry to me if it is true I would love to give it a chance if not please leave me alone I thought you will be different but you are same like them please you go and play happy family don't drag me in this"I I said and stood up.
"Mom is not anymore with us"these words entered my body like current."it's been 6 months she died because of cancer they wanted to tell you but they were in so much guilt they don't want to want to ruin a happy life you are having I argued with them but I wasn't the one who can make decisions I am sorry and mom had left this for you"he said while giving me her diary.
"It's been 6 months."I laughed madly. "People don't do this to their relatives, they did this to their own daughter. I see how much importance I have in their life"I said being sarcastic.
"Who are they to decide that I can tolerate or not? It's not their place to decide" I said cryingly.
"Krysi pull yourself together"he said comforting me.
"I AM FINE OK....JUST LEAVE PLEASE.....IT'S HURTING SO BADLY..... PLEASE GO AWAY"I said crying like a baby.
"Krystal I am not leaving you if you will say thousand times to I want you to get that"he said.
I was crying miserable my whole body was shivering due to shock and pain. I don't know how I faint and end up in my dorm.
ALANA POV
Why always me why my life can't be normal always filled with drama I am tired of all this my parents aka business people who never know what family is suddenly an accident taught them what a wonderful story I am sick of it this meeting with my parents is the worst test of the destiny I hope I can be able to fight with this phase of my fate.
RACHEL POV
After talking to krystal, Alex was disheartened for not sharing anything with her but I assured him that she needs time to process things while talking he revealed that Danny's mom surgery got successful and he will be around in two days I was delighted we were at the gate of my college when our eyes met two similar faces making us completely shocked.
"Marcus, Jennie" Alex said surprisingly
"Long time guyz"Marcus said
"Very long time!where have u been?" alex asked calmly.
"Don't asked its a long story, but now every thing is sorted."Marcus said.
"No everything is not sorted Marcus,Dan and alex have their reasons for going away what reasons you have?And the reason was that big u can't even inform before going"I shouted.
"Rach listen" Jenn tried to speak.
"No I will not what you have said you will be there for me, Where were you when I was all alone, Where were you when I found out that I am suffering from Epilepsy, Where were you when my mother come back and said I was the reason of my fathers death huh" I let out everything on Marcus and Jennie.
"Done feeling better, will you now listen to me?"Marcus insisted and I was surprised that he didn't even get angry. I know his nature is cool and calm but sometimes you must get angry.
"My father took us with him to his hometown because of his business we told him we don't want to go even we blackmail him emotionally but it didn't work after going there his business-level raised and he again neglected us like always but we care less a day when when he went when to mums tombstone we don't know what happened there he came back and asked for forgiveness to us and from that day he started to fulfill his duties of responsible parent"he finished.
"I am so sorry"I said
"No, you just followed my advice of letting out and not to burden yourself"he winked at me and everybody laughed.
"Very funny," I said, making a pout.
"Alex, when did you come?" jennie asked.
"The day before yesterday he found his lost sister who is my best friend," I said, making it short.
"Are you serious?"she said in shock.
"Yeah I hope she will understand,"he said sadly.
"Of course she will when is Dan coming,"she said.
"After 2 days,"I replied.
"Ok that's great then we will be together this new year" Marcus said.
"Not before making some full and final decisions" I said thinking of my meeting with my mother.
