Seris POV
After a few days of aimlessly walking around we were attacked yet again from the trees and bushes
"They're coming from the trees and bushes," Jin-Woo said
"Lower down the barrier I'll deal with them," I said
After the barrier was lowered I used cursed mist to kill the enemies around us in a few hundred meter radius.
"I'd say that's overkill," Jin-Woo said
"But it still worked out in the end" He continued
We navigated ourselves through the thick, and dark forest as we got ambushed a couple of times by some monsters, they kept coming from the bushes, and trees. We encountered a few monsters but nothing too much. As we moved deeper towards the forest we found a village. The village was abandoned but there were still many suplies there, like clothes, water, weapons. But all the food had rotten away, we looked around for signs of inteligent life, but found nothing as we walked to the midle of the village I saw a child running, without hesitating I ran towards him, the child ran towards an alleyway but when I got there it was a dead end, and there was no child. As I looked up, and behind me there was nothing.
"Seris where are you?" I heard Jin-Woo shout
As I was about to shout I dodged something by instinct as a club swung behind me revealing a black creature, but it quickly dissapeared after noticing his surprise attack had failed.
I scanned the area but found nothing.
"I'm here" I shouted
I went out the alleyway to see Jin-Woo had killed a few of those black creatures.
"Where were you? These things are everywhere" He said
"I was chasing one of them" I replied
"All right stay alert they like to hit the back of the head" He said
"I already know, I nearly got hit before" I replied
As we slowly navigated ourselfs through the village, I found that Jin-Woo could sense them because the creatures he killed on our way. I couldn't sense them at all, while he kills them like squashing a bug.The same question rose again through my thoughts who is he?
We continued walking down the village as Jin-Woo did the most work, while I felt like I was being escorted through a dangerous place, and that irritates me so much because of how useless I am right now. We managed to leave the vilage but when we moved a little further there was a cliff which I nearly fell had Jin-Woo not grabbed my arm, and pulled me.
I yelped as Jin-Woo pulled towards him me making our bodies touch, I quickly moved away a little, expressing my gratitude, and proceeded to walk this time more cautious. We killed a few beasts here, and there but we never found the portal.
A few days had passed since we entered this zone, and there weren't that many enemies either. As I walked around ahead of Jin-Woo I got caught by a rope trap which caught my left feet as it dangled me upside down.
"Thank god I wasn't wearing a skirt" I said as I burnt the rope but it didn't burn, when I slashed it with my sword it didn't break. Jin-Woo came to me a few seconds later while he looked around, he finally found me. I could see him trying to hide his laugh. I was embarrassed of this as I felt my face burn.
"A little help would be appreciated" I pouted
"He flew towards me, and cut of the rope that was tied to me, and then he caught me in a princess carry. My face was getting more hot as I could still see him trying to hold his laugh, I covered my face with my hands as I tried to bury my face in his chest but that was a bad idea as I smelt his scent, and I could feel his calm heartbeat. We landed, and I jumped off him my face still warm, as Jin-Woo covered his mouth trying to hide his laugh, and grin.
But I was curious to see him smile, as he usually covers his mouth when I do embarrassing stuff. And his hold of me wa... I pushed those thoughts away quickly before it could grow. We walked towards a cave where we set up temporary camp. Jin-Woo then went to his corner, and started meditating again. This time I steeled myself to try as I got close to him I observed him close, and as I hesitate to touch him.
"Screw it" I thought as I gave him a light tap
"No reaction?" I thought
I kept poking him a few times in random, and he still gave no reaction. Then my finger unconsciously went to his lips. As soon as I realize where I had touched I quickly pulled back my hand, and stepped back hoping he didn't wake up to see that. He didn't move, but I looked at the finger that touched his lips, as I remembered when I....
"What is happening to you Seris you've never been like this ever so what the hell is wrong with you right now" I asked myself as I covered my face with my hands my face warm.
Ever since I met him he was always a man I saw as a great, and mysterious figure, but as I spent more time with him he just becomes more mysterious. Every day my curiosity grows to know more about him. As I turned back at him he was still meditating, so I came close to him again as I inspected his body once more. I moved my ear close to his heart as I was still curious about the black particles that appeared at where his heart was. As I was focusing my ear to listen I heard a whisper.
"What are you doing" He lowered his head to my ear
I jumped back surprised but I quickly answered
"When you did your little experiment the place where your heart was, was covered by black and purple mana particles" I said as I pointed at where his heart was
"Ah that was just a little experiment I tried" He replied
"Your summon he said something about The awakening of the King Of The Dead what does that mean?" I continued pressuring him with questions I had
He stayed quiet, and that quiet stayed for a few minutes.
"Jin-Woo we've been working together for years, you know me well while I barely know anything about you, I trust you but you also need to trust me" I said. Honestly I was just tired of being left in the dark by him no matter how hard I try to uncover him I would never find anything or even confuse myself even more. I needed him to tell me with his own mouth
He sighed
"My powers are related to death" He said
Suddenly his conversation with his summon struck me
"Although I am not formed from death mana, I am still the undead you revived" Antares words ringed as I pieced it together
"You have control over the dead" I said
He nodded as he sighed
"But why did you not just kill the Asuras?" I asked
"You have a summon like him, cut them down one by one you could kill them all" I continued
"Even after I killed them all then what? There will be Asuras that are easy to kill, but what would happen if they can fight back. Have you ever thought of what might happen to the world" He said
"Is that also the reason why Asuras never battle each other directly" I asked
He nodded
"That still doesn't explain your existence" I said
"If someone like you existed Asuras, and Agrona would know about you." I asked
"What do you know about the legacy Agrona has" He asked me
"I know that he used fate to reincarnate someone from.." I stopped my sentence as I pieced the pieces of information together
"You aren't from this world" I said
He nodded and then he stood up, and walked out. I was surprised to know who he was, whatever theories I came up about him in the past were all wrong. Half an hour had passed and I stood up to catch up to Jin-Woo, as I went out the cave he was standing on the edge of a cliff gazing on the view.
"So how did you end up here?" I asked
He walked back to the cave gesturing me to follow. I came in the cave after him he was already sitting down in front of the fire.
"My world was more advance in technology, and magic. But the dangers in my world is also bigger than yours" He said
"We don't have specific places for dungeons, they appear where ever, and whenever they want to. There would be cases of dungeon breaks if the dungeon had been ignored for too long. There will be times where the dungeon threat level was measured wrong, there was times that you were too late to exit the portal after the dungeon closed. There are also sickness like eternal slumber." He sighed
"I came here after my world was destroyed, no not after it was destroyed, after I destroyed it, my fight with my enemy was too much for the world to handle, so it came to the point where everyone died due to the fight" He said his voice cracked
I moved in closer and patted him in the back.
"You know I've tried three times to save my world, for all three times to end up with the same outcome." He continued
"I watched my world burn three times my loved ones killed three times, yet I couldn't do anything" He said his voice starting to break
I didn't know how to comfort him in his current broken state making me regret having him telling me. I instinctively pulled him, and hugged him. Even I was confused at what I was doing. his head was resting on my shoulders as he let it all out. After a few minutes he managed to calm down, as I was still feeling guilty.
"Sorry it's just a sour past" He said with a solemn smile
I shook my head because I know I was in the wrong for forcing him to tell me when he wasn't ready. But here he is telling me this because I pushed him
"You should rest for the sake of your mental health" I said
He went a corner where he rested his body on the stone wall. While I was standing guard my mind kept lingering when I hugged him. I felt my face burned and I quickly shake all those thoughts away for now.
I was still sitting at the same place where I was gazing at the night sky. I looked back to see Jin-Woo in peace, I stood up and walked towards him. I placed my hands on his, and interlocked our fingers as I squeeze them. I sat beside him, my head resting on his shoulder, while my other hand caressed his big, and soft hands. They say people with the brightest smile has the most painful past. I thought as I counted all of the times he smiled at my clumsiness, and embarrassing moments. I closed my eyes as I slowly felt comfortable on his shoulder, and was slowly falling asleep.
I woke up the next day to see myself staring at Jin-Woo's face from bellow, as I realize where my head was I slowly got up, and tried to unlock my fingers, but his fingers won't budge.
"What did I do yesterday" As I remembered everything I did my face got hot
I tried to pry my fingers open with my other hand but that was fruitless, I tried to free myself for an hour trying to even lift a single finger was impossible, suddenly I saw his eyes twitched, I quickly put my head back on his shoulder, and pretended to sleep again.
I heard him sigh, suddenly I felt his finger twisting my hair.
"You know Seris you're the second person to know about this, well I could say you're the first because the first one was my predecessor, and he's been with me throughout all my life. He's seen my ups and downs, my achievements, and my failures. Telling you all of that removed a big weight in my shoulder. Thank you for your comfort yesterday, and thank you for your comfort in my sleep." He said softly
I felt movement, his hand released mine then he moved both of his hand hugging me for a while, I then felt him move back but then I felt his soft lips on my forehead. Then he returned me to my original position interlocking our hands again.
"But I'm afraid to lose someone again. Whenever I loved someone family friends I lost them all not once, not twice, three times. Even now I'm afraid of losing the bonds I've formed in this world. I'm afraid of growing too close to you, I'm afraid that I'll lose you to" He said as I felt his hand tremble, he didn't squeeze my hand but his hands were trembling hard.
"When I came into this world I wanted to seal my emotions to never feel anything my predecessor didn't allow it, so I lived in this world with emotions. Ever since the attack on the floating fortress. I pondered if I wanted to seal my emotions or not, my predecessor didn't try to stop me this time. I nearly did you know, but I changed my mind when I spent my days in the Relictombs with you, you were something that I've come to cherish, to like, and God forbids to love" He said
He then went silent, he was done talking but he kept on stroking my head, twisting my hair, and squeezing my hand. I decided to wake up, and that was when his face was in front of mine. We both widened our eyes because of this, but none of us flinched, none of use backed away instead his head leaned forward to mine, I didn't back of as I also moved closer. Our lips connected to each other as our tongue danced inside each other. Both of my hands were around his neck, while his hands were behind me, and behind my head pushing me forward to deepen the kiss, I started to also move my hands to his head. Our kiss was deep, and we broke it when we our lungs needed to breathe his forehead resting on mine.
"So will you love me?" I asked between gasps
"You heard all of that ?" He asked as I could see his face slightly red
I just smiled seeing his reaction. Then I dove in giving him another kiss. Our kiss was passionate, and long as we embraced each other. By some miracle we managed to restrain ourselves from continuing further, as we agreed to do it later.
He got up, and offered me his hand. I took it, and stood up. We then spent another day monster killing while trying to find the portal. It was raining the next day so I wore a hood, the only place we have yet to search fully was the cave that has those screeching noises, me and Jin-Woo finally went back to that place but this time with a little breaking. As we broke every wall there we have yet to find anything.
Jin-Woo started to utilize his soldiers again and they went out to look for clues. Although three more wouldn't serve much help it would still hasten the process. We searched the cave for hours to find nothing. Frustrated I slumped down on the ground tired of bombarding the walls for hours. Jin-Woo suddenly also dropped down to the floor his ear on the floor. He knocked the floor a few times in different places.
"Sometimes I really liked the Relictombs but sometimes they can make me crazy" He said as he created a crack on the floor where winged monsters came out. We cleared them out and started to descend down the stairs. When we reached the bottom there it was the portal in the middle of the room. Jin-Woo offered his hand, I then rested mine in the crook of his elbow as our body sticking together. We were teleported into a sanctuary. There I was another group of people, and what surprised me the most was seeing Caera.
My eyes widened as I became conscious of my position right now my face heat up
"Call me Ash" He whispered into my ear which didn't help at all my face burning
