Leah comes back home from the office and as she enters into the house, she sees her friends, Jude and her parents seated in the living room all having a conversation. Victoria turns around while laughing then sees Leah and calls her to come drawing others attention to her. Leah walks over to them quietly, as Jude greets her but she doesn't respond. She then stares at Jude for a while before she gives him a dirty slap. All gasp.
"that's for what you did to me.
"honey, what's going on?" Mark asked.
"what's the meaning of this?" Jude asked shocked and confused as to why she slapped him.
"should I tell them or will you? Okay, you've spoken already, now it's my turn. Jude here tried to have me killed!" Leah said and everyone gasped. Her parents share a look with each other and her friends share a look with each other. "tell them Jude" Leah added. Jude gets up, hoping to put this all under control.
"Leah what are you talking about? Have you been drinking?" Jude asked.
"are you possessed? You must be mad!" Leah said then scoffed, before she continued speaking. "it is the nerve for me. To stand there and play the victim, the innocent one when we both know the truth and you are asking me if I've been drinking?" she said wanted to launch towards him, but her friends held her back. "start talking you idiot!" Leah shouts, her friends still holding her.
"about what, what are you saying?"
"you wanted me dead".
"Leah stop making up stories".
"I saw Tony!" she shouts and they both become quiet. "yes, I saw that nonsense Tony just this evening and after me and the guards had a very serious conversation with him, he told us everything. Do you know that, that shipment thing was just a ruse? The shipment had already been made to the original destination, three months before I came back. Just that on our own company's side, nothing looked to have moved, when it actually had. He had already seen the customers in Oshodi!" Leah said, her rage quickly approaching its peak.
"what!" Mark exclaimed.
"yes. All of that was just staged, so that when I will be delivering the goods, Tony will have me killed and then he will get to play the role of the grieving fiancée and the almost son in-law to be, while he keeps my position in the company, and probably come for the CEO position one day. How long have you been planning this huh, months? Years? This is why you proposed right?" Leah asked but Jude does not respond. Victoria slaps Jude hard on his check.
"you better answer the questions and start saying the truth if you want to leave here today. Jude is still holding his check, looking between Victoria and Leah.
"answer!" Mark demanded, his tone loosing Jude's tongue.
"yes. I mean no. Yes. Leah look, it's not what you think, I swear there is an explanation" Jude said.
"explanation? So you want to justify this right? You want to justify this?" Leah said in disbelief and scoffed.
"you told me that you had to make some delivery to some clients but that would be after you visited them and had a talk with them. That I should help you do it because dad told you to and you had not done it but told him you had done it and didn't want to get in trouble. I believed you. I believed you!" Leah said, marvelling at her own foolishness. How could she be so stupid? She paused for a while as she tried to hold back the tears that were threatening to spill.
"I mean it's the mind for me. To still look me in the eye all this month's and lie to my face, am I that stupid to you?" Leah asked.
"no, no" Jude said.
"you then came to play the hero at King's place" she said and launched at him again and her friends hold her back. He starts to beg and then she raises her hand to hit him but her friends bring her hand down and stop her.
"it's okay. He has had enough slaps to pass the message efficiently" Simi said, trying to calm Leah down. Leah looks at him, then hisses and turns away.
"he was the one that called me. Your "hero" boyfriend, he was the one that called me and told me where you are" Jude said. If he was going down, he was not going alone. Leah stops and turns back to him. "I swear" he added as she looked at him with death in her eyes.
He brings out his phone and then goes through it and when he reaches a point, he stops and shows her the phone. She looks at him, then at the phone then takes the phone from his hand and then dials the number. After a few rings, someone picks up.
"who is this?" King said, answering the phone.
She looks at the phone and then back at Jude. She throws the phone on the ground angrily and looks at Jude with even more anger in her eyes, before she turns around and leaves.
"now, you God forsaken bastard, get out of this house now, before I lose my temper!" Simi said.
"did you not hear her!" Mark shouted but then hissed as he thought of something better. "Akin, Akin!" he called.
"I'm already here sir" Akin as he entered the living room, coming out from the pathway leading to the main door. "oya, oga, dey go. Dey go!" Akin said. Jude is still pleading with Leah's parents then Akin drags him up and then drags him out of the place. Her friends stand and are shocked. Victoria just takes a sit and Mark sits next to her to comfort her.
Meanwhile, King is talking with T in his living room.
"who be that?" T asked.
"I no know o. E be like say na wrong number" King answered.
"oh, okay" T says. They stay silent for a while before T speaks again. "see I've been meaning to ask you, and I know say you go vex, but I go still ask am. Why? Why you do am?" T asked.
"do what?"
"you sabi wetin I dey talk" T said, clearly not interested in doing any dance of the sought. King sighs and looks away as he remembers when he called Jude.
"look, this was not her life. I did what I did. Besides, she was going to leave anyways" King said.
"how you for take know? You for give the babe chance. You liked her and she liked you too, you should have just let it play out" T said.
"hmm, maybe I should, but we don't always get what we want do we?" King said. He stares blankly into space and then takes a sip from his glass of drink. T looks at him and smiles and shakes his head, then leans back on his seat and also takes a sip of his drink.
