Right now Izuna was happily walking back home, he was in a good mood because he had gone out really early this morning to go steal things from groups of shinobi that he could find. It was becoming more common to see small groups of ninja running about and occasionally stopping for a break, there were also quite a number of battle scenes, so Izuna had recently started to rob these shinobi of ninja tools such as shuriken and kunai.
He wanted to improve his skills so this was perfect, because he could now test his sneaking and stealing skills on shinobi which would make it even more challenging, but he knows that these groups aren't very strong because they were scouts so these bigger nations didn't mind if they lost these shinobi as long as they could get some intel.
Even though they were sent for gathering intel their reconnaissance weren't considered good as the bigger nations didn't want to loose their elite shinobi before the war started as this could make them lose the war. By sending these shinobi it could be considered the nations just trying to get lucky and get intel.
Although they weren't skilled shinobi, Izuna did get caught a few times trying to sneak into their camp and steal ninja tools, but he always out ran them so they gave up, as they saw a kid just over 6 years old stealing ninja tools a minor threat and he hadn't killed anyone.
The times that he messed up and got seen replayed in his head so that he could understand where he went wrong and improve his skills. Then he glances at the bag he was holding and gave it a shake, a loud "clang, clang" sound could be heard. This was the reward from all his hard work, a backpack sized bag full of ninja tools.
It was around 5:30pm as he was nearing his house, when he was getting whiffs of smoke. At first he didn't think much of it because he was still quite far from home so he thought that the house couldn't be on fire, but as he kept walking he became more and more worried.
As he was worryingly running back, there was sweat rolling down his skin, as he was passing charred and burnt trees which were still hot even after the fire had smothered out (the fire naturally burned itself out as other trees were too far to catch fire but it still did a huge amount of damage to the forest). His heart was pounding faster and faster as he neared his house and he just hoped that his mother was ok. He was sure that the fire had reached his house but he was sure that his mother would be able to get out and run into the forest when the fire came and he thought that it was only a matter of finding a new house to live in.
Later when he reached his burnt down house he let out silent tears, as he had grown up here his entire life. He walked over and suddenly his heart skipped a beat, he could see traces of a fight and he began to think that this might have been the start of the fire. So he quickly tried to look for any remains and he found a trail where it looks like they had ran and he began to worry even more as he noticed that there were multiple tracks leading the same way. One track showing an injured person which he had hoped wasn't his mother, and another three tracks where they were running normally and lastly another track which showed a fast shinobi, Izuna could tell because his footprints were feint which showed that he was light on his feet and he also noticed that the person had large strides show how skilled he was at running.
He followed the tracks for 30 minutes as it was hard to follow due to the fire which ruined the tracks sometimes. when he came to a point in where some of the tracks changed direction completely and were heading into that land of rain, his heart tensed up and he took a deep breath and walked over. His mind was filled with all kind of thoughts but he didn't want to think about the worst thing that could happen; as he could never accept it, he believed that something like losing those close to home couldn't happen as his mind didn't let him believe it, but what he saw next made his heart stop for a few seconds, all the thoughts he had in his mind shattered.
What he saw what the dead body of his dear mother. The only one he loved. The only one he needed and wanted in this world. His mind went blank as he stood there, it was if his eyes were showing him what happened but his mind refusing to believe it and thought that it was impossible and could never happen, and that what he was seeing right now was all a lie. This made his body just stop working as he silently stood there. He thought he was all in a nightmare, but he wanted to believe it because he didn't want his mother to be dead. As soon as he started to slowly process what had happened tears streamed down his face he didn't know what to do, he didn't even know how to think at that moment.
He ran over to hold his mother, her skin and clothes were slightly burnt and there was a stab wound on her left chest. He was there for about 2 hours there crying his eyes out, but to him it felt as if only a minute had passed. He was so mentally and physically exhausted that he passed out. Since he was facing such harsh mental trauma, he was oblivious to the changes in eyes, as his three tomoe sharingan activated on it's own and began to swirl. Blood began to leak from his eyes, it was if he was crying tears of blood. When he opened his eyes, they took the form of a small, swirled three spiked shuriken in the centre of his eye, with three swirling spikes coming out the sides running along side the swirled shuriken in the centre of his eye but not touching each other. He had awakened his mangekyou sharingan just before he passed out. It was at that moment that he learned the truth.
