Chapter 1 - Gramps Present

CEO's Contracted Valentine Wife.

***********

CHAPTER 1

Seated in the bright office was a young man facing his laptop while staring deeply at it. After a few seconds, the tapping sound of a keyboard could be heard inside his office.

He took a pause, and glanced at his side where a cup of coffee sat on the table close to his phone, near his arm. Taking it up, he took a sip and then another before dropping it and facing it squarely.

No sooner had he dropped the tea cup when he heard the sound of his phone ringing, pulling his attention back to the table.

One glance at the phone and his once blank face tuned into a grimace as his brows kneaded. His chest rose and fell as he took in a deep sigh before picking it up and answering his phone.

"Hello. Gramps, good afternoon," the deep baritone voice resounded in the office.

"What is good about the afternoon, Bryan?" His grandfather asked, his own deep base overshadowing that of Bryan.

He rolled his eyes at his phone but remained silent.

This was not the first time they were having this discussion and he knew how it always ended. More shout and shout but being who he was, he never rushed his decisions and he meant it this time, he wanted to wait.

"Bryan!" His voice became louder. "How can you not say anything to me?"

"Gramps, I do not know why you are shouting," Bryan lied, reaching up with his right hand to his hair and combing through it with his fingers.

"You little… Urghhh!" He smiled into his phone as though his grandfather could see him. He nailed it. Getting his grandfather angry was another job well done.

"Bryan, until when would you give me a great-grandson ?"

He let out a sigh and dropped his hand which was massaging his temples only a few seconds ago. "Gramps, to have a great-gandson, one would need to get married first. These things take time and steps."

"Oh great, now he is retiring me. Of course, I know, what would your twenty-four years old self know about that?"

"Exactly."

"Shut up, Bryan."

"Gramps, I have been busy. Who has time for marriage when there is a company to grow and keep at the top of the company chain?"

"Shut up. An wedding takes only a day. Stop making excuses like you are the first businessman."

"I was just saying. I have been busy that is all."

"Shut up, brat. I have spoiled you too much. If you listened to me before then we would not be in this place. Anyways, since you are incapable of doing so, I left you a present."

He arched a brow as his eyes narrowed. This was most definitely not a good thing. "A present?"

"Yes. It should be here now. Bye and remember, do not fail me."

"Wait, Gram..."

Beep! Beep!

"Urrghh!" He grid his teeth, balling his right hand into a fist for a few seconds before he shook his head and released his fist.

Placing his phone back down, he resumed his work on his laptop. Now wasn't the time for arguments.

No sooner as the thought crossed his mind than he heard a knock on his door. His eyes shot up as if on instinct, waiting for a word or something but when he did not get it, he sighed. "Enter."

The doorknob turned and pushed open lightly. To his amazement, what he saw, left him wide eyes and jaw-dropping.

In another office, a young lady stood with a couple of files in her hand, listening intently at the instruction being passed to her.

"Yes ma'am. I understand."

"I hope you heard me clearly, Alexa? Do not mess this up. I already promised to give Stella the documents this afternoon, so no talking in the way, hurry it up and explain what I told you to her."

"Got it ma. I would be swift," Alexa replied, her charming smile sending ease and at the same time putting enough worry in the heart of the older lady.

Without saying much, she dashed away p, heading straight for the office she was sent to.

Within five minutes, she was already at the last floor of the elevator and got to the desk of Stella.

"Hello, Miss Stella. The files have arrived as per your request," she announced.

Looking up, the lady putting on a pair of glasses smiled at the familiar voice. "Hello. Did you get the I instructions this time around?"

"Yes."

"Great, let's hear them. The CEO has been expecting these files. So I can run through and do the necessary."

"Okay."

Meanwhile, the second Brayn saw the door opened and the present which was to come step into his office, his eyes went wide with shock.

"Oh no, you have got to be kidding me," he muttered to himself, leaning back against his chair as not one, not two or even three, but six of them entered his office.

'This is. Nightmare. Does this old man think that by doing this I would suddenly get married? Tsk, I would watch and see what he would do once his plan fails.' Brayn voiced in his mind.

The second they finished filing into his office, the last one locked the door and all six of them smiled brightly at him, giving him their most seductive, charming smile.

His eyes scanned through every one of them and with each he lost more interest than before.

"Good afternoon, Bryan," all six of them chorused, further making his headache worsen.

'Gosh, what was Stella doing? Where is that lady anyway?' he thought once more.

Without saying a word to either of them, he stood up, wore the most cold face he could muster at that point and walked past them, heading for his door.

"Yeah, thanks a lot, Alexa. my regards to her. If there is any correction from the CEO I, I would let her know immediately."

"Alright ma. Now do not forget to smile and have a lovely day, okay?" Without looking back or taking a turn, Alexa waved at Stella as she spoke, moving backwards.

"Oh and we would meet for the plan later in the day. Do not forget." She had not been looking at where she was going and as soon as she turned around to continue on her way, she bumped into something hard and let out a soft cry.

Thud!

"Ouch!" With her eyes shut, she massaged her nose. "Did I hit a rock or something? How you, did a wall just come out of nowhere?"

Finally, she decided to see what she had bumped into and opened her eyes. Looking up, she was shocked that the rock which she jumped into was none other than...

GULP!
