Jake walked away with a split mentality. He was partially smirking, feeling proud of what he had accomplished. Then the other part of him doubted the means he had used. But the fact that he had managed to find information justified his effort, despite the conundrum he now found himself in. He had shot a man. A bad man.
He had discovered that what they thought they knew was just the tip of the iceberg. The plot was way thicker than he and the rest of his crew had anticipated. He had so much to fill them in that the drive was going to feel longer than it actually was. From another perspective, they were in over their heads.
